KingdomFantasyXIII:
Snip

13 was second weakest selling "modern" console (anything after the SNES) core numbered FF game (beating out 9). FF13-2 was the second weakest selling numbered or spin-off FF game on modern consoles with a nearly 70% drop in sales from 13 to 13-2. What did 13-2 sell better than as far as console games? Dirge of Cerberus, and even then it was by less than 25%. 13-2 Sold less than X-2 which seems to be the most reviled game in the series even among people who dislike 13. Let that sink in.

You make the claim that all the people who dislike FF13 is whine and bitch without explaining their position. Bull. The people who dislike FF13 have written encyclopedias longer than the one IN FF13 on what they see as wrong with FF13 and 13-2. You choose to ignore the long, LONG, LOOOONG lists of academic quality analyses examining FF13 from top to bottom explaining how it fails as an FF game, as an RPG, and as a game in general. There has been no game in my history of gaming that has had so many people calmly, coherently, and intelligently look at it, point out and explain the failings of everything from basic story telling and design to the localization to the actual mechanical flaws. Even Mass Effect 3 has not been under the microscope to the extent FF13 has.

You know what I hear out of the pro-FF13 camp? People crying "hater", or "I had fun so its good", or saying we just didn't want the series to change, or that we don't "get it", or we didn't give it a chance despite putting 30+hrs in to it cause its not until hour 50 that it gets good, or the most preposterous defense of them all "It isn't supposed to be an RPG." WHAT!? Mr. Fantastic couldn't reach that far.

I had started to soften on the series after 13-2, which I kinda liked though I'd hardly call it good, but Thank you KingdomFantasyXIII for reigniting that seething hatred I have for the 13 series and its fandom by reminding me of how smug and self-centered FF13 fans are for not only living in utter denial of the fact that people have logical, well founded reasons for disliking the game, the fact the series is selling poorly by FF standards, but also trying to take some seat of moral superiority through their delusional view that only their opinion is valid.

FFP2:

Lunar Templar:

this from FF13 fan encounter #2, this keeps up I might have to use on whole hand to count you folks on.

Say whatever makes you happy but sales don't lie.

And the official FF Facebook page had a poll to see who their favourite heroine was and guess who won... Try using a whole hand to count that.

Mean the vastly plummeting sales and the fact that two FF13 games with multi-platform releases combined could only barely outsell 8 and 10, couldn't outsell 7, and still sold less than 10 and 10-2 combined? Crisis Core, a PSP game, out-sold 13-2. But hey, 13 beat out 12 and 9, those are accomplishments, kinda.

I'm not sure what people point at that poll are trying to prove. Okay, Lightning's the best Heroine according to the people who actually follow Square Enix on Facebook? So people who probably weren't old enough to play an FF game before 10 when it was still new see her as the most developed. Grats Lightning, you're the queen of the tweens. Also, considering she's the only heroine since FF6, a game that came out 20 years ago, who was actually the protagonist of the game rather than just a damsel in distress or generally unimportant, that's not really a hard-fought victory. You put Laila Ali in a boxing match with a bunch of Kardashians and former 90s stars to see who was toughest and she won... grats?

And all of this was a bunch of made up BS just to "Try" (Stay with me here because the keyword is TRY) to

1. FF13 is the 4th highest selling FF. it is also the fastest. XIII-2 sold half as much, just as X-2 sold half as much as X. There is no 70% decrease of anything or this BS you are speaking of. I've seen the charts, I know patterns in selling when I see it.
2.Where are these so called "encyclopedias" that you talk about? You provide no evidence as to people doing this. Also that ME3 being better than FF13 is BS and you know it.
3. That is because it is just people being haters. Metacritic has an 8.0 user wise. Amazon has mostly positive reviews on the game. The critics and the users have mostly positive reviews and there is just you minorities that are being extremely loud so that way you can act like you are right.
4. Your freaking welcome. I hope you hate as much as you can because you can't break us. you are a MINORITY compared to everybody who liked the game. There are games that have given FAR worse hatred (ME3, RE6, DmC: Devil May Cry, etc) that have cause MUCH worse statements. you are just an angry fanboy who just won't stop whining about how your precious FF games aren't the same anymore. So stop antagonizing people and just try to talk in a respectful manner, okay.

I'm not someone who dislikes FF13, on the contrary I liked it far more than I thought I was going to, but I cannot understand SE's will to keep pushing the series on us. Maybe it is simply because Lightning sells well in Japan, can't really buy into it myself because I thought she was a fairly dull protagonist, but even if she does, does she really sell more units than a remake of 6 or 7 would? Or a new Kingdom Hearts?

The whole thing strikes me as very bizarre. Maybe it's as simple as SE struggling with the scale of XV and needing to pump out spin-offs that they don't need to think too much about in the meantime to keep the balance sheet ticking over. I've read some horrible rumours about XV, the series is really starting to struggle at this point IMO, SE seem so obsessed with graphics and scale that they're losing sight of what the series was all about, great stories, locations and characters. Even though I finished XIII very recently, I would honestly struggle to name all the characters, even more so re: FF12 which had great combat but was staggeringly dull story-wise.
