Get Your Ass To Mars in the Total Recall MMO

Get Your Ass To Mars in the Total Recall MMO

Get ready for a surprise! Total Recall is being made into an MMO.

Michael Ironside, Ronnie Cox and three fabulous boobs - you know what I'm talking about. It's Total Recall, of course, the classic 1990 action flick that stars Arnold Schwarzenegger but that's made awesome by Ironside, Cox, Sharon Stone in her prime and the most famous sci-fi tits in history, not to mention some insanely over-the-top violence. And now, believe it or not, it's about to become an MMO.

Developed by SEE games and ZQGame, the browser-based Total Recall MMO will be free-to-play with microtransactions, PvP and PvE action, and a "collaborative memory quest system," whatever that means.

"Total Recall is an international phenomenon; we know this well-known property will make a great 3D browser based game," said Mark Caplan, vice president at Sony Pictures Consumer Products Inc. "Total Recall will offer fans of the franchise and gamers alike an engaging and authentic experience - one that will deliver everything that the fans expect and will dovetail perfectly with the upcoming film."

Yes, sadly, the new game will apparently be based on the upcoming remake starring Colin Farrell and not the great Arnie film. Don't feel bad if that squashes any interest you might have had in this game; the new movie doesn't even have a Richter and how can you make a Total Recall film without "See you at the pahty, Richter?" It just doesn't work.

The press release said nothing about a release date but the crappy new movie [and yes, I've already made up my mind on that] comes out on August 3, 2012, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it land around the same time. So keep your eyes peeled for it - and I'll see you at the pahty!

I've seen some impressive browser based 3d games of late, yet still the news that it's not based on the 80's classic is disappointing. If I can't make jokes in an Arnie voice like "Ant you 'taught dey called it deh rehd plaanet befyore." Then it just loses all of it's charm for me.

That's... sort of surreal.

I wasn't aware they're making a remake of Total Recall. Wow, is Hollywood so low on ideas they're litteraly remaking everything from before the year 2000? Seriously has anything come out of hollywood in the last six months that wasn't a remake or a superhero movie!?

You. You will be the first against the wall come the revoloution.

An MMO? What in Kuato's name are they thinking?
And as for a remake:

A Total Recall MMO isn't actually a bad idea, but based on the Colin Farrell movie? Kiss my ass.

The question that is, of course, on everyone's mind is;

Can we hit on a three-boobed hooker? I mean really, does anything else even matter?

o.o
....
i have no words to full express the level of 'buh'

Nothing is off-limits for an MMO apparently...

I demand a Golden Girls MMO.

But... wasan't it all a dream? A projection of everything the protagonist ever wanted to be?

"Oh, instead of Mars, we'll make it Russia! Get it? They're both RED! DOHOHOHOHO!!!"

There isn't a middle finger big enough.

Any Total Recall game is worth a look in my book.

I wasn't aware of any remake, sounds like utter shit. Arnie is what made that movie the masterwork of B-grade action that it is, you can't not have him!

You sir are a funny man, or woman, I didn't check your profile.

does cost of re-specing your toon cost your friends list and contacts with that char if so... just take my damn money. Also 3 boobed hookers are a must.

You think this is the real Quaid?

It isn't.

Damn hollywood and their remakes. The concept sounds interesting, but I can't help but be cynical. I'll stick to my 80s cheese, thanks.

No Michael Ironside = no me.

I wonder if the three boobs will be CGI this time, rather than paper mache and latex.

A remake? Really? Do they not get that Arnie instantly turns any film he's in into B grade gold?

Just ignore the MMO guys! I'm sure it'll turn out jusssst fine

Until Blizzard slits it's throat in the night that is...

C'mon Cohagen you got what you want. Give these people air!

I'm not hearing Colin Farrell say that the right way

YES! A Total Recall MMO, sounds awes...

The remake is going to be PG-13 and there are no 3 breasted women, no gore, no violence and no Mars. Why is this being made?

Well, since everybody is thinking it anyways, might as well post the clip...

So it's a waste of our time then? Good to know.

Total Recall was a great movie, don't get me wrong, but what possible reason would they want to make it now...

Your KIDDING ME.

They want to sink several tens of millions of dollars into a MMO to promote a remake of an 80's movie? Movie games already are hard enough to make in the limited time and budget, but your also now your trying to make a game that THRIVES on large amount of content to promote the movie that has a high chance of it self being a flop?

That has to be the worst possible idea I have heard all week.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure they said the new movies does not even take place on Mars.

Call me crazy but I just can't see Colin Farrell driving a huge mining drill through the guts of some asshole mutant taxi driver.

You know, a "real" Total Recall MMO could be good. Two sides battling it out in an action-packed, quest-heavy war across a wide variety of environments - not exactly groundbreaking but a solid base for a conventional, fun F2P MMO. But I just don't see it working with this remake. Fans of Total Recall (such as they are) want the real deal, and people who don't care... well, they just aren't going to care.

Well I was not going to play it unless it was bassed on total recall:2070, but that was never going to happen. (Fun fact about that show: in the last episode, Martin Sheen plays a suspiciously familar character. He represents an organization that has been a background antagonist for most of the show, Meets the protagonist in virtual reality, and makes the very reasonable case that they are the good guys. Seriously, Martin Sheen can make any evil plot sound like the most sensible thing ever. He is the reason my Shepard grew to respect, if not always agree with Cerberus. I am mightily pissed that bioware looks set to railroad me into fighting against them in the next game. Hmph! (Wow, that got off topic fast. )

If the MMO doesn't come with at least one muscled Austrian NPC who lets out hilarious onomatopeia if you hit him, I'm not buying it. I refuse to play a game based on Total Recall that does not have a certain percentage of Ahnuld remaining in it. No Arnold grunts or screams? Not buying.

Nothing says "Kill meeeeee" like a mutant... oh wait, of course I mean "like CRAPPY REBOOT". :'(

3(double)D perhaps?

Have you played the NES game? In my book, it's a piece of crap.
