"I Really Want To Play Iron Man," Says Jackie Chan

Fappy:
I'd sooner see him as Iron Man than Nic Cage as Superman. A lot of actors have aspirations that will never come true.

I now need to see Iron Chan and Supercage team up and fight crime.

I NEED TO SEE IT!

NEED!

Double post, srry.

No. Go away. Iron Man already has an actor, and Iron Man is not meant for Kung Fu.

I will now only have Jackie Chan to replace Robert Downey Jr if he doesn't want to do it anymore or even if he does, sorry but you've been replaced by Jackie Chan.

Hell, it sounded silly when I found out that Heath Ledger was going to do the Joker and he was amaze-balls.

No. Jackie Chan can barely portray himself. I don't want him trying to act.

Jackie Chan would make a perfect Bengal and would fit nicely into Ant-man or the next Avengers movie

Not as Iron Man, but certainly as someone else. I can't think of very many old, asian super heroes though.

Hero in a half shell:
Jackie Chan as Iron Man? No.

Jackie Chan as the Black Widow? Now you're talking

HAH!

Jackie can't pull off the smug American coporate bastard act the role requires

Iron Man?

No, not his style.

Iron Chef?

Hell yeah, any cooking show would be greatly improved with a kung fu dude beating the crap out of contestants using pans and other kitchen utensils as improvised weapons.

Jackie, I love you, man, but Iron Man is not a role for you. I could see him be the Hulk, or Peter Parker's (Spiderman's) Father or Uncle. Just not Iron Man.

Callate:
You know... I absolutely couldn't see Jackie Chan as Iron Man as portrayed by Robert Downey Jr.. His English isn't strong enough, and god love the man, his dramatic range isn't quite up to it.

But a Hong Kong-style Iron Man re-imagining with a lighter tone and a Chinese cast...? Oddly enough, I could imagine that working. I'm not saying it would ever happen in this world with character rights being what they are, but I could imagine a movie like that that would be well worth seeing.

Exactly. A unique, Chinese Iron Man. Call it something like The Magnificent Robot Master. Actually, make him kung-fu Megaman.

LavaLampBamboo:
Iron Man, no, but Iron Fist maybe? Or Shen Kuei? I dunno, Either way, yes he'd be great in a Marvel film

Iron Fist was instantly what I thought. it fits Jackie's niche perfectly (And brings Marvel one step closer to all the hollywood superstars in their movies)

Of course, the obvious, most important question is, "Would you want to see Jackie Chan as Iron Man?"

Jackie as Iron Man? no. Jackie in a Marvel movie? Hell. Fucking. YES!!!

Maybe he could play Iron Fist

I can't really see him being Iron Man.

Tony Stark (and by extension Iron Man) is a arrogant condescending arsehole with a heart of gold.

Not exactly character traits that people associate with Jackie Chan.

Jackie Chan IS a motherfudging super hero!

Omg I was trying to think of someone but that's perfect have a cookie sir. <3

I want this to happen now!

Could work, and he was honest about why'd he want to be Iron Man. Though, it would take some time getting used to but yea i'd surely enjoy seeing him kick butt in a superhero movie of Marvel.

I couldn't see him as Iron Man but by all means, sign the man up! Get him into tights! Use his talent. :D

amaranth_dru:
Not Iron Man... Iron FIST!!! That would be awesome... Team up with Power Man aka Luke Cage. That would be awesome... now who would be Luke Cage?

How about Micheal Clark Dun-

Oh....

Well, there's still Terry Crews, but he's not much for drama.

At this point, I will go to watch Jackie Chan in literally anything that isn't The Forbidden Kingdom.

I don't know if he'd be any good as Ironman, but I know that I'd happily pay to see him try. If not epic and dramatic, it'd sure be interesting, and I think that's more than enough.

