Obsidian To Develop 'Alien' RPG

SEGA has announced that Obsidian will be making the Alien RPG for next-generation consoles and the PC.

As previously reported, there are two games based on the Alien franchise in the works according to SEGA. The first has been confirmed, with the Knights of the Old Republic 2 and Neverwinter Nights 2 developer Obsidian at the helm. As you might expect, Obsidian is making an RPG out of the popular action series.

"We are thrilled to be working with the great production and publishing teams at SEGA to deliver the ultimate in-depth Alien experience to gamers worldwide," said Feargus Urquhart, CEO of Obsidian Entertainment. "Building an epic RPG with a license as heralded as the Alien franchise is truly a great honor."

"With Obsidian Entertainment's development pedigree, they were our first choice to bring the Alien franchise to the RPG universe," said Simon Jeffery, President and COO, SEGA of America, Inc. "They are the only developer for us that could effectively combine the Alien mythology with compelling RPG gameplay to create the ultimate Alien experience."

Aside from the fact that it will be an RPG, details about the new game are sparse. The other Alien game in development will be announced on Friday.

wow, i had kinda skimmed over the initial announcement but an rpg from obsidian could be great.

rpg an aliens, can't go wrong...i hope.

God, imagine the skill tree.

God, imagine the skill tree.

hahahaha yeah!

I just hope it has the slow alien development from the early movies, not the ultrafast alien gestation from the AVP movies.

Bitch gets implanted and four minutes later theres aliens popping out all over.

On the one hand, Obsidian are the only people who I can see successfully making an RPG out of the Alien franchise. On the other hand, trying to imagine how they will do so successfully is giving me a headache.
