Walking Dead: Season Two Gets Lonely with New Trailer, Screenshots

Clementine's story continues from an entirely new perspective.

Telltale's The Walking Dead is one of those high water mark games that you find mentioned alongside critical classics like Bioshock and Shadows of the Colossus. We've known that Telltale's been working on a second helping of the zombie drama for a while now, but it's finally let us peer into the future with a teaser trailer and a handful of screenshots.

It's fair to say that the young girl Clementine was the reason Season One had such an emotional gut punch. Before, you played as an adult who protected and guided her. Now, Season Two places you in her shoes as she outwits the hungry undead and the even more dangerous living, all by herself. It's a vulnerable new perspective that can explore all kinds of interesting and dark places.

Haven't played the first one? It's available on everything from your Xbox to your iPad, with an Ouya release planned for the winter. In November, Telltale will release a Game of the Year edition that will include the original five episodes, the 400 days DLC pack, a soundtrack, and behind the scenes video, which should help get you caught up.

The Walking Dead: Season Two will break out of quarantine later this year. As before, a total of five episodes will be released over the course of the season, which will conclude in 2014. The season pass is up for pre-order from Steam and Telltale for $22.49. It will be released for PC, Mac, iOS, and "home consoles", with additional platforms possible.

Clem!

T^T

The feels train stops for no man!

Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait!

The triple AAA industry is spending billions of dollars on these huge experiences, when little Telltale comes along and make me more excited about the The Wolf Among Us and The Walking Dead.

I love that.

Welp, looks like it's time to board the feels train again.

Fuck you Telltale! I love you Telltale!

The hype train of feels has no brakes.
Can't wait to feel like shit and enjoy it all over again.

1 ticket for the feels train please! ._.
Man I cant wait to get back into this

By herself? Damn it Christa and Omid! You had ONE job to do!
And turn off the damn autoplay.

I hope we don't have to wait too long for this!

Bah, let me be a curmudgeon and say I wish they weren't going for a story continuation. I want to see new characters and new stories like in 500 days. Lets follow those people some more. With a whole world full of people to work with i'd rather get new stories instead of one that was already done.

Alright, I have made it onto the hype train. You guys should get on it before it leaves.

There's lots of cool things they can do with a perspective like that. If I can be a bummer for a sec though, hopefully there's less save incidents this time. It's a shame so many people got turned off by such a great game because of stuff like that.

Alright, I'm done. Choo choo!

I REALLY hope they explain that, because as much as I loved the ending that part pissed me off a bit...

Is that Kenny in the last screenshot?

Kind of hope so, cause, unlike most, i sort of liked that douche :D

Did not see that coming.

I was sure that 400 days meant that they were going to start off with a brand new set of characters. This... is interesting.

Since The Wolf Among Us convinced me that Telltale didn't just strike writing gold with the first Walking Dead I'll cautiously board they hype train for now.

Choo Choo Motherfuckers.

I enjoyed the juxtaposition of Lee's hopeful words with the utter hopelessness of Clem's situation. Though brief, it's a fairly powerful trailer for anyone who's completed the first game.
Time to put on my 'Overly Protective' hat and board the feels train with everyone else. I'll be there to look out for you Clem

She certainly looks older in the screenshots. Gonna get me another ticket for the hype train.

Although

Or something.
But yeah excited.

Looks like they've improved the lighting. I wonder if it's a new engine? I kind of hope so; I absolutely loved the first game, but the animations and movements were very rigid, and it seemed like a lot of cool stuff could have been shown had the engine allowed for it.

Technical mumbo-jumbo aside, I wonder how much time has passed since the first season? Clem seems a bit older.

Doesn't look like Kenny to me. He seems too young. He's also missing the beard.

...I think it kind of looks like Glenn. Could be wrong, though. It's just as likely to be someone from 400 Days, or a completely new character.

Kenny never had a beard :D
He had a moustache.

TELL ME THEY DON'T LOOK ALIKE

Huh. I must have misremembered. I haven't touched TWD as a whole since I got 400 Days (and I haven't touched the main game since even longer ago).

And yeah, that does look somewhat like him, given the angle. I still maintain it looks a little too young/smooth around the chin area, though. But this is just baseless speculation until we find out more.

I'm actually kinda worried because I don't have access to my save file from Season 1 and I'm bothered that the choices I made won't carry over... unless this game is independent from the choices in Walking Dead season 1.

You can always replay the first one :D

I think i'll do that before doing this one.
Probably.
Maybe.
If i'll have the time.
Probably not.

Welp. I just rebought Season 1 on Steam :P

Yeah you should probably do that if u do.

CLEMENTINE!!!!

Really excited. Didn't think we would actually be playing as her, so that should make things interesting. Since she isn't an adult, I wonder if they are going to have her playstyle be more stealthy or whatnot. She can take care of herself within reason, but she is still a kid afterall.

Regardless, Telltale can have all of my money and tears.

I'm a bit hesitant.

Maybe the first run was lightning in a bottle, and continuing this story could totally backfire. Also, at this point I don't think even Clementine can save me from zombie fatigue.

Still totally gonna check it out ofcourse, but I'm wary.

I think I'm just going to start crying now and hopefully get it out of my system by the time the game is released. Yay for Telltale fucking with my polygons!

In seemingly unrelated news, the sale of tissue boxes suddenly skyrocketed.

Really looking forward to this. I've been wanting to see what direction they were going to go in since the end of season 1.

Come on guys, whos supposed to be kenny there?
The bloke in the green shirt with the white hair? Obviously not.
And the blury dude in the last pic looks nothing like kenny. If i am not wrong he looks a bit asian even, although that's always hard to tell from behind.

Verry excited, though the trailer was a little lackluster. I am going to have to go into internet lockdown until all chapters are released so I can play through it all in one session like I did with the 1st season. Totally fine with playing as Clem too, it was arguably just as much her story as it was Lee's in season 1.

Telltale? Don't you dare kill Clementine.

I'm not threatening anything. I'm not the kind to say I'm going to boycott your products because of an artistic choice, let alone threaten violence. Let me be clear, there's no rhetorical or ironic reversals intended in that statement.

All that said?

Don't you fucking dare kill Clementine. I will never forgive you if there's one road through this thing and it leads to that. Ever.

I hear it's set two years after season 2. From this I think it can be confirmed that

Did they hire a new "product not yet rated" guy?

Uhh, tbh, I never liked Kenny... Although with that being said...

Maybe?
...I was too busy doing what I always do after hearing that... say what the rating of the game would end up being and 9 times out of 10, I would be right... (It's been an off-day in rating-predicting lately...)

OT: Well, before I even touch Season 2, I'm definitely buying the Game of the Year version of Season 1... since I only got to play it thanks to my cousins on Steam and convinced my friend to download it off of PSN once he got his PS3 for Kingdom Hearts 1.5... (Also, the GOTY version comes with the soundtrack... and FPLOON loves getting soundtracks as bonuses...)

well....

Clem still carries around a picture of Lee..
Damn it Game! It's not even released yet and it's already making me feel depressed!

Also, hooray for Kenny returning! Unlike some people I had enjoyed that abrasive asshole and i'm happy for his return.

p.s. 100 posts! woot!

Really should get around to finishing the first one. Unfortunately some asshat on these very forums spoiled the end for me just after I finished episode 1, kinda killed my motivation to play the rest....
