It has less to do with the spelling itself than the irony of being unable to spell the name of the political party he claims such familiarity with.

Anyway, I zinged, he counter-zinged (although not with nearly my level of panache, I must say), now let us move on.

Here's something I'd like to know: Is this something McCain & Co. actually believe, or are they just pandering to an audience that does believe it? Not that either is something you want in a President, but which is preferable: Outmoded ignorance or opportunistic dishonesty?

Okay, McCain, you asked for this...

Roll for initiative.

Nice one. If someone told him that directly and it hit the press, I would be ROFLing all day.

Opportunistic dishonesty in a heartbeat. Even if he is a lying snake, it's better to have a lying snake that knows how to get you out of trouble when you're in it than an outmoded ignorant that needs a bidet to wipe his ass for him.

unfortunately for him. a lot of people who are of voting age grew up in the era when D&D was popular and new. they played it, and many people still play it today. (not me, god no.) but being a gamer, i am also offended by this statement, and feel that unless there's another colossal F*ck-up like in 2000, he won't win this election.

I agree, my Dad for instance did used to play D&D daily with his friends in his moms basement.

A thought occurs... I wonder what Jon Stewart will do with this story on The Daily Show? I'm almost tempted to record it to find out.

PS: I still get a chuckle over the "exit poll" coverage they had for Indecision '04; "How's your alien plasma rifle now?"

Can't they come up with more creative insults? Mocking D&D players is like shooting rats in a box. (LoL Irony)

He's old, you can't really blame him. Have you ever had a parent tell you to stop playing gameboy and do your chores, when you were really playing playstation? He's still an ignorant ass (I don't take lightly to calling someone ignorant), but it's not entirely his fault, cenility is also to blame.

Wait! What would the D&D community have to do with this?

That's what I thought as well! Why did he drag in the innocent bystnader!?

These insults are strange. I don't think many DnD players would dispute Mc Cains War stories because they play DnD, if anything many of them would consider how they could use that in one of their own games.

I am a little bit dissapointed in some of these comments though. The guy fought in Vietnam, don't make fun of him for that.

Is it just my imagination as an American, or are nearly all the foreigners rooting for Obama? Personally, I don't want the U.S. to become socialistic in policy any more than it has already, and some campaign aide saying something as 'tarded as this isn't going to dissuade me from considering McCain. Oh and by the way, I play D&D regularly, not including computer games (which would make it frequently).

Listen, we've already been screwed over by one Republican, why do I want to vote for another, especially one who believes that being a POW is a free pass to the presidency? Even if he is elected, he's not going to do anything because the Dems are going to take the House and Senate. Obama FTW.

Hardly surprising coming from a man who wants the Ten Commandments taught in every school in America. I honestly believe Obama is the better choice right now.

And Anton, that was hilarious!

I don't think it's your imagination; I think that the current administration has so screwed up in the realm of foreign policy (and broken so many treaties doing so) that the rest of the world frankly doesn't trust anyone endorsed by your President. I mean, this is the guy who appointed someone whose avowed goal is the repudiation of the United Nations as the US Ambassdor to the United Nations. Heckuva job there, Bolt-ie.

Given how endebted McCain is becoming to the Neo-Con old guard, and given how Neo-Con unilateralism has led to increasing tensions, undermined trade agreements, and badly damaged the world credit market it should be no surprise that the international community is willing to trade McSame for the Mystery Package behind curtain #2.

This from a man who thinks he's a war hero.

He was shot down 5 times, that doesn't make him a war hero, just a really shit pilot.

Roflcopter. I'd pay you $10 to say that to his face.

Only a nerd would question the veracity of a war story? Is that what the gaffe was expressing? Heh. Go read The War Nerd from Exile. There's a nerd who knows his military history and still despises the Republicans. Or anyone who fights a war as badly as we are at the moment.

Well damn. I wasn't going to vote for Obama because I'm not big on the whole unreconstructed socialist thing, nor am I a fan of a campaign whose only valid reason anyone can state for supporting it is "because it's a message of hope! And change!" Hope and change for and to what, exactly? I'm not sure I want to find out.

I was going to vote for McCain, but the more I hear out of his camp the more attractive Bob Barr is looking as an option.

And before anyone says "you're wasting your vote", keep in mind that I'm already going to vote for my Congressman and for city council, so why not just check the box for the Libertarians while I'm there? All I'm wasting is about three seconds of my time. If I were solely going to vote for president I'd just stay home like I did in 2000 when I didn't like either of the options.
