League of Legends Latest Cinematic Is a Jinx Music Video

League of Legends dev Riot Games sure know how to hype a new champion...

League of Legends developer Riot Games is starting to build a bit of a reputation for itself as a company that can deliver some solid cinematics. Its latest effort: "Get Jinxed," is a music video that promotes the impending release of the League's newest champion: Jinx, The Loose Cannon. With a catchy tune and plenty of explosions, it sure is an extravagant way to promote a single new champion!

The cinematic uses this somewhat odd, yet aesthetically pleasing style of mixing 3D models with anime-like effects. The song itself has a very "Pink" feel about it, which is pretty fitting to Jinx's character. In the video, she wreaks havoc in Piltover, the steampunk hometown of Caitlyn and Vi.

Unfortunately, Jinx spends most of the video fighting (or rather, slaughtering) random robot droids, and no other champions appear. It would have been cool to see Jinx and Vi have a cinematic showdown...

The song was composed by Agnete Kj°lsrud from the band Djerv, and you can download it for free from sound cloud.

Jinx doesn't have an official release date yet, but we can probably expect her to launch in the next (or the next next) big League of Legends patch.

Riot again proves they can't make female characters that wear clothes.

Lame random robot things.
What are they and why is she fighting them?
Why are they wasting so many resources on action porn instead of fleshing the universe out?

But thank god they introduced another ranged AD carry right after adding that other ranged AD carry.
There's a real shortage on aggressive champs like that after all!

Actually there are a shortage of AD carries compared to the amount of bruisers, mages, junglers etc. I'm disappointed that she's an ADC myself but there is a shortage.

Wow, that song is awful. The trailer by itself would've been alright but that hurt to listen to.

um... Kayle? Diana? Annie (child but still)? Karma? Lux? Quinn? Vi? Sejuani (at least post-change)? Lulu? Poppy? Vayne? Leona? Fiora? Irelia? All of them are well dressed.

Hell even a lot of the other champions, Riven, Syndra, LeBlanc, Kat... Aren't even that badly covered.

Geez... The length people will go to hate on Riot...

This looks like Tank Girl fanart. Very high quality fanart.

Like it matters, it's mostly ezreal anyway and jinx with no jump won't really do much to change that.

There's an ocean of adcs compared to things that don't go "boom boom damage" like singed, pre-ruination karma or ali.
They keep talking about how they are trying to innovate and push boundaries with each new champ but it ain't really happening an awful lot.

Dude, what are you even talking about? Lux. Quinn. Updated Sejuani. Vi. Riven. Vayne. Leona. Yeah, there are some fan-servicey characters as well, but there are plenty of modest-looking female champions in the League.

Unless your argument is about the practicality of the clothes (aka the boob plate argument), in which case, you're arguing a position that is logical, albeit misguided.

I don't get your gripe, what exactly do you want? The fact of the matter is there are not a lot of adc's and competitively it's even less as ezreal, caitlyn and vayne are about the only champions that are safe competitive picks.

You are actually wrong, factually wrong dude. I finally got tired of all the posts whining about adc's in league getting too much love and how they overwhelm everyone else in numbers and that is a straight up lie. I just took the time to count out every champion ive seen in each lane/role and top, jung and mid each have 23-30 champions that fill the roles, while true adc's there are only 13 or so. If anything, support needs some love even after they added thresh and his insanely powerful kit. So sick of people throwing out baseless complaints about league. It is not perfect, but at least nitpick the stuff thats actually wrong, don't just make things up.

Back on point, the song is pretty catchy and I am looking forward to trying jinx out, though I mostly top lane.

Are you sure you're arguing against me?
Cause I too would like more supports instead of more adcs, bruisers and mages. Or something truly unique like singed.
I'm not sure which point of mine you're proving wrong here.

I don't play LoL, nor do I intend to, but this character does look fun. She kind of reminds me of Tiny Tina.

Word has it she's being released tonight in the "Jinx Hotfix" that was announced.

Love the video, all sorts of awesome :D

I did get a strong Tiny Tina vibe from her as well, sort of like what I expect Tina to be when she is a bit older.

OT: Well that was fun to watch! And I cant help but laugh at the people who whine about how she is dressed, obviouslly have never seen what she is inspired by.

That would be awesome, but I fear rumors. D: Cause if it doesn't happen tonight I shall be disappoint.

