So its video games fault that young hormonal (and by that i mean hitting puberty) men go out and kill stuff. Is that not what the stereotypical man is supposed to do hunt fish scratch sot on their ass and watch football?

It is not video games but parenting and gender labels that make kids do this. It is like a girl getting married to young and popping out a bunch of kids just because that's what her parents told her that was her job.

This. If the kids had had video games, they wouldn't have had to go out and kill animals for fun.

So why do all these people specify these effects to children? I don't see how children are different in any important way to adults mentally overall (of course, I don't see how wide generalizations of humans in general or any of the various subgroups thereof makes any sense).

My uncle has went deer hunting every year for the past 40 years, and to my knowledge he has never even played a video game. This just seems like more idiocy to me.
Just one other thing, what game is it that the deer are playing that makes the stupid things jump out in front of cars?

You may laugh but I have conclusive proof that George Bush played a game called Oil grab, Hitlers first action as a dictator was to get all of his scientists working on the worlds first games console and that the Crusades were in fact about sega vs Nintendo.

You really must visit the holy land and see the hundred foot tableaus of Blue hedgehogs.

You need to set up the NCA the national console association lobby congress and get a spokesman say jim Cavizelle as he would fit the bill judging by the fact that you need some one who has been in a biblical epic. "You can have my analog stick, when you pull it from my cold dead hands!"

I don't kill animals because of video games.

I kill them because it's 5 a.m., the air is almost literally frozen, and the only sound for miles in any direction is the grass crunching as they come closer. The adrenaline pounding through your brain as you try to hold in your breath and wait until the moment is just right. The cold smell of rifle grease as you rise out of cover, take aim, and know the sound that will be that creature's last.

I also eat the thing, so whoever shot the critter and left it lying out is an asshole.

I don't know why people cannot see cause and effect in these situations:

It is not that violent games cause people to become violent
It is that violent people are attracted to violent games or whatever is being blamed

If we're going to blame video games for violence, what about the (Judeo-Christian (sp))Bible. many people have stated that the Bible has inspired more violent acts such as murder than anything else in our society.

wait hold on a minute there! i was under the impression that americans went boom at wildlife before games existed... or didn't they do it with guns back then?

or does this mean that the NRA is filled with CS-source geeks?

can't wait to hear how they are going to pin cancer on video games, probably spin it like this: dr.Obscure Van Expert says that "kids playing mmo's are more prone to suffer from stress and therefore they are more likely to begin smoking to relieve tension, parents and the video game industry must realize that hunting fro gld and xp is doing much more harm than good!" there you have it folks, ergo games give babies cancer!

oh yeah and what about terrorists? what kind of fucked up video game did they play?

Blaming violent video games for animal slaughter?
C'mon ,give me a break here.
Honestly, if they're going to blame video games for something, make it like the increased amount of homicide or something, not Duck Hunt in real life.
People blaming the video games is just ridiculous. It's like that fat guy suing McDonald's for making him fat: It was his own choice.
The parents buy this crap, then instead of saying "We made a mistake," and take away the game, they just blame the entire industry and act like they're doing the right thing.
I think every parent out there that thinks that this crap is due to violent video games, I'd like them to read this:
IT'S YOUR OWN DAMN FAULT.

Yes of course we, people ranging from 15-22, all know how to fire guns right, drive vehicles, kill intergalactic spacebeings?

You press the left mouse button and whatever is standing in front of your cross-hair dies. you walk by pressing the W and we drive by pressing the action button and brake with the Spacebar.
And all aliens speak English.

I believe gaming and real life are as far removed from each other as possible. I blame television, lets ban the power rangers AGAIN and replace it by a Gay sitcom I am sure that won't influence young naive minds.

That guys an idiot. I did psych test on kids after playing violant games. They were fine. Some kids just believe in sport, and what better sport than the one that regulates our ecosystems. It's better than breaking your neck over a ball that 6 large sweaty men want too.

What do you expect? It's the American Spectator, a highly conservative journal. These blamings of games always seems to come from conservatives in the media.

I wonder what NRA members have to say about the subject. They don't seem to play video games very much. They did sponsor a game called NRA Gun Club, which got a 1.6 from Gamespot and a 1.5 from IGN.

Gee, I guess hunting isn't a popular sport anymore. I wonder if he noticed that most purposeful animal killing happens during the animals designated hunting season.

Well boys and girls, this is what happens when people have nothing better to do.

Here, watch the movie hosted right here: www.meat.org

Now, tell me if we should also blame video games.

This is a mistype. It's actually: 'Animal's Laughter Blamed on Violent Games'.

Granted, this makes no sense either, but...

Now, if these kids were killing and eating the animals, would he still be lambasting video games?

That's silly. I don't think anyone kills animals because of video games... do we kill a lot of animals in video games anyway?

Those would only really be in hunting games where... you are SUPPOSED to kill animals.

The only game where you DON'T kill animals, is actually the Deer Hunter series. You're really just hunting down humans in deer costumes.

I liked the whole "it's only a small jump" bit when referring to 'pointing and clicking' to 'buying a rifle, pushing it through an animals mouth, and firing.'

These people obvious have a PHD in Truthology.
