Nintendo Reveals First 3DS Titles It'll Show the Public

image

An upcoming public Nintendo 3DS event will feature more than 10 playable games and many more in video form.

Nintendo's first effort in the battle to show consumers how the 3DS works, as it can't be truly experienced through video, is an upcoming public event to take place in Japan called Nintendo World. Nintendo has revealed which games it'll be featuring at the event, which could hint towards the titles most likely to be available at the system's launch.

Notable games to be shown in video form will be Star Fox 64 3D, Kingdom Hearts 3D, Paper Mario, Animal Crossing, and Mario Kart. Nintendo will also be giving the public a look at its suite of augmented reality titles that come pre-installed on the 3DS, in addition to showing off the 3D picture-taking abilities of the 3DS's cameras.

The 3DS games that will be playable at Nintendo World include:

* Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D The Naked Sample
* Winning Eleven 3D Soccer
* Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition
* Resident Evil Revelations
* Samurai Warriors Chronicle
* Dead or Alive Dimensions
* Ridge Racer 3D
* Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask
* Nintendogs + Cats
* Kid Icarus
* Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D
* Steel Diver
* Pilot Wings Resort

Children under 6 years old will not be allowed to use the 3DS at the event, due to questions about 3D's effects on developing eyesight. Nintendo is apparently recommending that kids under 6 not play the 3DS at all.

If the playable titles available at Nintendo World give us an idea of what the 3DS will launch with, there should be a decent selection to choose from when the handheld is released in 2011. The Nintendo World 3DS demo will take place from January 8-10, 2011, and hopefully will come with the reveal of more information about the games it'll feature. Nintendo is holding a press event for the 3DS outside of Japan in multiple locations on January 19, but hasn't revealed what it'll show or say there yet, or made any plans known for an overseas public event.

The 3DS will be available in Japan on February 26, 2011 for 25,000.

Ocarina of Time

All I'm interested in from that...

I suppose asking Komami for another amazing handheld Castlevania game is too much to ask?

For a game that may or may not actually be happening, Snake Eater sure gets a lot of press exposure...

What? They get a new DoA while nothing for the consoles?(unless this is a remake)

Surprisingly great list though. Its actually tempting me to buy one.

Dead or Alive? Dimensions? I wont buy the 3DS but I still hope that its a fighting game and not like the Volleyball games, after all this is in 3D, I will be suprised if they actually make a fighting game and not a jugs frenzy game like DOA EV2.

I am seriously concerned about them not letting kids under 6 use it for eye health reasons. How can they be completely sure it ONLY has a negative effect on kids that young?

Because kids under 6 are asses.
>:C
STOP RUINING MY DREAMS
This thing could give me eye cancer I'm so hyped for it.

Dead or Alive? 3d titties?
Mix that in with that kinect sex game and see what happens

Steel Diver sounds like a sexual device..

No hard core RPGs it seems, as that is my personal interest I have yet to be impressed.

Speaking of hard core, that Metal Gear game sounds like the title of a gay porn movie.

I can just see it now, people expecting military action are instead treated to an exerpt from the Boss' early days before he met the lady Big Boss (who he was never intimate with apparently... at least according to some sources hmmm), working the "kitchen" at an officer's club. Naked except for a slitted apron the young "soldier" stands there offering naked samples of his "Solid Snake" to the visitors. The game itself putting the player in the role of one of these said officers known as "Captain Yaoi". The "naked sample" extends up from the bottom screen in 3D while the player puts their mouth down over the projection and seeks to score points through tongue motions detected by the camera, while the flip screen is used to make dreamy eye contact with the man who will one day be known as "Big Boss". It would of course feature an authentic 1960s porno soundtrack, and grunts and statements of approval based on performance from the same actor who played Snake in "Peace Walker". This of course to be followed by a sequel about Paz's job as a translator pre-Peacewalker called "Metal Gear Solid: Cunning Linguist".

Perhaps this is why young children aren't allowed to play? >:)

All kidding aside, when they release a sequel to "The World Ends With You", a "Shin Megami Tensei" game, or even a "Final Fantasy" in 3d I'll be interested. Very few of those games really capture my imagination. That said, I *AM* looking forward to the release of the 3DS, already trying to put some money away to buy one.

