If you didn't make it to Expo 2012, you'll have another chance to join the fun this October.
Perhaps you were one of the nearly 6,000 people in attendance at Escapist Expo last year, or perhaps you couldn't get out of work to make it to the show. Maybe you just heard about it too late to attend. Whatever your situation was last year, we've got great news. This October 4, 5, and 6, right here in Durham, NC, we'll be hosting our second annual Escapist Expo at the Durham Convention Center, Carolina Theater, and Durham Armory. In case you hadn't heard, Expo 2012 was a lot of fun!
At Expo 2012 we had Humans vs. Zombies in attendance, culminating in an epic last stand on Sunday. We held a charity Magic tournament benefitting Gamers Helping Gamers. We had tabletop RPG rooms dedicated to, well, role playing. You could watch anime on the big screen at the Carolina Theater. There was a two-day League of Legends tournament, there were three days of console tournaments, and we even brought in some of your favorite Escapist talent for you to rub elbows with. What I'm getting at is that we had a lot of stuff on tap for you to enjoy. We've got twice as much space as last year, so Expo 2013 will be even bigger and better.
Be sure to keep an eye out for upcoming announcements about the various events, activities, and personalities that we'll have at Expo 2013. For those of you who like to steep yourself in research before your travels, you can find all of the latest information on the official Expo site. If you're already planning to attend, early registration is available here. If you purchase your passes before 3/31, just enter the coupon code "EarlyEscapist2013" for $5 off. Additionally, Expo 2013's volunteer group, "The Hard Corps," is already recruiting, so if working the show is more up your alley, be sure to check out our Volunteer Registration page.
Check back early and often for updates on what to expect at Expo 2013, and we'll see you there!
Oh, thanks guys for once again reminding me of my loneliness and just the general lack of representation of the stuff I'm interested in my vicinity. While that part is true, I still hope that everyone that goes will have a good time, because if I wouldn't, I'd be a bitter and lonely bastard, and I'm not that, right?
I want to go, I shall have to see if i'm free during those days. Though it's location is in Durham, Carolina. I'd need plane tickets to fly there.
... Ah ... seriously wish to go. If this was like, in California LA I would just need to drive an hour to reach it. Then I would have the best time ever, but alas this is held there instead (not mad, just sad overall).
Least it's not till October, and funny enough it's being held during my own birthday (on the 5th). Must attend!!
Fucking yes! I am definately going to be there this year. Last year was my first time in America and my first ever convension was the Escapist Expo. I'm definately doing this again.

Would we be flying from London again, the great trio from the UK? =P (And now all 3 of us are Mods!)
I'm desperately trying to get a job to afford this, though I have been tipped by a Godlike being that he might be willing to front my flight again. (Might, I would rather pay for it myself and avoid all the guilt xD)

Nononononono! You must come! Don't disappoint me and Eleu

We totally have to do the great UK trio. And yes, we are now the great trio of Mods too!

Disregard guilt, aquire flight tickets!
I wonder if we can get ahold of Stevey, I do have him on Steam/Skype. Would be fun to be in the same hotel again. (Would we Red Roof Inn it?)
Well depending on where it's held this year I was thinking we could maybe stay a bit closer (i.e. walking distance) so we can hang out at the bars after the days are over. Cost dependant of course.
We will have to get a Skype convo up and running to discuss details.

Cool, just tweet me whenever and I'll get on Skype as soon as I see it. =P
There's the hotel right next to it, but that costs a bomb. We may need to do more research.

The Expo site itself has some ideas. We should investigate.
I recommend the Durham Tower Hotel, that's where I stayed on my way back, and it's walking distance-y (15-20 minutes walk) from the convention centre. It's only slightly more expensive then the RRI (about $10 a night p.p.)
For the time being I'm 80% confirmed (unless I get fired, which I'm sad to say isn't impossible). I will get a car again, am willing to share a room but will probably fly direct from Amsterdam to avoid 10 flights in a week again...)
And Stevey was on here a few weeks back, he posted something in the PubClub

...You may wanna check twitter. We're talking sharing a 4 bed in the Marriot. xD
And that's fine... Abandon the London trio. ='[ (nah I understand)

I deleted my Twitter account a few weeks ago, never used it anyway. If the Marriot is affordable that even better... but I'm still incredibly cheap Dutch... same thing really...
Not 100% on teh flight yet... preliminary searches say it might be cheaper to fly via London...

Est is around £86 for 4 nights if we do a 4-bed.
...*remembers there are others in this thread*.
Let's take this to PMs from now, okay? xD
That's pretty good actually, and yes let us abandon this thread (the Expo user group might actually be the best place, that's still a thing right?)
I will be trying to attend again. But given it's a good 7-8 months away, it's hard to tell what'll be going on by then. Plus, I need to decide if I'm going to be going as just an attendant again this year, or if I'll try to be part of the Hard Corps. I know last year I thought I would this year, but... I'm just not sure. Need to search myself and decide.
I can't help but think about the "Cereal Convention" from The Sandman. Where they all gather under name tags and have panel discussions. Is Corinthian coming? Will there be a disco?
Still sounds like fun though, I wasn't able to go last year, maybe this year I can.
my car got totaled last year (not my fault...someone put another car in my way lol) so I was only able to hobble over for one day. hopefully this year I can make it for the whole weekend :D
