| YouTube Now Playing on PS3s, Wiis, Not 360s
"YouTube for Television", a beta service from Google's YouTube team to display full-screen video made for television, is being adapted to work with Wiis, PS3s and upcoming television sets with built-in web browsers - but not Xbox 360s.
YouTube officially announced that it "has partnered directly with major TV and set-top box manufacturers" to include primitive web browsers inside televisions interfaces featuring "enlarged text and simplified navigation." Viewers will be watching across 22 geographies and in over 12 languages.
The Wii and PS3 consoles are currently the only game systems that support YouTube. Whether this is because the Xbox 360 doesn't have an internet browser or that it's produced by Microsoft, Google's arch-nemesis in business, is up for debate.
If you're really desiring the dramatic chipmunk (yes, we know it's actually a prairie dog) on your TV set, take your web browser to http://youtube.com/tv from your console of choice.

I think those shows end up becoming lame because they purpoisefully get the blandest and least creative videos imaginable, and then use bombadier tactics with ads. |
| Uh, I don't get the need for this. My friend's already shown me this video (BEER IS GOOD! [ALLCAPS required]) on his Wii. |

Now people are getting paid for it. |

Paid for what, exactly? Sorry, I don't exactly understand... |

Someone somewhere is getting money, i'm not sure who. |
| Wait, YouTube is owned by Google? |
| Youtube also works on my classic Xbox. Of course, it's running XBMC. |
| Couldn't you just buy a mouse for the PS3? |
| The first Wii Internet Browser supported youtube. Old news. |

Most like google. |

I have a regular mouse that works on it, now I just need a Keyboard. |
| I just watch them as I normally would on my PS3. I don't need full screen on my TV to make me love Arby n the Chief anymore. |
| Graustein: Wait, YouTube is owned by Google?
They bought YouTube almost four years ago. |
| Oh boo-hoo, you guys get Bioshock, Blazblue, Halo, The Orange Box, and most other 3rd party titles worth giving a shit about. But NO YOUTUBE?!?!?!?!?!

I feel your pain...
Well actually not really, but I understand it. =]
(and for whatever it's worth, my PS3 is collecting dust. Thanks PC) |
| I am more upset about no Uncharted than I am about not youtube. What's this a laptop on my coffee table, right here in front of my tv? If I feel really creative I can plug this cable into that port on my tv and Eureka youtube on the big screen.
I am much more disappointed about no ESPN coming to Canada's xbox live. I would have given extra cash to my ISP or Cable provider or Xbox for that as an opt in opt out sort of deal. |
| I suppose Mircosoft benefits from this again the 360 has been shot in the foot.
