UPDATE: Activision (Allegedly) Livid About Black Ops 2 Reveal Pages PREV 1 2 3 4 NEXT
Didnt MW3 just come out last year cant they give the series a rest. OT: well i see activision reputation is still plummeting like a rock
SHOCK HORROR! Another CoD game...who didn't see this one coming? I sure as hell didn't. Jokes aside, Activison just want to be giant dicks, people don't like them so their mindset must be, 'No point in half assing it'. I enjoyed BO, and Zombies is by far the best aspect of the CoD series. But I don't see it smashing MW3's records with all the Treyarch haters
Wasn't there going to be one called "Iron Wolf"? Well either way here goes my vain hope that the new COD will be set in WW2 from a Axis point of view or failing that, have a single player campaign longer then a pizza break and where I can stay on my own two feet for more then 2 seconds.....
MW4 or BO2... Did ANYONE need three guesses on the next game's title? It's as much of a shock as Disney sequels being 'straight to dvd' releases.
What are they pissed about? People knew Black Ops 2 was coming when they announced Black Ops one.
This was my facebook status on the matter, since I have alot of friends who mindlessly purchase each concecutive CoD game It was partially addressed to them.
You know why this is good news in a way? Fu**ing Call of Duty Zombies. I love that game mode, its the best damn thing Treyarch's ever done (Aside from that Spider Man game, that was pretty good too). Also Black Ops wasnt that bad of a game, if they just made it handle a little more like Modern Warfare 2, but balanced it more, then it would be a definite buy for me somewhere down the line.
Now, before someone starts to flame me, let's just look at Black Ops and realize somethings. The weakest part of that game was pacing. Each of the other individual elements, even story, were decent enough to meet the expectations of a top-tier title. It's multiplayer was probably the most fun I had had since CoD4 and it felt much more balanced than MW2. And it gave us the video game equivalent of 300's Leonidas in the form of Victor Reznov. The only problem was that the game in it's entirety just didn't meet the sum of it's parts. Elements, such as the ending image and the characters just felt phoned in and didn't make any sense whatsoever in terms of development. And despite the fact that the game took place over almost a decade, there didn't seem to be any change in the characters whatsoever. And there is only one character from Black Ops that we would ever want to see again: Reznov. So why, why would you want to make a sequel to this game that, while decent, is clearly not deserving of a sequel?
Activision milking a series? SAY IT AINT SO! I mean activision doesnt mil... -looks at MW 1 2 3- Well thats the onl... -looks at WoW- Ok so they have a few but they surely wont butche... -looks to diablo 3- Ok...I got nothin.
Just slap a 2k13 on the end of it and be done with it, fucks sake
It just makes you wonder if Activision get off on making absolute dicks out of themselves.
Hmm, I think you're right; birds fly, dogs go woof and Activision releases another Call of Duty game every autumn, so what are they so upset about? And why would you want to go to a movie game tie in preview/launch thingy anyway??? The game will suck and be forgotten about in six months, except when people bring it up as one of "those games".
Aaahhhh, good old Activision, I'm glad they're back to their shenanigans, they were pretty quiet lately.
While I must admit that I agree with you, CoD game releases are incredibly predictable, I found World at War and Black Ops were a lot more involving and generally better than the official CoD games. SO I don't think I'd have a problem with a Black Ops 2, not as much as a problem with MW4 or CoD 5.
*sigh* Activision has gone mad with power...
Ill-will? ACTIVISION!? Perish the thought. What would surprise me is if this was some sort of ploy to dupe those following these posts into thinking its Blops2 but turns out to be a brand spanking new series. Though that would likely result in as much rage. It's activision after all...
What would have been hilarious is if Gameblog actually accepted to take down the original story, only to replace it with a completely different story stating that, along with the French Amazon.com revealing Black Ops 2, Activision also told them to take down the original story.
If this is true allow me to play Activision a song on the worlds smallest violin and QQ moar. I may not like CoD games but did anyone not see this coming? I am fairly sure they said BO was a once off affair but they do have enough time spent on the games to do an actual CoD 5 so all they have are spin offs based around the 1 engine with some changes.
I would have thanked them. Seriously, have Activision put out anything good aside from Call of Duty and even the quality of The recent games in the series have been questionable. Mayby they're just mad they can't keep studios anymore.
Hey, let's not forget the dark horse candidate for that position, our friends at Ubisoft. Seriously, a major dick move by Activision. If they didn't have Blizzard under their banner, they'd have surprisingly little, yet they act like they are something special. What is it about major publishers that make them think that? They don't even design the games, yet they are the important ones? 10 years from now, when digital distribution has basically destroyed the publishing industry, they are going to be wondering what they did wrong, and they still won't get it.
