Stop complaining about the DRM and Online only issues. If there were't so many thieving douchebags around this would not be necessary. What do you expect? This is the future of PC games. Its not Blizzards fault. They do deserve to get payed for there work and if you are so dead set against it don't by it. Its a free country.

I have many other issues with D3, such as the cartoon art style and lack of skill tree, but the mild annoyance of online only to prevent cheaters and pirates I support.

Why is DRM crap? I just gave a good reason here. But Blizzard won't be complaining about the smaller sales on Diablo III because of their bullshit Auction House which they get a cut of every dollar purchase. Of course some of that will be put to maintenance of the game servers required for the always-online content, but you can bet there will be enough left over for steak dinners and mansions for the crew in Irvine.

I can't find that video of Bender laughing, so I have to write out

HAHAHAAA! Oh wait, you're serious. Let me laugh even harder. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!

I love that that's your image of how the programmers at Blizzard live. It reminds me of how Fox News thought all teachers made boatloads of money last year on taxpayer dollar.

Seriously, man, if you hate that Real Auction House, fine. I do too. But I hate it because it represents people who take games way too seriously, not because I have unrealistic views on where money's going

Here ya go.
One of my favourites. (avoiding low post content to)

Are you implying every single Blizzard game on the PC was not a bestseller despite being possible to pirate?

They'd be getting paid shittons regardless, don't you worry about poor old Blizzard.

And I would agree with you, if DRM ever actually DID prevent pirates and cheaters. Seeing as it doesn't actually do that, its only remaining function is to exercise greater control over the paying customers.

Normally I'd say "Fair enough, just play single player for now", But since this game is always-online, it means even people who just want to play alone might be stuck.
I'll probably won't buy it any time soon.

I don't understand how anyone can support a company that thinks changing the lord of terror into this is a good idea.

You know what the funny thing is? When asked why they're making Diablo look like a girl, Blizzard's answer was: "Diablo is not bound by our genders" or some shit to that extent. So if Diablo is not bound by our human bodies, why the fuck does he start resembling a chick after he

Twilight_guy:
Hum, I think I counted less posts about the issue of log-ins and more posts about not buying the game or complaining that it has feature X or both. I wonder if this counts as 'post unrelated to topic.' Oh well, guess people must love calculus with all these tangents going on.

You don't think someone's readiness to purchase the title or features related to the game's online requirements could possibly be relevant to it's potential log-in issues? Do I have to wait for a story that literally mentions a feature by name before I bring it up even if bares on the topic at hand? If people were talking about The Avengers I would understand.

To those people who keep saying whats the big deal about being online only, you just don't get it. If there is a single player option in a game then you shouldn't have to be online to play it. Simple as that. I don't know what else I can say to get it through your thickheaded stubborness. Also those who keep going on about how they don't have a problem being online they've always had that, here's a newsflash, not everyone is you and not everyone has the same benefits as you do there is a distinct lack of empathy from these types of people who refuse to try and understand the situation of others.

Anyway rant over and just saying the always online did kill my interest in Diablo 3. Also seeing that picture of the new Diablo I find it looks too much like Kerrigan Queen of Blades to be considered Diablo now.

Guess who won't have a log-in problem?

...is that the right answer? Is it the pirates?

Or did you mean the Swedes? Damn those Swedes!! >;o

Yep, that's the right answer.

I won't be having any launch issues,

Yep, that's the right answer.

D3 is about as pirate-able as WoW. Same tech. So have fun with completely sans-DRM client that requires your pirate friends to write a private server to actually draw any NPCs or items.

I know, right? Those pesky details ...

What i don't understand why in _every_ d3 thread there are ppl crying about how always online DRM killed their interest in the game. Why are 'them' then looking through these topics, and keep posting about how you don't care about the game anymore.

No offense to anyone by any means. Personally i am just getting pissed to see this always online crying. I sympathise if some of you don't (whatever the reason is then..) have access to the internet 24/7, but seriously, stfu already.

Maybe... People want the game not to be online-only and are frustrated that it is?

And here we go again complaining about complainers. I thought during the ME3 deal people would've learned something.

Personally I wish both sides would shut the fuck up for awhile and give me ears a break...

What, you don't like girls?

Loop Stricken:
What, you don't like girls?

I do like girls. I don't like the fact that Diablo, the "Lord of Terror", the "brother" of Baal and Mephisto, suddenly favors a skinny physique, child bearing hips and extra arms (for the chores, no doubt) over being a musclebound hulk and all that jazz. Remember, he isn't bound by his host's body, which means he wants to look this way.

I loved how someone on /v/ put it.

Anon:
He possessed Leoric's tiny, wimpy teenage son and once he released himself he took his true form. The host body for his soul doesn't mean SHIT. Once he has access to his powers he contorts the body to whatever he sees fit.

So this means to me that Diablo turned into a giant cocksucking faggot and is desperate for a shapely female form. I have never been angrier in my whole life. My ass owes me a new chair.

Not digging the design itself, either. Shove horns onto everything, that'll be cool fo' sho'.

It's funny to see people who complain about the RMAH also complain about it not being an offline game...

It's clear that your 'opinion' is the cries and whims of ignorance.

