Martian Manhunter Joins The Injustice: Gods Among Us Roster

Martian Manhunter's release will also be accompanied by a brand new John Stewart skin for Green Lantern.

First, there was the revelation of new Street Fighter IV characters, now NetherRealm has also used this year's Evo fighting tournament to announce that Injustice: Gods Among Us will be getting a new character DLC in the form of alien crime fighter Martian Manhunter. The character was previously teased during a reveal of Mortal Kombat's Scorpion. A brand new John Stewart skin for the Green Lantern, complete with all-new voice acting, will be released together with the Martian Manhunter DLC.

Martian Manhunter will join General Zod, Lobo, Batgirl and Scorpion as the 5th DLC character for the game. Manhunter's popularity was apparently so great, that when developer NetherRealm first polled fans about who they wanted to see added as a DLC character, they didn't even include Manhunter on the list, because they were worried he would completely dominate the polls.

Martian Manhunter, alter ego "J'onn J'onzz", is a green-skinned alien from the planet Mars, who is pulled to earth by an experimental teleportation beam. Being stranded billions of miles away from his home planet, J'onn does what any other self-respecting Martian would do, and decides to become a crime fighter while waiting for his people to invent the technology to bring him home. Various iterations of the Manhunter have shown him possessing, telepathy, shape-shifting, projecting energy, x-ray vision, phasing, invisibility, flight, and super strength.

The trailer shows Manhunter and the new John Stewart Green Lantern duking it out, and showing off Manhunter's special abilities. No further details, including pricing or release date were offered, but previous Injustice character were sold for around $5, so we can probably assume similar pricing.

Damn, I thought you meant this John Stewart

And then I realized that was JON Stewart

And then I was sad.

Why wasn't he in the game to begin with?
I always though MM was a huge part of DC stuff.

So they could sell him to us later as DLC

Jon Stewart? That's pretty awesome.

Still, if that means they're open to other Lanterns...well, I think we all know who obviously needs to be in the game next.

C'mon, NetherRealms, you know it's true.

I'm wondering why he has laser eyes... when did that happen?

Either way, glad to see him. Always liked him as a character.

John Stewart's only a skin? That sucks, he should be his own character, he's way cooler than Hal Jordan. And yeah Martian Manhunter seems like a pretty big ommission. Should have been there in the first place.

Also quick question; are there any golden age skins/characters in Injustice? Can you fight as Alan Scott for example?

I'm still kind of surprised that POWER GIRL hasn't made it in yet.

While very very glad he finally made it into, of course I'm firmly in the camp that not only should he have been in it to begin with but also he he is DLC he at least been in instead of Scorpion.

Now then, are we going to get a close to trailer release date or is it going to be another Zod scenario where we wait for a month despite being finished?

So, does he have a transformation that involves OreosChocos? :D

Think the only problem with making John his own character is it would be a bit awkward to come up with a move set that doesn't seem more than superficially different from Hals. They could've done with changing some of the art assets though, as the attacks are all themed around planes/the air force. Though they should've just gone with John from the get go, John will always be my favourite lantern.

And unfortunately no, no golden age skins or characters, the closest there is to that is some classic skins for Teen Titans characters, but that's bronze age stuff.

As an aside, I'd love them to add Booster Gold, Blue Beatle and The Question though, The Question rocks.

Is that some classic Phil Lamarr and Carl Lumbly I hear? My DC Animated Universe boner is tingling.

I like that Martian Manhunter finally got into the game, I've got some issues with the John Stewart DLC skin. It's cool that its got the original voice actor from the Justice League/Justice League Unlimited animated series, I really wish they made him into a fully playable character rather than a new skin for Hal Jordan.

Yes, I would love to see Red Lantern Dex Starr added into the game. If Capcom can have Amaterasu in Marvel vs Capcom 3, then Injustice can have a rage-filled kitty. ^_^

I was thinking Mogo, but that works too.
