Days of Future Past Connects All Previous X-Men Films

ZippyDSMlee:
Why? All of them sucked but First Class and even it had a few to many WTF moments.

Because when you're watching a series about a group literally called Uncanny, the last thing you need is something weird and amazing.

Verlander:
No way! I was talking about this just today when I saw Ellen Page has signed up to revive her role as Shadowcat.
I imagine they are going to have to pull some "different dimension" bull to get around various continuity errors though *cough*Beast*cough*

Ugh. Beast wasn't a continuity error, there are just two people called Hank McCoy. Hell, you'd have to completely forget everything you know about the series to think otherwise.

Mutation happens at puberty. The Hank McCoy we see in X2 is 40 years old. He is not Beast, and never could be beast. He's just a dude who happens to be named Hank McCoy.

Poor scripting/plot issues are not uncanny, if they were the first 3 films would be perfect.

I fucking called it. I knew that a movie involving time-travel would connect all the movies together, even the shittier ones. I'm just wondering what time-travel rules they'll go by. My money is on "Back to the Future rules."

Mcoffey:
Dammit... I was totally fine with them pulling a Highlander 2 on Wolverine and Last Stand and just pretending they never happened. Now we have to live with them...

A Highlander 2 isn't strong enough for this one.

X-Men movie thread? Time for me to foam at the mouth obsess over Michael Fassbender again. Oh, wait, I actually have an opinion on this besides "I want young Magneto's dick" for once. Oh dear.

Though I didn't loathe Wolverine Origins, I did hate X3. I was kind of hoping we could forget about both of those, really. First Class was just such a breath of fresh air, only trumped by the Avengers in quality of superhero movies. I'm hoping they can tie it up in a nice pretty bow, otherwise the plots may get a little too confusing. I have the comics to confuse me enough, I go to the movie timelines for a clear, neat timeline without all the crazy AU stuff.

Also a little disappointed in Ellen Page coming back as Shadowcat. I like Ellen Page, but she just didn't quite seem the part to me. Maybe with a better story she'll impress me more. Also, Colossus. Kinda really like Daniel Cudmore, especially after Forward Unto Dawn. I'm really interested to see who they bring back in the end.

Though, as long as I have my Fassy, I'm happy. I've watched some pretty shit movies to see that man act. Jonah Hex, anyone?

No. You know what? No. That is not on. That is just straight up not on. You apologise to X-Men Wolverine right now - you can say its a bad movie, but calling it worse than Highlander 2 is just not on.

Thats the movie equivalent of calling someone who took your gurlfriend Hitler. You just do. Not. Do. That.

"Film director plans on including the continuity..."

Fuck yeah, a director who cares!

".....of films that were complete shit"

GOD DAMMIT.

X3 was one of the first films that I actually wanted to walk out of, and X-Men Origins was a guide on how not to make a film about Wolverine.

This is a mixed blessing, probably one of the biggest ones in recent film news (the only other one I can think of was the "At The Mountains of Madness film!......directed by Guillermo del Toro).

Hm... This is potentially throwing to waste all the good the last film did by writing the X-men 3 and Wolverine Origins out of existence...

I look at it this way: say what you want about Highlander 2, but it had Sean Connery in it. Did XMOW? No? I rest my case.

XMOW had Hugh Jackman.

Sean Connery was in Zardoz and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Clearly, Connery is not awesome.

Yes he is, he was the only reason both of those movies were entertaining at all.

Jackman is good, but there's only a few F Grade movie he can bring up to a C-.

Zardoz was no higheer than a D, and League was F+ at best.

Exactly, it just goes to show what Connery can do! Without him those movies would have been an F and a G- respectively!

XMOW is sadly still at F, even with the Hugh Jackman factor.

The math doesn't lie.

I don't get it, what's so bad about origins? I thought it was a great action movie. Not so necessary to cut out of continuity in my opinion.

This whole mess of continuity, and changing and retconning things. . why couldn't they get it right the first time? because they were incompetent. So just forget about getting the unimportant things right, and focus on getting a great script and making a movie out of it that can stand on it's own critically.

I thought the movies were already connected. By mutants.

No. Even with every other thing wrong with XMOW, there is still a scene where Wolverine and Gambit fight. That makes it at least a C-.

Why the hell did he get banned?

Other than the continuity errors and scientific errors (even it's a comic book movie Newton's Laws deserve respect). It rushes the entire Origin storyline (the six issue series actually called "Origin") before the credits, and decides to flashforward to the modern-era, it doesn't try to do anything with Wolverine other than "he's Wolverine." In fact, instead of the "monster" he was so claimed to be, we find he's a pretty average person.

Yeah it is quite depressing, the lack of attention to continuity is just one piece of evidence that shows how they like to make these movies for a quick-buck for people who go on the name alone. We can only hope that's changed these days.

I still think "days of future past" is cool sounding but really stupidly worded.

No comment on continuity. Continuity is plague upon fandom that always seem to do more harm then good.

I'm yet to see a good Hugh Jackman movie. Also, he sucks as Wolverine. I'm sorry, I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I think he's awful in the role.
