Ubisoft Opens Mexico City Office

Paris-based developer Ubisoft announces the opening of a new business office in Mexico City.

As part of an effort to establish business relationships in Latin America, worldwide game developer and publisher Ubisoft has opened a business office in Mexico City. The office will start with a "core team" led by area manager Etienne-Charles Nobert, and supervised by Oliver Ernst, general manager of Ubisoft's Canadian and Latin American operations.

"Opening an office in Mexico is a strategic decision for Ubisoft," said Ernst. "The Mexican market shows more stability than before and we believe it provides an amazing opportunity for growth in video games." Commenting on this weekend's Electronic Games Show (EGS) at the World Trade Center in Mexico City, Ernst added, "We look forward to showing off a selection of our most highly anticipated titles for the Holiday 2006 season."

The news follows yesterday's announcement by Ubisoft of increased current and predicted revenue growth. The studio will be the company's 22nd business office, and its first in Latin America.

But will they be able to throw the games over the fence? :(

Why stop there when they're already playing games WITH the fence?

Wow. That's really something. I guess the industry is trying to grab up every undertapped market they can reach, huh?
