And had I done something illegal the owner of the router would be blamed an not me. Now the networks I used were password-free. It doesn't take a genius to hack a password. |

Press Junketeer Posts: 371 Joined: 1 Nov 2007 | Seeing as how porn movies have some of the greatest names ever, I would LOVE to see a few of these cards. "You must pay for backdoor (insert name of animal, job position, U.S. President, food product, title, etc. here) or you will be fined 500 pounds"...I would probably create a website with a collection of these card photos. Mother: "Son, did you download 'Backdoor Plumbers 4: The long Plunge'? ...We need to talk. Right now the fine is the least of my worries" |

Copy Clerk Posts: 65 Joined: 22 Feb 2007 | Too many people stopped replying to their demands for compensation for video games and other software, willing to go to court (I haven't heard of a single victory case against a downloader who actually went to court, BTW). In combination with the economic situation, that meant reduced income, so they've come up with something that people would be ready to pay for just to keep under wraps from their friends and family, much less take to public court. It's hard to keep shouting against piracy when pirates are mostly people who either can't or won't buy the product anyway, while the supposed "defenders" are using immoral, unethical and outright illegal practices to actually make money off of the crime, instead of trying to prevent it. To tell the truth, I think they understand even better than most companies that no one is ever going to stop piracy, but right now it's THE THREAT! and enough companies are in the "how much money before I can feel safe again" state so the lawyers are trying to cash in as much as possible while it lasts. Like USA and terrorism.
Already happened, according to torrentfreak:

Screwing you over, taking all your money, then suddenly having a unexpected "present" on your doorstep? Sounds like a typical girlfriend to me. >.> Anyway this is why I opt for the unlicensed semi legal shit. Besides company made porn is usually boring as shit. Well except for Bang Bros but that's just because of the wise ass cracking jokes at the chicks expense. |

I'd do my Necro Ranger schtick again, but this would make the third today... and that's a little too frequent. Instead I'll just go and say: yeah. It is. |

Lawfirm Seeking 12.5 Million Pounds for Downloaded Porn
Innocent people are receiving demands for payments for porn movies, despite being incapable of ordering them.
What would you do if you found a bill for over 500 pounds for downloading porn along with your newspaper? What about it if was with a 20 page legal document explaining that if you didn't pay for 'Army F***ers', you would be taken to court?
According to Slyck.com and torrentfreak, approximately 25,000 of these letters have gone out; a quick bit of math gives puts the damages being asked for in the neighborhood of £12.5 million. That's almost double Cloverfield.
The firm allegedly responsible for sending these bills, Davenport Lyons, is attempting to recuperate costs made from these films by charging people who download them; as is fair under copyright law. However, the people getting billed often are incapable of downloading them. They are often in possession of routers though, and a wireless router is very easy to hack into.
