Hackers Hit Steam Forums Pages PREV 1 2 3
"Arrgh gabe stop I'm not food oh god please okay I'll stop where oh gdasfsdfagad"
Oh no they're going to steal my account to ask for support and talk about games.
This just in, Hackers have stolen all information relating to PayPal accounts. Scared now?
I was getting that for a sec but then I saw it needed to be updated so once I did that it worked.
Somebody wanted that website to get legal action and steams attention to get shut down ha.
Wow. What an idiot. What's the point to taking down those forms? It didn't remove Valve anti cheat, and nothing they do ever will. Now let's unleash an army of gabens to his house. Seriously, it's like flicking one soldier in a massive army.
good thing i dont care for the forum. unless its about a old game and want to find out if it works on newer systems. but i did use the troubleshooter few times and i got help from valve. so this at least works. damn the hackers. makes you want to stay away from PC at all.
Another reason not to like Steam. Having all your games linked to an account means hackers can easily screw you out of 100s of dollars. Good thing it was only the forum, just wait until this happens to the main accounts.
my thoughts exactly I am just glad it wasnt somthing actually important like steam itself
Now, could they crash Steam itself if they wanted to?
A vBulletin board was pwned? Shocker! In other news, Water is Wet. Sun expected to rise in East. Haters gonna hate. Seriously. VB boards are easier to compromise than a politician with a taste for acting in underage midget porn films.
Separate entity, which I would imagine is managed a lot differently seeing what it holds. If you do have a forum account, I would give Valve time to get it straightened out and back online, and then wait a bit longer as it is going to be lagged beyond belief of everyone going on to post their reaction on the forum of the forum being hacked. After that, change your password.
I don't know why you're angry, it's not like anyone uses that place except for searching for fixes and save locations.
It's not like I cursed out their family and wished cancer on them... It's a shit head move to shut down forums people use for constructive purposes. Some people that download games from STEAM require the tech assistance from those forums on installing and running games properly. What's the point in bringing that down??
But they didn't. They added a message up the top. Valve took the site down. If support was taken down as well, sure that's a dick move. But just the forums? Not too big a deal.
Maybe the hack is a means of drawing attention to a security issue that encourages the owner to fix in a timely order? There's precedent for some companies to attempt suing/investigating anyone that reports security concerns, instead of actually fixing the code.
Probably a greater concern to check that your e-mail account password is up to scratch.
It is for me. Randomly generated
I use different passwords for email.
What was the accomplishment except pissing off Valve employees and users? It's pathetic, absolutely childish and pathetic. And delayed me selling my Unusual hat in TF2 for monehz.
I don't know how to feel about this.
hmm although i dont use steam forums, it sitl lwas a nice palce of knowledge about many games. evul hackers.
My advice would be to go to the sourceop forum if you aren't already. That's where most unusual buying/selling happens anyways. Though, as someone who does a lot of trading, I do have to say this sucks. On top of the implications this has, I'm sitting on a bunch of items I can't really move because the Steam forum is (unfortunantly) the best site for trading at the moment as far as I know. I was hoping to trade for a copy of MW3 before it was released or Rage now that it's on sale. Just have to hope it's back up by Tuesday.

Hackers being annoying pricks.
