Steam Summer Sale Goes Live

image

In case you weren't paying attention the first time I said it, the Steam Summer Sale is live!

The truth is that there's not much more to say than that. Although it's a bit behind schedule, the Steam Summer Sale is now alive and kicking, so you should probably head over there and see what's up. But since I have space to fill, here's a tiny preview of what's in store:

  • Legend of Grimrock - 60 percent off, making it $5.99
  • Modern Warfare 3 - half-price, which means it's now $29.99
  • Portal 2 - 75 percent off, leaving it at $4.99 - that's five bucks for Portal 2, people
  • Portal, for those who are really behind the times, is also 75 percent off - $2.49!
  • Divine Divinity - 33 percent off, dropping it to a stupidly cheap $3.99
  • Hard Reset Extended Edition - 75 percent off, taking it to an everything-explodes $3.75
  • X Superbox - 50 percent off, which means $19.99 for enough hardcore space exploration to keep you busy until you die!

There are publisher packages on sale as well, and new daily deals happening every day from now through July 22. And yes, the above list does tend to reflect my own personal interests and tastes in gaming, but so what? It's the Steam Summer Sale, which means that no matter what you're into, you're going to be able to find at least two deals that knock your socks off. Clean off!

Store.steampowered.com, people. Wallets at the ready. Let's do this thing.

I really wish I hadn't read this. I bought a game at full price yesterday from steam. ah well, these things happen.

No mention of Flash Sales and Community's Choice Sale? Guess you were too busy trying to catch your money which were trying to fly to Bellevue ;)

Would be nice if the steam store wasn't overloaded and unavailable...

Ahhh Steam, the most beloved of DRM.
Well there goes some money I was saving. Not much since these sales are great, but there it goes.

Indeed, just tried having a look to the other bundles available and got the same message.

Well, assuming Steam will survive the understandably heavy server load right now, I may consider Hard Reset. Anyone know if the extended edition is any good? I remember being kinda unimpressed with the demo of the original version.

and predictibly, the servers crashed. No wonder they are sceptical on cloud gaming. If they went head long into it they would need servers that could rival the government's.

Sounds nice, shame I can't fucking buy anything because as normal valve has spent all the massive piles of money they made on hookers and cocaine instead of severs that can actually handle above average traffic.

My Wallet!
Argh i was just saving up for a new computer godamnit!

I hear Steam pulled a Diablo 3, What is it with Developers NOT wanting customers to play games?

Question about Arkham City: I know GFWL is needed for online play, but can I just not log on and play it offline?
Resolved. Time to get the wallet out.

Dang it, I was saving to get a TB hard drive for my projects and College. And I've got no way of taking out the money. Why Steam!? Why must you have good deals!?

Aww, I'm disappointed it doesn't look like there is a big achievement event this time.

A Diablo 3 would require always-on DRM, something Valve does not do.

I see Might and Magic Heroes VI is on sale. Now THERE is a worthy game.

P.S. Thanks

I think this is where I look at my wallet and start giggling madly.

Also, if you can put up with having to reload pages all the time, you can currently get through. It's a pain in the ass but it's not like the servers are completely non functional.

...

The Steam Summer Sale would start on that day I send in my laptop for repairs.

Well, at least I'll be saving some money I suppose.

You can buy them here http://store.steampowered.com/ And just install them later

...I both love and hate you at the same time.

This is great, because I'm out of work for the next two weeks with a sprained knee... on the other hand, this is bad because I'm out of work for the next two weeks with a sprained knee.

Atleast what are you on right now?
Pc mobile,Etc?

Well... Shit...

There goes my holiday paycheck.

Well, right now I'm at work. Pretending to work.

I generally play on my Macbook Pro back home, but I have Windows 7 as a separate partition.

I like to think of my laptop as a horrible hybrid of both OS's.

Don't hold your breath. If you check out your community page, you'll see a section called Badges. In badges you'll see that you can get the first level of the badge, "Steam Summer Sale 2012".

Okay but it looks like you need to install steam to be able to buy it, but you don't need to download it immediately.
So you could download steam at work buy the game via the net and don't start downloading till you get your laptop back.

Sounds like a plan.

I'll go with that.

Steam sale is live, oh wait it just crashed from heavy traffic

If you listen closely, you can hear EA folks sobbing in fetal position whilst crying "They're doing it wrong!".

I guess now is a good as ever opportunity to pick up a Left 4 Dead 1+2 bundle, now if they only would have a "kill zombie day!" event...

So far that just looks like misc steam badges, not any kind of awesome ticket event or anything.

Glad I waited, I thought about getting the expansion pack to Binding of Issac, but thought I would wait till the summer sale. It only went from $3.00 to $1.49 but still, half off is half off!

Goddammit.

Oh, well. Here's hoping ME2 drops in price so I can snag that up.

I hate Valve. Yet I love them. Why is it that they make me crave to pay for their service? HELP ME!

holding out for rayman origins for 10 bucks, crysis 2 for 10 bucks, and darksiders for 5 bucks.

Haven't played the expansion myself but I suspect that if you didn't care for the demo, there won't be anything in the DLC to change your mind. I really enjoyed the original game, but it was very much a one-trick pony.

Well, good thing about Digital distribution is that nobody gets hurt. Imagine this happening in retail? People trampled to death under the mighty waves of game-hungry nerds.
