Skyrim DLC Will Be Timed 360 Exclusive Pages PREV 1 2 3 4 5 NEXT
not really. Bethesda just likes to get it out ASAP and they finish development on the 360 first (because it's optimized for that platform). We had a discussion about this on the official forums. I'm kinda pist that the PC won't get it along with the xbox though... but meh... depending on how epic the DLC is, I'll probably just wait till the GOTY edition comes out anyways so I can buy them all at once.
See, this doesn't makeme suddenly want to go out and buy the XBox version of the game; iit just makes me think that Microsoft is a dick. I think I'll just go with my mods then.
I'd be way more annoyed by this if I was actually able to get the dlc. Curse my lack of money! Hell i'll be lucky if i'm able to buy Skyrim on it's release date.
I'll likely get this on 360 first, then PC when the price goes down a bit. If i get it on PC straight away i'll get distracted to much by mods, eventually i'll corrupt my save by accident, and i'll need to start over. So if i start on 360, i can play it Vanilla first :)
Does that mean I'll have to wait 30 days longer for my horse armour?
If game developers REALLY went ahead and included everything into their games that they wanted to, their games would never be released. Some people seem to ignore the fact that creating worthwhile content takes time and money, and no one wants to wait 10 years for their favorite game. Stop complaining about the damn DLC. It is NOT content that they withheld from you so that you'd have to pay twice -- particularly not with this game! It is their opportunity to extend the experience for you with content that they wish they could have added the first time around.
or at least compensate those who had to wait
im not upset about that. im upset about it being a timed exclusive
They are going to be making most of the mods for Skyrim accessible for the xbox and ps3 actually so no, you won't ^^
That's cute, how you actually believe that...
Who do you think makes the mods-by the way its not Bethesda so they might struggle to make them compatible without permission and even then xbox live has a policy against free content just look at team fortress 2.
Not really, It may sway some people who are debating if they should get it on Xbox or ps3.
...This is a Exclusive, A timed one....
Bethesda game are good... To the majority of people, kind of the reason they have such a reputation. But to each his own I guess... And no they are not saying that, It's microsoft who is paying them for these things. In fact I challenge you to tell me in one way the exception being this, Has Bethesda directly discouraged PS3 Gamers. Because it would be a stupid business plan...
The majority wouldn't... And it's frowned upon. Modding it is their thing, and yes much better then timed exclusives.
PS3 gamers can play with the 300 hours of content, Then precede to make tasks explore or fulfill things they wanted to do. The funny part about your statement is by the time a DLC is released you and a lot of xbox 360 users will probably be done with your first play through. The point of DlC is to add additional content...
Yes, you are overreacting...
DLC can wait then. I'll buy it on the PC, beat it, and by the time I've beaten it the modding community will probably have enough content out for me to multiply the time I spend on the next playthrough by 5.
Meh, Mods>DLC EVERY F***ING TIME. This is just random text so i don't get a low content post warning.
No, they wont. Bethesda just said that they would like to do it, not that they are doing it.
Thank you for another slap in the face, Bethesda. I'd buy the DLC when it comes out for PS3, but I feel that I will mysteriously lose intrest within that month.
Why are they talking about releasing DLC 2 and a half months before the game comes out in the first place?
It's really up to them I think. Announcing it early might save some rage, but honestly it might just make the rage worse. I own both consoles, so I'm good.
Next time somebody says this right here is a bad idea point them in the direction of DNF.
I'm kinda disappointed that elder scroll Skyrim will even have DLC. I mean, I would rather they sit down and focus on a giant package of content that has a reasonable but higher price rather than pay 5 dollars to put armor on my horses. Whats that called again? Oh yeah, an expansion.
Timed DLC is utterly ridiculous. It replaces decent competition which benefits the consumer with cheap tricks that only restrict our choice.
*Reads title* | |
What is all this about horse armour? Have we all forgotten Bloodmoon, Tribunal, all FIVE packs from Fallout 3 and another FOUR from NV? And Shivering Isles? Bethesda makes epic DLC!
Well, people, that's the trade-off for Bethesda games since Fallout 3, and I think it's kinda fair! I remember Fallout: New Vegas in the months after release and during the wait for the Dead Money DLC to come out for PC, we got some mods available from the Nexus that would classify as "player-made DLC" in my book, such as the New Vegas Bounties and more.
It does look like they are going to make less add ons but larger ones. If you download it it is dlc no matter how big or small it is.
Although it doesn't affect me, I feel sorry for people who are getting Skyrim for the PS3 or PC. I don't see why it gets released for the 360 first, but I'm not complaining.
Skyrim was my reason to get it on release day :P I'm not really annoyed in a murder-Todd-Howard way, but... I'm annoyed. They're sidelining PCs for no good reason.
That's a bit annoying to say the least, surely the huge following that Elder Scrolls has got on the PC should really mean that the format that should get the DLC would be the PC, I mean what's a better way to thank the fans; A) Giving the dedicated long term fanbase the DLC first, or B) Screw you long time fans, we get more money this way!, Well?
Here is a plan, if you already have all this DLC planned put it in the fucking game instead of cheating us out of more damn money, not that we all wouldnt pay for it or anything cause this game is still gonna kick ass.
You can't get sued for stopping people from distributing moderations of a liscenced product such as a game. Infact you can sue them, as unless a publisher gives their permission to tamper with software, you can't legally distribute mods for their software.
Well, All I have to say is, "I hope the DLCs are not going to be substancial, like a new location and quest line." Us PS3 players like new things, too, Bethesda.
I'm quite saddened the more I hear about Skyrim. At first the PC version was initially going to be the first design then we get told we are getting a port, takes me back to all the issues we had with Oblivion/F3/F:NV. Now we find out DLC is 360 first which means even the DLC will be ported (again it's going to be fallout bugs and glitches all over again). A game I had my heart set on when I first heard about it is slowly turning me away from it. I don't care who gets what first if PC gamers can be promised a decent port but it's always .. ALWAYS .. shit. I've yet to come across a console to PC port that actually works as intended.
and just for that the X360 is still at a huge disadvantage.
at least it,s not a complete exclusive.

Well, I would be excited for a PC release of Skyrim, because I loves me some mods, but my computer is not good enough to play it so Ill sadly have to get it on PS3 and get it for PC in the future.
In any case. Im sure I can wait a month to get the DLC.
