Natasha Something-or-other Is A Boogie Superstar

image

Someone named Natasha Bedingfield has been announced as the featured spokesperson of Boogie SuperStar, lending whatever talent it is she apparently possesses to the upcoming Wii title from EA.

Bedingfield, who reportedly has a new album called Pocketful of Sunshine, is allegedly a Billboard chart-topper in both the U.S. and the U.K. The hot new music game will allow girls to perform Bedingfield tracks like "Angel" and "Love Like This," neither of which I've ever heard of, although they're presumably very popular with the kids these days.

"Boogie SuperStar brings to life all the fun and excitement of performing," said Bedingfield. "Being on stage is such a thrill and it's great to be a part of an EA videogame that lets girls experience how much fun it is to express themselves and explore their own creativity by performing."

"Boogie SuperStar represents a new level in the convergence of games and music," added Steve Schnur, EA's worldwide executive for music and marketing. "EA has combined the very best game interactive capabilities of the Wii technology and the Boogie brand to form an unprecedented soundtrack with the hottest new tracks made famous by the biggest artists in the world today. We've been actively involved in Natasha's career since its inception, and we're proud to have a star like her actively involved."

According to the press release, girls will have a blast belting their favorite tunes into the microphone, and girls can also sing and dance with or against their friends in fun competitions in a game that will have girls bursting with excitement. Boys will apparently spend most of their time with the game standing around talking about football.

Along with songs by Bedingfield, Boogie SuperStar will feature nearly 40 songs from musicians who I'm told are really hot stuff these days, including "Bullseye," "Like Whoa" and "Potential Breakup Song" by Aly & AJ, "Thnks Fr Th Mmrs" by Fall Out Boy, "Yahhh!" by Soulja Boy Tellem and "Stronger" by Kanye West. The international version of the game will also include "top local hits" from a variety of European countries. Boogie SuperStar is being developed as part of the EA Casual Entertainment label, and is scheduled for release in October 2008. To learn more, go to boogiesuperstar.ea.com.

EA has been actively involved in Natasha's career since its inception? That's just creepy.

I thought that remark was pretty funky too. Is EA breeding pop stars to feed their music game machine?

And why do people keep asking me if I really don't know who Natasha Bedingford is?

I especially like the "to learn more" bit at the end of the post.

They're just boldly going where Disney has been for before.

Wow, craptastic. Never even heard of her or the majority of those artists. I don't want to either, ever again.

Well, you've apparantly never spent time on my block. I'm subject to the never ending ballads of two young girls on my street who constantly rope most of us neighbors into the garage so we can hear the same Hanana Montana and Brittney Spears songs over and over and over again.

So I think the researchers are onto something. Hell, I could have told you this for free. But at least you just warned me never to tell their mother about this game.
