Capcom Moves Monster Hunter Series to Wii

image

Capcom has moved its upcoming Monster Hunter 3 release to the Nintendo Wii as a result of high PlayStation 3 development costs.

Originally announced in 2005 for the PlayStation 3, the company announced at this year's Tokyo Game Show that the action-adventure title will now be a Wii exclusive. Previous releases in the series had been PlayStation 2 titles, but according to Katsuhiko Ichii at Capcom, the expense of developing for the PlayStation 3 forced the platform change. "Due to high development cost of titles for PS3, we have decided to switch the platform to which we release our Monster Hunter 3 title," he said.

No information on the status of a PlayStation 3 version of the game has been released, and it is unknown if the company will pursue development of the game for other systems. While the Monster Hunter games have met with limited success in North America, it has been a major success for Capcom in Japan, where the franchise has generated over 4.5 million unit sales.

I was always interested in the series, but since I didn't have a PS2 never got to play it. Now I can give it a chance. Awesome.

ARGH!
I've had Monster Hunter for over 2 years now, racking up over 1000 hours and it is still one of my most popular games to play, even with my ps3.
Since around 2005 ive been waiting for details of Monster Hunter 2 (which was to be axed for the EU) and more recently for Monster Hunter 3 (which is not coming to ps3 now -_-).
This has really agrevated me in that it was that the original was highly played, but now they change console and leave the former players cursing capcom. And theres too much blood for the Wii, y'knoe, considering only 3 year olds or mentally retarded fags.

Manhunt 2 is on the Wii.

Not the most brilliant of games, but...yeah.

I'd be careful about who you call mentally retarded fags, as you're the one who paid $500-$600 for a Blu-Ray player whose best games are available on PC and Xbox 360 with better textures and performance, given the Cell's horribly complicated architecture and bottlenecks up the whazoo.
