Well, how would you put it? If a parent I incapable of properly raising a child, then they shouldn't begin the act of coitus in the first place. Unless the child was an accident. This just reaffirms my faith in her and my hope that she'll come back to the games industry sooner. You're awesome at what you do! Come back to us! And yes, I agree with this sentiment in totality - poor parenting and upbringing in general (I still believe a bad school and peers can break someone otherwise raised fine) is a terrible thing. |

haha glad im not the only one to have thought that. I am purposely going to have to look at the Daily Mail now for whatever 'middle-England' sensationalist headline they choose to run with, probably something like "Gamers shouldn't have sex' or "Nintendo calls working mothers bad parents". |

The chain of horror, immorality and crime that has been my life to date had up until now mystified me... I never considered that my stupid, irresponsible parents didn't love me. If only the internet had existed then! They could've stood on the shoulders of the moral giants of the message boards, and I might have stood a chance of a decent life. |

Hats off to her for speaking the truth. EDIT: a couple of people have mentioned Idiocracy, there's also the South Park episode in the first season that has the parent's using the TV as a baby sitter and complaining about it. Good call. |

They're not arguing whether or not the parents shouldn't let kids play games not rated for them, they're arguing whether or not the parents shouldn't let kids play games not suitable for them, big difference. |

XD "They're not arguing whether or not the parents shouldn't let kids play games not rated for them, they're arguing whether or not the parents shouldn't let kids play games not suitable for them" I'd say the rating is there as a pointer as to that : P Her point seems rather to be that parents shouldn't let games be the sole source of ideas and role-models for children because they are rarely good ones. Irresponsible parents whom have let their children be raised by television and games just to relieve their own stress shouldn't have had children in the first place. |

The way you've got it all figured out, the next generation of kids'll all have some kind of education or something, and then who will buy all the games? The videogame industry NEEDS stupid people like me to be the majority. How could it be expected to sustain its growth unless it was so? Just think, if my parents had raised me properly there's no way I'd spend half my time playing games and the other half writing about them. |

I think the argument is that let your 10 year old play GTA all they want so long as you also raise them to be smart, well-adjusted, reasonable people that can tell right from wrong. Video games are fine unless they impede normal (or proper) child growth. |

Ex-Nintendo Exec: Stupid People Shouldn't Have Sex
Former Nintendo marketing executive Perrin Kaplan has called out irresponsible parenting and hinted at her return to the industry.
After leaving Nintendo and videogames at the end of 2007, former vice president Perrin Kaplan founded Zebra Partners, a marketing firm with interests in gaming that will launch when her non-compete agreement with Nintendo ends this December.
Speaking at the Penny Arcade Expo, Kaplan announced that she would return to industry as soon as possible.
"I have not left the gaming industry for good. I love it," she proclaimed.
While serving as a panelist at a table about sex and violence in gaming with What They Play's John Davison, Grand Theft Childhood co-author Cheryl Olson and Newsweek's N'Gai Croal, Kaplan commented about the lack of proper parenting over kids who game.
Kaplan stated, "Parents who use videogames as a babysitter shouldn't have sex to begin with."
