Lawfirm Seeking 12.5 Million Pounds for Downloaded Porn

image

Innocent people are receiving demands for payments for porn movies, despite being incapable of ordering them.

What would you do if you found a bill for over 500 pounds for downloading porn along with your newspaper? What about it if was with a 20 page legal document explaining that if you didn't pay for 'Army F***ers', you would be taken to court?

According to Slyck.com and torrentfreak, approximately 25,000 of these letters have gone out; a quick bit of math gives puts the damages being asked for in the neighborhood of £12.5 million. That's almost double Cloverfield.

The firm allegedly responsible for sending these bills, Davenport Lyons, is attempting to recuperate costs made from these films by charging people who download them; as is fair under copyright law. However, the people getting billed often are incapable of downloading them. They are often in possession of routers though, and a wireless router is very easy to hack into.

That sounds...embarassing. I imagine most of those letters will be delivered to confused looking parents with teenage sons :-D

Wow... this is certainly embarassing I suppose. Just imagine if an 80-year old couple recieved one of these bills in the mail.

Isn't there enough free porn on the interwebs to not have to go stealing some poor fluffer's hard ear-

I'm sorry. I'll stop now.

*Goes red. Checks post. Sighs with relief*

Ouch, so much for 'discreet service' eh?

Should have went for an 'out call', am I right?

Doesn't look like they are getting the 'true girlfriend experience', are they?

Sorry, no more bad pun/escort puns.
That would be very confusing for someone who doesn't even touch the stuff...especially if they are married. Whoops!

"The first thing we do,
lets kill all the lawyers"

Henry IV, Act 4 Sc2

I think I'm on to something here...

This is a rediculous, people who use wireless routers (me) can't be blamed for this, I have on many occasions used wireless networks from public locations. And had I done something illegal the owner of the router would be blamed an not me. Now the networks I used were password-free. It doesn't take a genius to hack a password.

Oh no... They have moved on from video game piracy to porn piracy. We are all fucked!

Seeing as how porn movies have some of the greatest names ever, I would LOVE to see a few of these cards. "You must pay for backdoor (insert name of animal, job position, U.S. President, food product, title, etc. here) or you will be fined 500 pounds"...I would probably create a website with a collection of these card photos.

Mother: "Son, did you download 'Backdoor Plumbers 4: The long Plunge'? ...We need to talk. Right now the fine is the least of my worries"

Pun not intended.

This has probably started many embarassing conversations between couples, parents/children, etc.

Or was it?
I really want to know what one of these letters say though. Perhaps I should get downloading and find out.

Pfft. Like you aint been ever since you first got net access. XD

"Give us our porn money!!!"

That's gotta be interesting, specially when the husband comes home.

Too many people stopped replying to their demands for compensation for video games and other software, willing to go to court (I haven't heard of a single victory case against a downloader who actually went to court, BTW). In combination with the economic situation, that meant reduced income, so they've come up with something that people would be ready to pay for just to keep under wraps from their friends and family, much less take to public court. It's hard to keep shouting against piracy when pirates are mostly people who either can't or won't buy the product anyway, while the supposed "defenders" are using immoral, unethical and outright illegal practices to actually make money off of the crime, instead of trying to prevent it. To tell the truth, I think they understand even better than most companies that no one is ever going to stop piracy, but right now it's THE THREAT! and enough companies are in the "how much money before I can feel safe again" state so the lawyers are trying to cash in as much as possible while it lasts. Like USA and terrorism.

Already happened, according to torrentfreak:

On 29 November The Guardian reported that a couple in their sixties were horrified that they had been wrongfully accused of illegally sharing the gay porn movie Army Fuckers.

Which is why I quoted it in the review :)

Oh bugger! Checks mail, disposes of evidence.

All sorted now.

I download porn. this isnt good.

why download when there are so many free streaming sites?

red the fister:

For research purposes, could you point me to some high quality free streaming sites?

Screwing you over, taking all your money, then suddenly having a unexpected "present" on your doorstep? Sounds like a typical girlfriend to me. >.>

Anyway this is why I opt for the unlicensed semi legal shit. Besides company made porn is usually boring as shit. Well except for Bang Bros but that's just because of the wise ass cracking jokes at the chicks expense.

"OK, my life just got even weirder."
Well, that's how I'd feel, at least.

This is porn beyond the grave!!! Necrophiliac threading eh?

500 pounds for a porno movie!? Really! I mean come on. If they wanted you to pay for it why didn't they ask for the money online when you downloaded?

Is this only in the UK? I sure hope so. Even then, its a load of bull.

I'd do my Necro Ranger schtick again, but this would make the third today... and that's a little too frequent.

Instead I'll just go and say: yeah. It is.