*noms cookie* Thank you, ma'am :) They'd have to change the character a bit - Danny Rand doesn't really look or sound Asian but it's worth it. Because Mr. Chan is fucking awesome

Jackie, I love you, but you will never be able to beat Robert Downey Jr or even come close to it. Also I heard Tony Stark was white.

Though him wearing some sort of power armor and doing fighting in it would be awesome.

I heard The Mandarin was Chinese, Nick Fury was white and Heimdall was a Norse god. Yet going by the movies, the Mandarin is America, Nick Fury is black, and Heimdall is too.

If they can change character ethnicities there, is there really any reason they couldn't do the same for Tony Stark? It's OK to make a Chinese character American, but not the other way around?

Mandrin is British, go watch the movie again, Nick Fury was black just like he has always been in the Ultimates comics, and Heimdall was still a norse god.

OT: Jacky Chan as Ironman? Fuuuck no. He doesnt have the range for it, and Robert Downy Jr really blew it away with his Iron Man, there would be no way to replace that.

Other comic characters? Hell yeah! And if you dont mind race changes he would make an awesome Daredevil or Blackpanther

While I respect Jackie Chan as an athletic god, kung-fu master and stunt daredevil I do not really rate him as a very good "actor" outside of his Chinese works.

If he wants to be a superhero he needs to aim for something that relies more on his kind of characteristics. RDJ is perfect for Iron Man, nobody could top him. I mean, a live action Kung Fu Panda would suit Jackie Chan very well, he's that type of actor. I honestly can't think of any hero that Jackie Chan would suit (haha, suit, get it? Supersuit).

Wait, didn't he already have his own superhero thing? Jackie Chan Adventures? That was AWESOME too. Just do that, live action movie Jackie Chan Adventures.

So, after that mental workout I have decided something - Jackie Chan doesn't need to apply for the role of some superhero, he already is one.

I don't think he suits Iron Fist though... Iron Fist has always been a rather contemplative and reserved individual whereas Jackie Chan is too full of life. I would compare him to Steve Irwin as a point of reference.

Okay, Iron Man? Nah, but Batman? Hell yer!

j-e-f-f-e-r-s:
Why not? They made Nick Fury black. They made the Mandarin American. They made Heimdall black. They made the Kingpin black in Daredevil. None of those were particularly necessary, but they worked anyway/ Would it be so different to make Iron Man Chinese? Are we going to say all racial swaps in Marvel are fine, as long as you're not a brown-haired, white male lead?

Actually they made the Mandarin British....

But to be honest, no, I don't think Jackie could do Iron man effectively... But someone had the idea of making him Deadpool.... After Ryan Reynolds horrid turn as Green Lantern, I would be happy if he never did another film again. So yeah, give Chan the Deadpool role. OR, Make Jackie Chan Dr. Strange... That would be interesting, Martial Artist, turned Mage.

well, I don't think it's a matter people not wanting to see Jackie Chan as that kind of hero, I think it may just be a matter of his fighting style not matching that kind of character.

After all, Iron Man (for instance) wouldn't look good if he moved the way Jackie Chan does, IE: lighting fast but stilted and choppy precision as opposed to, say Jet Li's more fluent and continuous fighting style.

Iron Man? No way.

Iron Fist...fuck yeah, make it happen.

Well he could always be Iron Man In some Hong Kong Knock-off Avengers film if he really wanted it.

I would love to see him as Iron Fist, or Ezekiel from Spider-Man would be interesting...

I could see him playing Daredevil, actually.

I dont think Jackies repertoire would fit the Iron Man persona.

It has been a few years since Jackie's movies were a big thing here, hasnt it? The man might just want to get back into the Western mainstream market and what better way to do just that, than Marvel or DC action movies?

well, he could just do what china has been doing all along.

just fake remake it. like human hair fake soy sauce

seriously, he could be an iron man villian and not iron man. robert downey junior has tainted the role for every actor yet to be born.

But jackie, you're already a superhero. Just cast you as yourself. Seriously, screw the suit, your fists are made of steel!