How is singed "unique"? Yes there is no other champion like him but he's a pretty lazy character. A slow, flip and an ult that makes him run fast and be tanky. Whoopity doo

It doesn't matter how unique a champion is, they will be forced into a role or designed with a specific role in mind. More ADCs, while lame for non adc mains, is not a bad thing. If they just made another "unique" champion like singed it would just create another jungler or top laner and Riot obviously wants to balance the champions roles or make more competitive picks.

And to me Jinx is pretty unique. Her passive and stance swapping Q along with wall snare might make for some interesting plays. Her role may just be pew pew but she's not just a walking auto attack robot.

Dug brings up an interesting point about unique champions, and since you mentioned singed i assumed you wanted more top laners in your post whining about adcs. I looked up the release dates and the last ten champions released included: Elise, Zed, Nami, Vi, Thresh, Quinn, Zac, Lissandra, Aatrox, Lucian. I see two adcs released in the last year mate, So I am not entirely sure why you complained in your original post about another adc. You said something about an ocean of adcs right? I don't see it. Riot's pretty obviously attempting to balance out champion pools while still pleasing its player base. I think they have done reasonably well, seeing that nearly 100% of the champions released this last year have seen big use in pro play.

Every post about League someone complains about adcs, and it is really just silly. I never see people complain about more tops or mids, we need adcs and supports.

DugMachine:
How is singed "unique"?

Who else wins mostly by walking?

I don't know what to say to someone who doesn't think singed is an unique concept and thinks pew pew damage lady with some cc and a situational ms boost somehow is.

Alchemist08:
i assumed you wanted more top laners

No. Read again.

_______

It basically boils down to this: I wish riot stopped stroking their huge boner for "aggressive gameplay" and spent more time coming up with interesting, new mechanics that are not necessarily all about loldamage but that ain't gonna happen because now, even the "supports" are supposed to deal tons of damage while heals are slowly but surely getting patched out of the game.
The last thing I knew was they were eying soraka for a possible karma treatment.

The only thing unique about him is his poison trail. It doesn't make for exciting gameplay I can tell you that much. It's unique for the sake of being unique.

Every champions is unique in their own regard. Why wouldn't you want champions that are "aggresive" in a game where the goal is to kill the opposing team and take over their base?

The character is pretty much a giant homage/reference/knock-off/pick-your-poison of Tank Girl, so I think that's technically a compliment for them!

Much better than trying to argue this character is based off of Harley Quinn...

Clearly in the minority of those who actually enjoyed the Music Video/Character Introduction. Song was fairly catchy, the mix of 3D and 2D animation gave the whole thing this sweet mature/stylized Pixar aesthetic, and Jinx's character design nails being both sexy and less gratuitous than many of the other LoL Female Champions. On top of that, her personality (already heard her audio files) is pretty wicked. Between her looks and personality it's like Joker and Harley Quinn had a really hot daughter. Hat's off to Riot for taking the "WildStar" approach to bringing in their new characters and doing it with the same great visual quality and smart humor.

This. I may pick up this Champ. She seems like wicked fun to play.

I really like her eyes. Riot can make a good character model.

I don't care much for the game but the song is good and the animation was nice. That is all.

Because I prefer saving someone on my team over killing an enemy.
I'm the weirdo who prefers setting up kills over doing the killing and who keeps trying unusual strategies like tank zilean or trinity poke ad leblanc.
Basically I just wanna experiment and stuff like jinx with a very single minded "correct" role to be played in bore me to death.

lol, yeah, tank girl is exactly what came to my mind too. Wonder if her skin will give her a tank girl style hairdo XD

Suppose I can see where you're coming from. I main support so I prefer to protect and use utility/CC but the majority of champs are going to be "aggresive" damage dealers. Just how it is

Makes me want to look at League... but then I cba and go off to play Awesomenauts or a turned based stratagy insted :P

Also I like the character design for the tank girl nod pretty cool video/music, switching to comic book styled 2D art and 3d animation is pretty cool.

I don't play LoL, and from the video I wouldn't think it was for LoL. (Since I'm not familiar with the characters/lore) None the less I like the song and show that came with it. The words fit the character.

On a side note I will say I enjoyed the banter between the LoL players. I have no idea what the terms or references used mean. I'm kinda of envious of that level of passion for the game they love/like.

You forgot Varus. He is popular as a competitive ADC. But yeah we need more competitive ADC's.

Yeah. I saw a comment about how league has great characters that are wasted on this "crappy" game. I don't agree about the game being bad, but I am increasingly wishing that they would license other games in the LOL universe. There's so much potential in the characters they make and the world they're building with the lore. It'd be great to see them get used elsewhere.

This is something I can listen to on repeat and I have no investment in any Dota-like game

So good job riot at making a pretty good song