From the screens, it looks like a fighting game.

And Dead or Alive is a very solid fighting series, so I expect good things.w

Dead or Alive does have male characters, you know people!

Wow this lineup is looking good.
I'm inching closer and closer to buying a 3DS when it comes out!

I'm interested, certainly, but my anticipation won't have a chance to peak until I can actually see the effect with my own eyes. They really need to get demo units into stores next year, not just city events.

I sure hope they keep the #DS the same size as the DSI XL, that size was a godsend, we need to making these screens bigger, not smaller it gets hard on the eyes.

So... the 3D suffix is the new Super... or ...64

The thing I'm hoping for, oddly enough, is a Silent Hill game. Yes, snicker behind my back if you will, but I think it would be great to see such a thing.

Hey, hands up anyone who really doesn't care about the 3DS!

*hand*

Okay, I'm intrigued by Animal Crossing, but that's it.

I hope the 3DS has backwards compatibility... =\

The line up is looking good though

Ocarina of Time... It is better for the both of us that you are avaible on launch day :)

Line-up is looking amazing.
I want a 3DS so bad...

It will play regular DS games and have its own Virtual Console (I imagine it will feature games from the Game and Watch and Gameboy series).

About the 3D possibly harming developing eye sight...you think they'd add parental contols that can disable the slider and keep the 3D off instead of warning parents to not buy them.

Don't worry, its just the first outting of the console and its games. Give it a week or two, no doubt that there will be announcements of RPG titles.

I am so looking forward to this release, I just hope time continues to move as quickly next year as it has this year.

They're not completely sure that it has any negative effect whatsoever on kids under 6.

It's a standard warning because someone in the medical field has theorized (there's no actual evidence) that using 3D imaging incorrectly for extended periods of time might cause the muscle tissue surrounding the eyes to develop improperly.

I know, its one of my favourites fighting games, although the developers dont seem to actually know that. They are the ones who keep making this game a jug fest and I cant blame the people that say that the jugs are one of the games signature, that is how they designed it. So sad... because of that its rare to see someone take the game seriously.

I was like huh fairly interesting list not too bothered, FUCKING HELL OCARINA OF TIME.

Levels of want have increased.

Well, these are assumedly release games they're focusing on, and hardcore RPGs don't tend to be among the release games for any console.

A TWEWY sequel would be fantastic. Final Fantasy V and VI remade in 3D are probably to be expected.

I should try to get some more time into Persona 3. I've liked it so far, but the dungeon crawling is bound to get a bit stale sooner or later... unless the game is up to the challenge of proving me wrong, which I hope.

As impressive this new DS is looking, I'm going to hold off buying it until there are some real must-have titles. I also want to know the price of the games. If it's like the early PSP days at $50 a pop, no amount of hype is going to convince me that I need one. I'll just stick with full console titles and PC games if that's what it's going to cost me. My DSl works fine thankyouverymuch.

I'm still going to use it, but the fact that they can't prove that scientist wrong if he's wrong, or right if he's right, kind of proves that not enough research has been done on this...

It would be sort of irresponsible to have a child testing the theory in order to possibly find out whether or not it holds any water.

It would be even more irresponsible to have enough children doing it to have fairly conclusive evidence.

Plus, it would take years, and modern 3D technology is still in development.

My thoughts exactly. Plus I don't understand why they can't just turn the 3D effect off for children younger than that if they are concerned and just let them play in 2D. But yeah, I'm more worried about it possibly having a negative effect on people older than that beyond the headaches 3D is already known to give you.

January 10th is my bday :D

I can tell EVERYONE that playing any type of DS for too long will cause a seizure. I have had one while playing my Nintendo DS. and that was the last seizure I had too! *knock knock knocks on wood*

I think 3D stuff is overrated. if I want to see it in 3D I'll go to the IMAX 3D theater in town. that thing is 3 stories tall!! and 3D games will scare me...

Pretty sure it's similar in size to the standard DSi. The screen is slightly bigger, however.

So many games would benefit from this tech...

3d mega man legends
metroid prime 3d rail shooter

Oh look, another release of Ocarina of Time.

Aside from the Professor Layton game, my interest in the thing is rather lacking. Probably won't bother with it at all unless they release the Layton/Wright crossover State-side.
