| Resident Evil 5 Console Exclusives Unveiled
Capcom has revealed that the 2009 release of Resident Evil 5 will feature console-specific exclusives, making life just a little bit tougher for people who own both systems.
The PlayStation 3 version of the game will feature a "making of" video which CVG says was shot by "Hollywood staff," presumably meant to imply that it will be of higher quality than a lot of behind-the-scenes videos that often look like they're put together with nothing more than a camcorder and whoever happens to be sitting closest to the door to the QA department. The initial Xbox 360 release, on the other hand, will be a special "Deluxe Edition" with a metal case and a soundtrack CD.
Sounds like the 360 version is the way to go, but there's a catch: The Deluxe Edition for the 360 is a limited run and once they're gone the 360 version will include only the game, whereas every PlayStation 3 release will include the soundtrack CD.
Of course, neither of those releases will be enough to satisfy the true Resident Evil fan, and thus Capcom is also releasing a special Limited Edition for both platforms featuring even sexier packaging, a two gigabyte USB flash drive, 32-page art book and a "waist pouch" similar to the one in the game. GameStop has the standard release of Resident Evil 5 listed at $59.99, while the "Collector's Edition" for both systems sits at $89.99. How the initial allotment of Xbox 360 Deluxe editions fits into the plan remains to be seen, and it's safe to say that things could change before the game actually lands on the shelf.
Resident Evil 5 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 is set for release in March 2009.
(And if you're wondering about the picture, the Resident Evil games are known as Biohazard in Japan.)

| I have seen the flash drive, she looks beautiful. It is modeled to look like a virus container.
Resi 5 is getting better and better. A must buy for myself. |
| A flash drive? what?
Well, they get points for most utterly random tie-in, I guess. |
| heh... another awesome game passes by the wii again. Ahh well, at least while you get your indestructable metal case of death, i get... animal crossing. LOL

Random maybe, actually useful, yes :) |
| I really liked RE4, and if RE5 is pretty much more of the same, hells yeah I'm getting it. Probably go for the 360 version, just gotta make sure I snag me one of the deluxe versions. |
| Eh. I was kinda hoping for some type of awesome controller like the chainsaw one for number 4. But then again, I guess it would be kind of hard shipping a sp....
Wait, no. That joke is horrible. But I still wouldn't mind something fun like the chainsaw. |
| My friend showed me this yesterday. Here's some more pics:

The games comes out on my birthday too! |
| i hate console exclusivness, altho the case looks cool, bring on the boring normal games! i hate collectors editions, just more money for useless stuff and then they 'run out' of the normal ones so you have to buy exclusives... |

Excuse me, I must weep a little bit. It's just so beautiful...
