300 Heroes Rips Off League of Legends, Naruto, Shrek and More

The Chinese bootleg proves once more that there is no Mandarin word for "copyright."

Ladies and gentlemen, we have found the mother of all Chinese bootlegs. Introducing 300 Heroes, the game that rips-off every franchise or intellectual property it can get its hands on. The game is a League of Legends clone in the sense that it is literally League of Legends with a bunch of other copyrighted character's skins slapped over the top of existing LoL champions. The copyrights infringed include (but are not limited to): Naruto, Shrek, Disney, One Piece, Angry Birds and Plants vs. Zombies.

This game is currently available in China only, and failing the simultaneous death of every single lawyer in North America, will never see release anywhere else in the world. The game features Shrek (although he is totally not Shrek, as the game says he is "Green Ogre") wearing a black Zorro mask and using poor Donkey as a projectile attack, the entire cast of both Naruto and One Piece, and a Monkey King-type character that throws Angry Birds. Wall-E even shows up to add to the randomness.

All of the characters are simply LoL champions with new skins and custom animations - some of which are actually pretty cool considering everything else. Crusader Cast admits that the models do look nice, and "fit in well with all the stolen League textures."

Lastly, for whatever reason, Plants vs. Zombies art is used as the backdrop for the game's lobby. This, to me, is the strangest of all the game's infringements. It's almost as if the developer was specifically trying to infringe on as many copyrights as humanly possible in a single game, and stealing the PvZ art for the lobby was a quick way to rack up its total.

Good lord. Gotta love these insane things from china.

Funny enough, the Mandarin symbol for "foreign" is the same symbol for "opportunity."

China just enjoys sticking it's tongue out at the rest of the world... probably singing a Mandarin translation of M.C. Hammer's "Can't Touch This" too.

Honestly, I kinda think this is pretty adorable... something that really only a fan of the franchises would really do.

I love how they claim to hate the Japanese, but then turn around and watch the shonen shit that comes out of it >.>

Aww hell yeah, I'm so gonna play Wall-E when this gets imported! GOTY candidate right here.

Seriously guys? Seriously? It just boggles the mind, especially considering the LoL is a free game anyway. Wait... is LoL avaliable in China? Because that would explain a lot...

Fed Naruto gg, who picks Sasuke mid vs Naruto anyway? Counterpick yourself harder, you fucking noobs.

This is actually hilarious. Fucking China. Hey does Pantheon have Gerard Butler's face photoshopped onto him? I would totally main that so hard.

So it's like a Zynga game but they aren't as skilled at subversive ripping off, perhaps these two entities can meet for the ultimate in trash entertainment.

Hey, Chinese shmucks! If you really ARE going to rip-off famous chars, then at least give them a unique set moves, that represents their powers in their anime, game, etc. Reskining existing LoL characters is just damn lazy.

Can we just take a moment to talk about how fucking scummy this guys thumbnails are?
I don't see any pink haired bikini clad anime girl anywhere in that video, and browsing his other stuff there's a lot of ass and tit shots.

I mean come on. Cheap way to get views and it annoys me.

I know I should be mad at the copy write infringement but honestly I just can't stop laughing. Hell many of the work for jack all making our electronics I say let them beat shreck to death with luffy.

Yes, it is. It is actually hugely popular over there.

My sides. Watch Tencent buy that company and merge it with Riot.

Sounds to me more like the developer was just lazily trying to create a game that cashes-in on as many things as they think are popular. But, it also comes across as the strongest example of the Birdman Fallacy (google "Sean Malstrom" and Birdman Fallacy for context) I have ever hear, where the developer simply blindly copies popular IPs without any understanding at all what makes those IPs popular. In fact, this kind of laziness is so extreme that it almost borders on genius, truly minimalist effort to slap together popular tropes in a desperate bid for gamer dollars. The sad thing is, I bet this will be popular among a certain crowd, completely justifying the, however minimal, effort of the developer.

Or I could just be talking out of my ass, here, which is quite likely.

That would require effort. When you're already using copyrighted characters, you're not travelling down the 'put some effort into this' path.

Hahaha, oh shit. I only noticed that poorly photo-shopped picture in the thumbnail when you pointed it out. Not only is that scummy, but it also kinda shows for poor quality. Are your videos so bad you have to lie about whats in them just to get those extra clicks?

So does giving them unique animations...

I'm not entirely sure they made most those animations either. They remind me of what I use to see back with the Warcraft III custom matches of One-Piece and Naruto themed DOTA remakes.

It actually reminds me of all those custom maps from Warcraft 3. Good times

At this point im sure theyre just doing it to see how many lawsuits they can provoke at once.

It's like DeviantART in Moba form.

These people are just asking for lawsuits. I mean wow. No attempt to disguise the anime characters, blatantly ripping off LoL..

Sheesh.

Umm... I'd like to disagree, a bit. You see, I had an idea about making a mod for DOTA2, which would of many characters from Street Fighter, One Piece, JJBA, etc., with their actual skills. And I would have made it free (But I lack knowledge and time to do it, so it's just an idea).

And that is exactly why I am frustrated with activity of these Chinese guys. They've bastardized my idea!

Maybe there's one in Cantonese?

Anywho I don't play LoL/DOTA style games. But I would play this one just because it is a definite attention grabber.

