Saw Videogame Unveiled

Saw Videogame Unveiled

For better or worse, the notorious Saw franchise has crossed the threshold into gaming, with a videogame tie-in for the franchise expected late next year.

Brash Entertainment announced the upcoming game earlier today, saying it is working closely with Lions Gate and Twisted Pictures, as well as franchise creators Leigh Whannel and James Wan, "ensuring the game pulls no punches and delivers the horrifying suspense and disbelief that has floored fans worldwide." The game "will have its own unique storyline, while answering questions left unanswered by the Saw films," according to a GamePolitics report.

The Saw videogame is being developed for next-gen platforms and will be powered by the Unreal Engine 3, and is expected to ship in October 2009 to coincide with the release of the fifth installment in the Saw franchise, as well as to give the ESRB time to brace itself. I cannot wait to see the press surrounding this game.

I understand and appreciate the creativity of the first saw, however after that point it felt like I was just watching a story with a soft-core suspense novel's storyline covered in a nice little gift-wrapping of smutty gore. Needless to say, I am in NO way looking forward to this debauchery of a video game. Please, someone, anyone with some sort of jurisdiction over these types of things that may read this thing, STOP THIS GAME FROM BEING MADE! I don't care how much money they're throwing at you, it will only scar the image of the developer; not that Lions Gate needs anything more to smudge their name.

This will not end well...

ESRB will have a field day.
I'm at least in the slightest glad that it's not a game with gore for the sake of gore and will actually have a proper and new story line.

If there's a franchise no good game can come of, it's Saw.

The story line revolving around gore, of course

Aye mate... I fear another lame game taken from a movie... but still maybe THIS time they will not screw it up

there must be someone out there trying to defeat ESRB. the first attack was Manhunt 2, now they're making Saw video game... play them both and learn how to kill and dispose of a body "in a fun way"...

Yay!*

Prepare for a new low.

I guess I'm the only one who is curios how the actual game is going to be... Who knows, a platforming MMORPG?

My guess will be quick time events throughout the entire game.

You press X
"HAH! Stupid, it was B, you level up. You gain, Fire proof hat. But your inventory is full, would you like to drop an item?"
You click yes wodnering why you have to drop an item you don't have.
"You have no items you drop, you are dead.

Epic. For some reason, I imagined the song going to the beat of "Maxwell's Silver Hammer."

Why Jacko though that GTA was a murder simulator, we don't know. If he thinks this is a murder simulator, then maybe he has some sense.
