I actually recently saw a website simmilar to this, in which the reviewer bascially decried ievery game ever, but since he was on a strict Catholic Campus, wasn't actually allowed to play these games. I couldn't figure out if it was real or not before it was closed due to the unofficial raid the GT users ended up doing without meaning to (seriously. We just wanted to laugh at the stupidity). I saw the link to Anti Spore and while it's entirely possible that this is a spoof I know first hand how crazy these people can be so my itchy fingers got the better of me and resulted in the following (lengthy) post. I hate these psycho's so much i want to explode!!!!! "I very rarely make forum posts and I'm pretty sure that this post will be removed immediately but I really have to respond to this site in general (i'm not picking on this particular post). Having browsed through some of the hate-mongering against homosexuals/atheists (unrelated in reality btw) and generally anyone you don't like, I feel you've all completely missed the point of the game. That's right, I said GAME!!!!! It's a product intended to entertain and you lot have decided somehow that it's all about attacking your beliefs which is a bit self indulgent. The idea behind spore was to allow players to contribute to all something. To create something and know that another player has your handmade avatars populating their experience as they play. Just because a few idiots decide to depict a malformed freak having sex then hate the idiot, not themedium through which it's created. All I've seen here is the usual desire of people with overinflated opinions of themselves to not only stifle ideas and creativity, but to use this as a basis for attacks on other people's beleifs when you whine about your own being questioned to begin with. I get the impression from the general religious fervour present that there are a lot of americans who are posting here. Most of the regimes that american christian institutions claim to despise (nazi's/communists etc) were able to come into existance because enough people thought it was ok to police people's ideas and silence them forcefully through book burning, violence and such. I think its just supposed to be ironic humor. I've been indoctrinated with Baptist doctrine all my life, and most of my friends, believe in a religion that has the values of a strict creationism teach. (Duh) I don't really have a problem with it because, ITS A GAME. None of my friend have a real problem with it ,as far as I know. Even the hardcore bible thumpers, they all say the same, its a toy, its a game, and its just a entertainment object. A workmate of mine (who happened to be a devout bible-basher) was recommended Diablo when it came out. He bought it to give it a try, then the next day told us he'd thrown it in the bin because of the demonic/satanic/whatever content. After asking him "erm... why not sell it or something?", his reply was "I didn't want to corrupt anyone else" or something along those lines. | |

Anti-Spore: Serious Or Spoof?
Spore has been the target of various criticisms since its launch in early September, but none have been quite so heavy-handed as those found at Anti-Spore, a website that decries the game's evolutionary principles while calling Will Wright "evil."
Stuart Houghton at Kotaku seems unsure whether the site is intended as ironic humor, and to be quite honest so am I, but the more I read the harder it gets to believe that Anti-Spore, described as "Resisting EA's War on Creationism," isn't a deadly serious site from someone genuinely concerned about EA's "attack on Christian values."
"Yesterday I found out about a new game called Spore when my son asked me to buy it for him. It looked innocent enough and has "E for Everyone" ESRB rating. But don't be mislead, apparently "everyone" means everyone they want to teach evolution to," the site's creator wrote in his opening post. "The entire game is propaganda aimed directly at our children to teach them evolution instead of creationism, or 'intelligent design' if you go for stupid PC terms. The object of the game is to evolve from a 'spore' into demon-like intelligent space creatures that violently take over the galaxy."
The author also decries the existence of "human looking characters who do things reserved only for games with an M rating," and is also presumably less than thrilled with the ability of players to create such characters. He makes special note of the Creature Creator's plethora of penises, saying, "This is not funny, this is not cute."
Spore creator Will Wright unsurprisingly earns some special bashing. The author refers to Sim City as "a fantastic game," not least because gamers who became too powerful or proud of their cities would inevitably be smitten by a tornado, earthquake or other humility-inducing disaster. But Spore has apparently revealed Wright's true colors. "You would think that as a member of the Episcopal Church, a smart man like Will Wright would not be capable of creating Spore," the author wrote. "However, we must be reminded that the Episcopal Church is the only church in America that ordains homosexuals on a regular basis. It makes sense that a perverted church would cause a man to make the creations he has in this game. It just may be that evolution is not the only thing to fear this game teaching your children."
But as straight as it's played, I just can't quite buy that's 100 percent serious. The author slams the existence of pornbeasts and giant penis monsters, but includes images and videos of those same creatures in action. His response to user feedback also hints at irony buried so deep that it's virtually undetectable: When one reader points out that fake penises can be built out of Lego, the author replies, "Part of the brilliant design of Lego is that the shapes of the pieces prevent children from creating anything sinful." But not a wink or a nudge or even a smirking twitch reveals that this is anything but completely serious.
