Hearthstone Confirmed For iPhone and Android

Blizzard has announced that Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft is coming to iPhone and Android devices.

Blizzard Chief Creative Officer Rob Pardo revealed today that the free-to-play collectible card game Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft will be released for iPhone and Android devices sometime in the second half of 2014.

Versions of the game have previously been announced for the PC, Mac and iPad, but Pardo acknowledged at Blizzcon that "not everyone actually has tablets." Those versions of the game will hopefully go into open beta in December, although Pardo said it's possible that the beta could be pushed back to January 2014.

Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft is a free-to-play CCG set in the Warcraft universe in which players build virtual decks and pit them against each other in one-on-one battles over Battle.net. Josh Vanderwall took a closer look at the game in an October preview, in which he described it as "a fun distraction that will keep you entertained for hours on end."

They need some more interesting game play, having to win like 10 games with each class just to get the basic cards for the class is annoying.

Getting only 10 gold for 3 wins is annoying.

I played the beta a lot for about a week and then stopped because it was just to samey and I couldn't try anything interesting because I didn't have the right cards.

There is a lot of potential here, but they need to be less aggressive in their f2p model.

As someone who hates evil f2p models and just won't play a game if anythings locked out I actually find Hearthstone's to be fine.

The 10 gold for 3 wins isn't the main income, that is just a bonus. Money comes from the daily quests that give you 40-60 for around 3 wins. I basically play about 5 games(ish) day and been getting into the arena every other day or so where you're guaranteed at least 1 card pack and if you do well multiple. Then the hidden achievements like 100 wins gives you 300 gold, I haven't felt the need to spend any money on the game and I can hold my own and get enough card packs to satisfy.

I also wouldn't want to be able to get cards too quickly as there aren't even that many yet, so just unlocking everything straight would be boring.

Ya well it ended up just like my Wow Account, I logged in to do the daily quest and then logged out, then after a couple weeks of that I just stopped logging in.

Different game same exact problem, I'm honestly not sure how blizzard managed it.

I gotta say, I'm pretty psyched.

I got into the beta around two weeks ago and I've been playing pretty much none stop. The idea of playing hearthstone on my phone only sweetens the deal.

Anyone know if I can play against people on phones with my computer? or Iphones can play with Androids? I'm honestly clueless as to how that's going to work.

This is the platform the game will really work on. OK not got into the beta yet, but I can still see the potential on a mobile device

And as far as I know, Blizzard intend all platforms to use the same battle.net accounts, so you can play on any platform, against people on any other, and switch from PC to tablet when you want etc.

Oh jeez playing Hearthstone on my phone would eat up so much free time it's not even funny.

I got into the beta a few weeks ago and it's already eating up a significant amount of my time. >-> The amount of procrastination that game generates is astounding.

Also, for being a guy that doesn't like TCGs, I can't keep my hands off of it. It's simple and easy to play, the music is so catchy and tavern-y, and the art and effects look great. I also love the prospect of me not paying a cent, yet still being able to win plenty of games.

This game isn't pay to win, by any means. Paying just means you get access to card packs which you could otherwise earn by playing the game normally. Every 100 gold you get, you are allowed to purchase a pack of 5 random cards. A rare card is included in every pack, but you may even get lucky and get something better than a rare, like a legendary. You can get the gold by winning three games in a row (10 gold) or doing a daily quest (40-60 gold). It keeps you playing, and now that they're adding PvE and more cards, I can see myself playing this game for a looooooong time.

EDIT
Oh yeah! I forgot to mention the Disenchanting system! If you have more than 2 of a certain card (or 1 legendary) you are allowed to disenchant a card for a certain amount of "dust" points. These dust points can be used to make cards you don't have, with each card varying in how much dust they require in order to be created. Common cards disenchant for about 5 dust, while Legendaries can go for 400 dust. Golden versions of cards quadruple the amount of dust earned when disenchanting. It's a great system, and allows you to do something with all of your duplicate cards.

Sweet! I haven't been able to get into the beta and I've been enviously watching Totalbiscuit's videos. I would love to play this on my Nexus 7.

Honestly Blizzard really needs to actually step up and give players agency when it comes to generating gold. Getting a stupid quest from on high daily is really terrible. Yes you want to encourage players to play EVERYDAY but a good deal of the quests given are just stupid and often to complete ASAP you will build stupid decks.

The other issue is that it is too focused on winning to progress. You can literally go an entire week losing games, losing daily quests, and getting no progression. I went an entire weekend in multiple hour sessions playing straight going up against priests only(it's the current FOTM due to having the most power from SOULBOUND decks). Only won one match. Yet to even have the opportunity to get cards that would beat the combos they perform one needs gold and you can only get gold by winning.

EDIT: Also how is this news? This was like announced by blizzard devs that it was their intention to go full on apple and android on the beta forums like 2 months ago.

I'm guessing that this will be cross platform, so everyone can play everyone. If so, that will help the game immensely.