...is it bad that I wanna play this for the sheer novelty? I can't wait to see future "hero" releases...
Optimus Prime...Applejack...
Hell, if they throw in Bob Ross, I'm sold!

Is there a list of the entire "300" (assuming there even is that many) heroes anywhere? I want to see just how deep this copyright infringement pit goes.

I'm surprised nobody has made a comment about identifying the characters that weren't examined. I saw Saber, Kirito, and Blackrock-shooter.

Haha, got shown a clip of this game awhile back by a friend, hilarity and ridiculousness.
Some of the stuff... Throwing all the Donkeys.

Micah Weil:

At that point I don't think any sane person could resist.

There is a word for copyright in Chinese, it's 版權 or Bǎnquán. Just nobody gives a fuck, kinda like some mobile devs.

Also before anyone corrects me or is confused, Chinese as a written language is the same in order to allow people speaking different dialects to communicate. Mandarin is simply a spoken dialect, as is Cantonese. I would know, my family is from China and we speak Mandarin.

How would one go about getting this game if they wanted to play for the novelty? I would like to see/try the roster.

I wish there really WAS a universe-crossing MOBA or open-world game. Just think of how many "who would win...?" fights could be settled in it!

Rainbow Dash vs. Joffrey
Charles Foster Offdenson vs. Master Chief
Superman vs. James Heller
Invader Zim vs. Hanna Montana

the possibilities are endless!

Hmmm, well there are bigger deals with Chinese infringement, but I've been talking about this for years. Chinese infringements and bootlegs cost the western world trillions of dollars in revenues each year, and according to some estimates might account for as much as 80% of China's current economy one way or another. With the US drowning in debt and good portions of the rest of the western world also having economic troubles, I've been of the opinion for a while that stopping this should be a top priority, even if that means starting a global war.

To be honest things like this, or China's giant "infringement theme park" where they had the counterfeit Gundams and such don't mean much in the overall scheme of things. Albeit all these little infringements add up. The big problem is when you look at drugs like Viagra which China knocks off in huge quantities and undercuts the original creators, stopping their sales and costing the USA and France in particular tons of money. When you consider that Uncle Sam should basically be getting a dime for every boner pill sold globally, something which is arguably in almost every nightstand nowadays, that alone represents a big deal, and it's not the only product of this type. Something is deeply wrong when the US is having major economic problems, and China is launching Aircraft carriers based on revenues gained from stolen foreign ideas and technologies. This is also what a lot of people talk about when they refer to a "robber economy", which also involves how a lot of the money owed by the US is to China, where they have been basically loaning money they stole back to the US in order to try and pay the bills the US cannot cover due to all of the money it's losing to country's like China. Simply put the US is stupid and would rather do this than go to war for it's own interests.

Not something I'm going to argue about right now (everything that can be said on these forums has been said), the point pretty much being that this kind of thing shouldn't shock anyone. I mean if China can pretty much play kickball with companies like Pfizers and Merck (as much as you might hate them they are huge and powerful) and the goverments of the world aren't willing to do much in response to those huge losses of revenue, what hope do people with copyrights to fantasy characters (anime, cartoons, etc...) have?

That said I think this game is more representative of the Chinese mindset, rather than an attempt to intentionally violate as many copyrights as possible for lulz. There is such disrespect for the ownership of foreign property that I doubt anyone stopped to consider it. Like a lot of things that China comes up with it seems like they largely took a shotgun approach to what people like, they know MOBAs are popular, and people like playing their favorite characters, so they pretty much took everything they could think of a way to make work, crammed it all together, and pretty much created the kind of glorious chaos that typically only exists in the mind of a young child. This in of itself isn't a unique idea, Japan has been taking a lot of diverse universes and doing "crossover" games for a long time, it's just most of them don't make it to the US, this is pretty much the same thing, but taken to an extreme, and without each of the creators being approached, asked, and paid for the rights to their property. Allegedly (which I say because I don't entirely buy it) a lot of these crossover games don't make it to the US for licensing reasons and it being too expensive to sub-license for a US release (but to explain what I think about this would be another huge post in of itself).

In chineese: You got shitty copyright laws? we got no copyright laws!

Seriously: All it did was made the things it ripped off more popular.

mew4ever23:

Sheesh.

You forgot one thing: not all world bends to USA laws.

Quiet Stranger:

Yep. Make a mod with copyright material and it gets banned="omg evil companies"
Make a mod and rut in under a different name=lawsuits are coming in.
Do you remember when we could play digimons in Starcraft? i do. and there was nothing wrong about that. not in todays world though.

Therumancer:
...I've been talking about this for years. ...that means starting a global war.

Oh, Therumancer, always looking for an excuse to start the next apocalypse.

Pyrian:
Oh, Therumancer, always looking for an excuse to start the next apocalypse.

I've always wondered how many people read those huge essays about starting WW3 that he always posts in any thread to do with China.

Alright... so what's the reskin of Karthus? I would very much like to know. You know what? Just give me the character files for this nonsense and I'll mod my own game. Well, if graphical modding of LoL is okay. I don't actually know because until right this moment, I've never had cause to check it out.

Edit: WE CAN PLAY IT! The youtube video links to instructions on how to download the whole thing!
