Game Critics Announces Best of E3 2012 Award Nominees
Where the fuck is Watch_Dogs? Not a single mention, not a single award for a game that saved Ubisofts otherwise awkward but functional press conference? That game looked like the manifestation of coolness mixed in with a near future setting and interesting and inventive gameplay mechanics and enormous potential! Not a mention, really? Not a bloody mention? Fine, The Last of Us looked cool. I hope it is as cool as it looks and isn't scripted to hell, because a fair bit of it looked scripted but Naughty Dog says it isn't. Calumon: Nintendoland was a game? I thought it was about a man pausing a video to describe what's going on in some room with big words.
Wow, so Halo 4 gets a 'best in show' nomination for being basically Halo 3 with Metroid Prime's Space Pirates in the jungle from Crysis, but Watch Dogs - the one game reveal that was an actual, genuine surprise - gets snubbed in every single category is could possibly get nominated in? How can they possibly overlook what was possibly the best game debut from the best conference of the week?
I say the voting was fixed.
I find your lack of Watch Dogs disturbing. I am not the one to bring the accusation of bias so easily. So i am gonna assume they were drunk.
I second this. I second this so hard. No Watch_Dogs anywhere is a damn shame.
No mention of "Watch Dogs" whatsoever? Doth mine eyes deceive me!?!?
Gonna join in on the Watch Dogs WTFery here. Don't get me wrong, a bunch of the games shown at E3 looked really kick ass and all, but Watch Dogs is the one that blew me and my friends away. Hell, we're still talking about that demo, so I'm really surprised that it got left out.
Yeah, the one of these games that showed us serious game play and it gets nothing? Total fucking disgrace.
Add me to the ever-growing list of people saying "No Watch_Dogs, what the hell?". I'm going to assume there is some sort of reason for it besides idiocy, but I have no idea what it would be.
Gonna have to add my voice to the choir here.... WHERE THE HELL IS WATCH_DOGS? Halo 4 for Best of Show? Are you kidding? Watch_Dogs's gameplay demo was far more interesting!
....Beyond? The Last of Us? What the hell is Unfinished Swan? WHERE IS WATCH_DOGS?
....what?
WHAT. RAGE....BUILDING....
Yeah let's just make every comment a "Where's Watch Dogs?" comment because that's really the only thing worth saying. Deserves at least a nomination for Best of Show and an easy win for Best Original.
It look like I'm not the only one who notice WatchDogs was listed in any category at all. Well I'm glad at least that other game The Last Of Us had got a couple of awards as it's the only game I cared from those game listings.
Well Im guessing Watch Dogs didnt get any award because it didnt have a hands on demo otherwise it would have won a lot of them hands down , but I'm allright with the games that won I guess.
And it appears this bandwagon is just gonna keep growing, because I have no clue why Watch Dogs was snubbed. May there's some kind of exclusionary rule for games with more than a year of development left?
I was going to come here and complain about the lack of Watch Dogs but thankfully EVERYONE has beat me to it.
Damnit! We always end up running out! Why do we never stock extra for these E3's?! Edit: At least a single fuck wasn't wasted on Dead Space 3.
Why Watch Dogs was snubbed: In order to compete, a game be shown in hands-on playable format. Unfortunately the demos setup on the floor were not hands-on playable. Sad to see also that The Escapist is not listed as one of the judges.
No watch dogs? At first I thought that the escapist had edited them out of the list, but the official website says the same thing. When will the escapist get back to proper journalism and at LEAST give us ONE article about this game to at least bring it onto par with the MINIMUM level of coverage of EVERY OTHER GAME at E3? And no; I do not give a crap if you want to suspend me for calling you out on your "journalism" failing to cover all games equally. In fact: I just reported this post so you don't have to
Tsk, tsk, ignore the only game that was anyway original or interesting. What kind of modus operandi are these fellows operating by?
No Watch Dogs or Far Cry 3? This vote was fucking rigged!
Where is Watch Dogs? One of the few trailers to show ACTUAL GAMEPLAY, and like, ten minutes of it, and it actually looked cool and wasn't really done to that degree before, and it was somewhat theatrical and portrayed npcs like real people.... somebody hand me a table
My Thoughts exactly. Watch Dogs was the coolest shit.
Holy shit, who fuck cares about Watch_Dogs. Everyone is bitching and complaining about that while missing the main screwed up thing about this list. None of the games listed were a surprise at all. It's a damn sad day when we get to an electronics show and there isn't a single surprise to be had about it. The footage is so lame and the list of things coming out of E3 is the among the saddest things I have ever seen. They should really just stop having these.
well yeah we know the list is messed up, it's just that watch dogs not show up anywhere on that list is the most messed up to begin with like, even if they aren't into "artsy" things specifically (and that's a stretch for this game) it still had cool explosions and good graphics and a badass being a jerk to the general public come onnnnn
Watch Dogs isn't there because we barely know anything about it. 10 minutes of gameplay isn't enough to give an award over. Yeah, it was some damn awesome gameplay but we don't even know what genre it is.
Well...as much Watch Underscore Dogs is awesome, I kinda have to agree with it not qualifying to be nominated.
| |
I'm seeing the last of us winning a whole load of shiny baubbles! And now to add my voice to the "where the fucks the watch dogs!?!"
Game Critics Announces Best of E3 2012 Award Nominees
Dishonored, Halo 4 and The Last Of Us lead the pack of nominees for the Game Critics Awards Best of E3 2012.
E3 is over, and you know what that means: That's right, it's time for more E3! Specifically, the announcement of the Game Critics Awards Best of E3 2012 nominees, a collection of titles across numerous categories that made a big splash at the big show. Most of them aren't going to shock anyone with their presence, but I think it's fair to say that there are a few surprises here and there. So, without further ado, the noms:
So, what's interesting? It's great to see Dishonored up for Best of Show and Best Original Game, although I don't really get why it's not up for Best PC Game as well; those that are are PC exclusives, but most of the titles up for Best Console game are cross-platform, with PC versions as well. Not that it really matters, I suppose, and it's nice to see games like XCom: Enemy Unknown and Hawken getting some (hopefully) well-deserved attention. That's not to suggest that games like Assassin's Creed and Halo don't deserve their nominations too, but the presence of hugely popular triple-A franchises on a "Best of E3" list is hardly unexpected.
It's also interesting to note that the PlayStation 3 is the most-nominated platform in 2012, surpassing the Xbox 360 for the first time in this console generation, and to see an iOS game up for consideration in the Best Handheld/Mobile category. The times, they are a-changin'.
The Best of E3 2012 winners will be announced on June 26. To find out more about the nominees and the judges, among whom is our very own El Comandante Steve Butts, go to gamecriticsawards.com.