Wait all my friends just bought Modern Warfare 3.(well not just but it seems that way) Im really going to have to buy another COD game to play with them this year? For their sakes i hope the elite account status carry's over and doesnt cost more.
OMG THERE'S GOING TO BE A BLACK OPS 2?! Seriously Activision, this is hardly a surprise to anyone. Get over yourselves.
| |
It won't effect them at all, because those same people later go out and buy it anyway, despite what they said. It happened with the MW2 boycotts, it happened with the LFD2 boycotts, and it happened with origin. Companies keep putting out these things and raising prices because they know that no matter how much the customers complain and claim they'll never buy again, they still do. Sad but true.
I assure you that I am not one of those people. I haven't bought anything from both Activision and Ubisoft and I intend to keep it that way. If only people could stick to their principles.
Sad really. Treyarch, up until this point, had at least been trying to do something DIFFERENT from Infinity Ward. While IW went the way of Modern Warfare every year Treyarch made World at War and Black Ops two games set in entirely different time periods. The reason Call of Duty got so stale so quick was that they just kept going back to the same guns and same time periods, it's why I kept MW3 for maybe two weeks before taking it right back to gamestop where I got it. SSDCOD. Now they're both circling the drain, MW3 and Black Ops 2, really? I made the mistake of buying COD games a few too many times, but not again... If anyone should be outraged its the fans.
It's as if they're trying to hide the fact that CoD is a yearly thing.
My friend just told me the sun will rise tomorrow. I think we should get a angry mob together and beat the crap out of him for ruining the suspense.
I know, right? You got to break the news (albeit accidentally) and get a ton of press and Internet attention, AND now you don't have to go see the next shitty Transformers product. Win/win?
I honestly can't tell if you're being serious :X Even if you count the games before Modern Warfare 1 (Call of Duty 4 whatever) there has been a Call of Duty released every year since 2005. There is absolutely no reason to believe 2012 would be any different, or 2013 or 2014 ad infinitum. If you are joking, I might add that any good piece of humor has to have some kind of exaggeration to make it really funny... unless of course "For their sakes i hope the elite account status carry's over and doesnt cost more" WAS the exaggeration, because no, of course it's not going to carry over. They can't even hear you complaining because they are drowning in money as we speak.
I know it's really cool to hate on Activision and everything, but honestly i'm on their side. They wanted to keep it quiet, they asked the site nicely to take the news down, the site refused. Lets be honest, uninviting them to a preview and taking down the ads on their site... so what? Hardly what i consider 'bullying the little guy'. If the site even actually cares about these 'punishments', then one saying i think definitely applies would be 'don't bite the hand that feeds you'.
Sure sounds like it! I don't know what they would expect though! If they arn't planning of doing it somewhere new, then what does it matter that it was released early... its mundane news... Its not as exciting as 'where will the next elderscrolls take place?' or 'where will the next assassins creed take place?' or even 'where will the next GTA take place?' as these have bigger implications to the fans... surely for the CoD games the pertinant questions are 'what new guns and features will we have, that wern't in the original?'
I wish that I could give Gameblog some money. I want to show that I support them and not a company that is going to bully some journalists for reporting something so trivial. You go, Gamesblog. Edit: I think, OP, that you can remove the "allegedly" from the headline. It's pretty clear, in my opinion, that they're pretty mad.
Interesting... Call of Duty refuses to die with more tenacity than a New York cockroach. I wonder what would happen if Treyarch had an original idea and, oh, i don't know, maybe gave the zombies guns? Oh right, Spec Ops from MW3 would happen. I'll be perfectly honest, I'm starting to get tired of companies turning at least one game in a series out per year. Give the games time to have legitimate ideas, time to get rid of all the bugs, time to make everything balanced. It's starting to get as bad as NFS, the way they blast games out like they need to make more money or something.
Damn why couldn't they have posted that earlier. I'm out 100 bucks, I bet on south west. Activision, really..... *Sigh*. I can see that you wanted to tell everyone yourselves, but, your mad they did and gave away the unimaginative title that everyone but a man named Joseph Warwick of 423 South Lockshire Way, York, UK was expecting.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S96DVTtvXqY That is all, activision.

Hmm...
Well EA has been leading the way for ass hole-dom recently. Activision needed some bad PR to catch up with EA and figured that being a douche-nozzle to a rumour report about the title of the next CoD would be good to even the playing field.
They succeeded.
