Democracy 3 Wants You To Run The Country

"Let's face it," says Positech, "you could hardly do a worse job than our current political leaders."

"Crime, Unemployment, National Debt, Terrorism, Climate Change," Positech - the Redshirt studio -muses. "Have you got the answers to the problems that face western industrialized nations?" If so, take a shot at Democracy 3, now out at GOG, as well as Steam and the developer's website. Bear in mind, it draws on the events of the last few years to create its in-game timeline, so if you're the sort who blows a gasket when certain topics come up, maybe you should tread carefully. Or just punish the rich. Whatever floats your Donkey and/or Elephant.

You just can't beat the timing, really. You get to run an entire virtual country, with voting groups pulling you every which way in an effort to get you to create policies that suit them. There's a lot going on under the hood, but Democracy 3's icon-based interface helps show you what's going on - and how one thing affects all the rest - without breaking your brain. Think you can convince the nation to become socialist, atheist, or theist? It's not impossible, but it will want very careful policy nudges; one wrong step, and you're out of office.

If nothing else, you could always hold a nice tea party to calm your nerves. This one'll set you back about $25, more or less, whether from Steam, GOG or Positech

In Soviet America (thanks Obama), country runs you!
Now I have something to do next time Boehner shuts down the government.

Well I can't wait to play this and construct my own cute little police state!

You know, when JFK said "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country" I don't think that THIS is what he met. In all seriousness, I never saw much appeal in these games, but I can understand why people like them and respect their opinion.

This sounds about right.

It looks fun, though it technically just looks like Democracy 2 but well...slightly better I guess.

I don't think this game should be worth 25$, but I am interested in it, specifically because of my Political Aspirations. I might get it (Or it's Cheaper Prequel), and see if I truly like it.

At last!

Once again the colonies will come back under the rule of an ego-maniaicle Brit.

Hey, seemed to work for the Saints...

Doesnt seem worth it for 25 dollars, might wait till the steam winter sail to see if it goes on sale.

Hey maybe they'll Last starfighter it and the best person gets to run the country, Can't be any worse then how we've got the last 10 presidents.

I would support this.

Atleast then they would be able to demonstrate they know what the fuck they are doing before they get the damn job.

all of the outcomes of this would be really terrible

but also freaking hilarious

Enjoy being assassinated by capitalists, ethnic groups, religious fanatics and so forth for changing 1 or 2 laws. Plus bugs that freeze-lock the pc and force you to restart, or if you are lucky, having to close it via task manager. Massive Recessions every 2-3 years because the game cant actually give you anything difficult, aside from trying to change laws which ends in a game over within 1 or 2 turns.

Does it sound like im bitter? Yes i am, because thats the game right now, and it cost me 23 bucks.
