Rumor: Sony Started PS4 Development in 2010

A former R&D director's profile hints at the earliest beginnings of the PS4.

There have been plenty of rumors over the past few months over what kind of features the next PlayStation will have or just when we'll get to see it, but one question remains: just how long Sony has been working on the PS4? According to the profile of one former Sony employee, work may have begun on the PlayStation 4 as early as mid-2010.

Former SCEA research and development director Attila Vass' LinkedIn profile shows that he has worked on various PlayStation platforms for years, including the graphics library and security systems for the "next generation PlayStation" (a.k.a. "the best console ever to be made") from August 2010 to April 2012. His work for other PlayStation platforms, such as the PS Vita, are listed separately on his profile, suggesting that the "next generation PlayStation" listed might have been the earliest incarnation of the PS4.

"I worked on graphics (COLLADA, PSGL) and a lot of network related technologies (advertising, telemetry, PVRs) for the Playstation2-x, PSP, Vita and Next Generation platforms," read a summary on Vass' work. "Platform security was occupying most of my time."

Considering the Playstation Vita section says August 2010, I'm confused as well.

Mother of God...

The PS4 is a time travel machine! Someone from the future hid it somewhere in the past for almost a century, perhaps knowing that the world wouldn't be ready for it until then. Or maybe he was just storing it for someone. Someone important who would know what to do with it.

So if Back to the Future taught us anything, it's that 2015 is a very important year for time travel, meaning...

The PS4 will be officially released in 2015!

Thank you, humble time traveler!

pfft, silly R&D guy, everyone knows that the order that they make consoles are as follows:
-you announce the console at approximately the same time as your "rival"
-you slap the console together before the release date
-you sell the console

I mean, its sheer lunacy to suggest that data/prototypes could be researched/developed prior to announcement, not to mention the previous experience from past consoles.

so either Sony decided that they didn't want to wait tell PS9

to put this technology out, or this time traveler doesn't know how to work a keyboard.