(Also sucks to have bad connection, QQ fellas.)

This is why I'm somewhat glad I'm getting the game a day after launch.

Pre-order comes to Poland on 15th, but it will get to my town on 16th...

Oh my god. I might have to wait a whole 40 seconds before logging in. The horror!

Whiny brats. Who the hell wrote this piece?

Grey Carter:

Blizzard recomends players go and register their BattleTags right now to avoid the inevitable new user rush, and presumably to ensure you score that hilarious "HarryPothead420" user name before anyone else thinks of it.

Small point. BattleTags are not unique. Half a dozen people can get the name "HarryPothead420", considering you get a completely random #2578 number attached it upon creation anyway.

If it's so clear I'm sure you can explain it in text.

My connection is fine, and it will probably stay that way. But if it wasn't, that would be a pretty unnecessary insult, don't you think? Does it hurt so bad that not everyone likes your toy?

You don't wait 40 seconds before logging in, you wait 40 seconds before trying again. Who knows how many times you'll have to do that? It's not uncommon for multiplayer games like this to be totally unplayable upon release. We don't know how bad it will be, but apparently Blizzard anticipates it will be bad enough to give us a head's up.

done good sir, and a few weeks ago no less.

for the ... >.> seemingly 3 of you on this forum who AREN'T pissing and moaning how it's 'ruined for ever', see you in game :D

I'll just go without. 60 bucks is too much to pay for this game. Given how little I care, I think 6 bucks is too much.

Now that's a bolony argument if I ever heard one.

Blizzard announce throttling measures that will actually prevent log in servers from being overloaded. And people read this as THIS LAUNCH WILL BE UNPLAYABLE! Yet they are saying: "We took measures to prevent log in server overload and this is what we did."

How the hell does that make any sense? One log in from same IP per 40 seconds just means people cannot connect spam the server in eagerness. Basically same as chat spam prevention system used in public chat within game. It's not even new.

Of course Themis Media yellow press style does not help at all in getting the message across.

Meh I bet the Torchlight 2 launch will go better.

Fine, it's bologna. These games often have a rocky start. I don't see what you're so worked up for.

Rooster Cogburn:

Not worked up, just amazed.

BTW, what are those "these games"? Diablo 3 tech is shared with World of Warcraft, which isn't quite famous for bad launches.

See what I mean about bad titles yet poor transfer of information? Blizz say they took measures to prevent problems we saw a bit at last WoW expansion launch. So your point about "these games" is quite uninformed, I suspect you based it on the quality article posted here, no?

Dexter111:
Just know, that by buying this game you're supporting Always-Online DRM without an Offline Mode, No LAN, Real Money Auction House / Pay2Win, No Mods, Dumbification by removal of Skills/Stats and you're directly feeding your money to this guy if you do that...

image

If other games "learn" from Diablo III and move even more towards that way, if you see increasing Always-On DRM or Auction House Ripoffs know that YOU, YES YOU are responsible.

And you know what? I'd rather support Kotick than the numerous stuck-up indie studios who think that remaking a game that was made about a decade ago makes them the Morgan Freeman of the gaming world.

And if you spent less time nostalgia-ising over the previous Diablos and more time actually playing them you'd remember that:

a) "Mods" in this sort of game translates into "Uber-Gear, Map Revealers & One-Hit Killers"

b) Out of all those Skills most were just "put one point into this" steps to the skills that were actually good.

c) If there was a build whose stat allocation wasn't "Enough Strength and Dexterity for gear, everything else into Vitality." I'd like to hear of it.

Are you saying WoW expansions suffer connection issues at launch? By "these games" I meant online multiplayer PC games generally, which is what I have been talking about this whole time. Are you saying those issues are not common, and that I am 'quite uninformed' for saying otherwise? I have no idea if WoW expansions have smooth releases or not. Like I said, I don't know how bad these issues will be for Diablo III.

Do you realize you can make your point without being ridiculously condescending? You are treating me like a drooling idiot who can only form an opinion based on a single article. Maybe I am inclined to agree with parts of the article because they match opinions I already held. You can criticize the article and even disagree with me about it's merit or content without resorting to insults.

You say you're not worked up, but you're not doing a good job convincing me.

Someone is going to have a VERY bad launch day.

Somewhat ruined your point there, I feel.

rembrandtqeinstein:
My interest dropped to 0 when I found out the always online requirement.

Binding of Isaac expansion at the end of the month, time to drop another 80 hours into that one. I still have Dungeons of Dredmor to finish post-expansion. Legend of Grimrock has at least 40 hours in it. Torchlight 2 will be out soon enough.

Plenty of other stuff to do and plenty places to spend money that don't contribute to Bobby Kotick's hooker and blow fund.

I love how tl2 is pre-orderable with no release date.

Still did it ^^

i Would diablo if liked the games much but i never played when younger, so its not an issue to me lol.

I'm ah. . .I'll just be over here enjoying the game with friends, online gamer buddies, and family and leave you lot to your consumer knows best bonfire roast.

I wish my body had chosen to be sick next week instead of this one. Darn.

I just tried to create a batle tag, but that was down as well. Yay no offline play! eye rolling ensues
