Assets up for sale also include PC brands Rise of Nations and Rise of Legends.

The state of Rhode Island is slated to sell off the assets of the late 38 Studios at an online auction on Nov. 14. The most prominent of these is the rights to the beleaguered Kingdoms of Amalur IP. Also included are the rights to PC strategy titles developed by 38 Studios subsidiary BIg Huge Games, Rise of Nations and Rise of Legends. And if anybody wants the rights to Catan, the Xbox Live version of board game Settlers of Catan, you can get that too.

The purchaser of the Amalur IP will get the rights to unreleased MMO "Project Copernicus" as well as the action-RPG Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, along with the rights to create any sequels to that game. Additional assets, such as fame concepts, artwork and designs, will be included with the Amalur purchase. There are certainly fans of the IP out there, as Reckoning was fairly well received and sold a fair share of units, so this auction may be their best hope for a follow-up. The auction will start at 9 a.m., Nov. 14, ending 12 p.m. Nov. 15.

Rhode Island came to own the Amalur and other IP after 38 Studios defaulted on a several million dollar loan to move the studio to Rhode Island.

PLEASE someone buy the RoN IP and make Rise of Nations 2. I need it so badly.

I really hope Amalur goes to a good home. Even EA were optimistic about it.

Why the wizards of smart at 38 studios never put Rise of Nations on Steam is beyond me.

Give it to Platinum!

Now that my automated response for any IP up for sale is done, I do really hope somebody buys Amalur and treats it well. I enjoyed the time I put into it, and would love to see a proper sequel for it (not an MMO)

I'd say give Amalur to Platinum as Andy said before since Plat are did great with Bayonetta's combat, I reckon they could do the same.

That and it would make for a great game on the Wii U seeing as how most that bought it got turned off by the game so they are pretty much lost.

Great at combat yes, but could they actually improve upon the RPG elements, story and dialogue though? As much as I like Platinum, they just don't come across as a good match for it, not even by a longshot.

OT: I'm dreading to hear who buys the Amalur IP. I just can't imagine it'll be anyone that'll actually do good things with, but that's just me being overly cynical...

EA is going to take Rise of Nations; I just know it.

I'm crossing my fingers for a good company to scoop up Rise of Nations. It was one of the first RTS games I've ever played and I love to see a new installment of it.

I don't see why EA wouldn't just flat out buy the development rights as well the publishing rights they already own. Does anybody know if EA had made a bid for the ip when the 38 Studios loan default nonsense went down last year?
