Bethesda Unveils Dragonborn Trailer

Let Max von Sydow sing you to sleep with a new lullaby about bad news in the sky.

Did you think you were the only one? I've got some bad news for you, sunshine. You aren't the first Dragonborn to stride across Skyrim and this other guy wasn't nearly as sweet and fun-tastic as you. In fact, he ruled over Solstheim in the name of the dragons - but he did not serve them. And now, like the dragons themselves, he seeks to return in Dragonborn, the now-officially-upcoming DLC for The Elder Scrolls V: Skryim.

Another day, another ancient evil seeking to arise and terrorize the land once again, and once again likely not with half the personality of the great Dagoth Ur. Speaking of which, if you're having trouble finding Solstheim on the map of Skyrim, it's because it's not part of Skyrim at all but part of Vvardenfell, better known as the Dunmer nation of Morrowind. Solstheim, which also had a heavy Nord presence, is the island northwest of Vvardenfell that served as the setting for the Morrowind expansion Bloodmoon.

Why Bethesda opted for Solstheim rather than Skyrim remains a tale to be told, but it did reveal that Dragonborn will come out on the Xbox 360 on December 4 and cost 1600 Microsoft points. PC and PlayStation 3 owners will, as usual, have to wait.

This just makes me want Morrowind remade in the Skyrim engine.

Still not going to shell out for any of the DLC until the GOTYE is out for PC.

Oh my.......

*collapses into gibbering nerdish mess*

If it plays like an expansion (Shivering Isles) rather than DLC (Dawnguard/KotN) then I'll probably take a look. Seems promising. I will need to bring out my only character that did the main storyline for this...Time to come out of retirement and throw some fireballs.

Wait on the PC again?

Gawddammit.

I was hoping the Hearthfire was the last delayed release DLC. I was under the impression they just had a 2 dlc deal with Microsoft.

w/e I'll be getting it anyway. Sad to see the rumors of riding dragons is happening though. Doesn't seem to fit the lore, but maybe they'll explain it enough in game.

Interested to see what that spectral looking armor is. Bound Armor making a return?

I spotted Telvanni and Redoran architecture.

Sold.

EDIT: Is that an Ascended Sleeper at 1:00?!?!

Well that sure was a Vvanderfell trailer. First Skyrim DLC I'm actually considering getting.

I get to ride a freaking dragon...

Can this come out sooner? XD

I thought Microsofts exclusivity deal was only for the first two DLC's, why is it being delayed for the PC and PS3 as well?

Who was the first Dragonborn? Tiber Septim was one, but I doubt he was the first.

Here's hoping this is Skyrim's Shivering Isles in terms of quantity and quality. The Shivering Isles is still my favorite Elder Scrolls content.

Sweet! I can't wait to go back to Morrowind and see all the fun stuff. When do we get...

Fuck you Microsoft. Your Xbox period of exclusivity can go die in a fire.

delay again? fyou bethesta

Now this looks like the kind of balls-out fantasy stuff I was hoping for in Skyrim, but instead got bandits and Draugr. Hopefully this delivers, it looks damned awesome with a lot of interesting stuff going on. I noticed a sort of "magic elevator" at some point in the trailer, which may be a sign of some neat skyscraper-like structures, and of course riding a dragon, while totally ridiculous, should be freaking awesome.

As Alcaste said, if it's more like Shivering Isles rather than Dawnguard, then I will definitely be getting this. Though now with my buffed out computer I might wait to get it repurchase on PC with the core game when it's on sale.

Yes!

I always like it when DLC's are an expansion on the original story instead of an off-shoot. I also like that the DLC is developing your character as a Dragonborn instead of a mage or vampire or warrior.

It is now a requirement that every Elder Scrolls trailer from here on out should have narration from Max von Sydow.

Love the remixed (ambient?) main theme.

Sorry I was almost going to rant about the 360 and Microsoft but I wont waste my time on that.

I will be getting it, since it looks pretty cool.
Hopefully its a bit bigger then Dawnguard though.

That didn't really sound like Max von Sydow.

Mechanics for dragon riding? Neat.

Mods based on the mechanics for dragon riding? All the want in the world, my friends.

I don't think the Greybeard in the trailer was his character. Looks like one of the other guys... though, I thought they couldn't speak normally?

God damn it, I'd really want to get this, but I'm still going to wait for the GOTY edition.

Max Von Sydow was Esbern. Christopher Plummer was Arngeir.

This man was neither.

Bleh, all the old men in that game look the same. I guess that probably was Ebern in the trailer. Makes sense.

It's not really surprising he wouldn't come back for DLC though. You know how stingy Bethesda is with their VO budget.

And for some reason Bethesda still doesn't want my money since I don't own an Xbox. I guess they won't ever be getting my money now.

You know what's wrong with Skyrim these days? EVERYONE'S OBSESSED WITH DEATH!

Gasp! An evil Dragonborne!!? Quickly Dovahkiin stop murdering those children so you can raise their corpses as a zombie thrall army and go stop him before he does something bad!

looks good, wonder how far we are from a GOTY

What I don't understand is, why the article does not feature a sentence which highlights the fact, that one CAN RIDE A FRIGGIN DRAGON?!

While I may be not the biggest Skyrim fan, I damn loved fighting dragons and absorbing their souls. Being able to ride one is pretty exciting for me, since I love flying and would love the look at the beautiful Skyrim scenery from above.

Besides, dismounting from a dragon at the borders of a town is hell of entrance.

Most definatly will be getting this, it is looking awesome. I really hope I can get my main PC working again so I can play more Skyrim as this makes me want to level up my character ready for it.

There are a whole bunch of texture and model mods for Morrowind. Not quite Skyfandell but close.

In fact, the best one is on the Escapist! http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/119908-Morrowind-Overhaul-3-Modernizes-Morrowind

this dlc looks interesting but i have the same reaction to the other dlc. i will wait for the goty edition on the PC. i already own skyrim for the ps3(christmas present) and even if i could get any of the dlc i wouldn't buy it and wait for the goty edition on the PC.

what wrong with the exclusive for a month or so. at best it gives Bethesda extra time to make the PC release more bug free. at worst you just wait and in the grand scheme of life wait a month a longer for a video game dlc is meaningless.

The next Elder Scrolls game I buy will be the GOTY/Ultimate edition of TES 6. Getting sick of having to wait for DLC because MS buys exclusivity every time. There should be some kind of law against that, seriously.

This looks awesome. You shall have my moneys Bethesda, don't you worry.

I think the possible comparison to Shivering Isles can go one step further, as it hints at Hermaeus Mora starting at 0:40.

It shows the player being dragged into a book by vines/tentacles/whatever and Hermaeus sometimes takes the form of a bunch of tentacles. Furthermore, the abundance of pages flying around hints at his realm, Apocrypha, said to be an endless library. At 0:49 and other parts, the buildings seem to be at least partly made of piles of books. Lastly, in his daedric quest, he foreshadows working with the player in the future, with the player as his champion.

As for the rest of the trailer, it seems very awesome, especially with the sheer amount of new content the trailer hints at.
