New League of Legends Gamemode Increases Team Size to Six

league of legends hexakill game mode

The "Hexakill" gamemode will be available from February 20 until March 2.

Everyone knows that the traditional League of Legends match, or even the vast majority of matches in other MOBAs, consists of two teams of five players. But, for a limited time only, Riot Games is mixing things up a little, by introducing a new game mode: "Hexakill", that increases the team size to six.

"Double junglers, roaming supports and six man wombo combos are all on the table for this new mode. Experiment with team comps and discover new metas as you seek to hear the ultimate announcement, "Hexakill."

Anyone familiar with the game knows that a "Pentakill" is when a single champion manages to kill all five enemy champions in rapid succession, so, "Hexakill" is the natural progression of that. Aside from the additional player, the rules of the "Hexakill" gamemode are exactly the same as a regular Summoner's Rift game.

Hexakill will only be available from Feburary 20 until March 2, as part of Riot's new "featured gameplay modes" rotating suite of wacky and experimental game modes. You may recall that featured gameplay modes kicked off last year with "One for all" - a gamemode that allowed multiple players to pick the same champion.

This sounds like a fun new gamemode! I'm glad Riot is following through with its featured gameplay modes, it's a great way to shake things up for players without changing things permanently.

Is it just me or does it seem like Riot is really starting to really reach to try and get players to stay around.

It's just you. No really it is just you.
How is this a reach? They've been playing around with for fun modes for a bit, this is what the 3rd or 4th one? They're just throwing in temporary alternatives which let's players screw around with things that would never be viable.
Seriously how is this a surprise when you posted in another News thread about another fun mode...

Hate knowing that a mode I like will be gone with time.

I loved the blizzard show down 2v2.

Heh, they'd have to actually record the announcer woman saying hexakill whilst reaching orgasm for her to sound more excited than she is for a penta.

I'll give the mode a go or two sure, but I spend most of my time on the murder bridge these days.

The sound is actually out already.

Don't know if it is more "orgasmic" or not, you be the judge.

New game mode? I remember doing custom 6v6 matches with some sort of hax when I was still playing League of Legends.

After a trip to youtube to figure out what the other's sounded like, I'd say it's not orgasmic enough. She kinda sounds like she's about to do some voodoo shit or something.

I almost feel bad, cause I was about to say "hex" instead of "voodoo" in that statement.

Ditto. I loved the "one for all" game mode while it was around, even if it was only for a little while. I don't see the point of this stuff being temporary in the least. Just let me enjoy my 5 Heimderdinger vs 5 Lee Sin games, why dontcha Riot?

So their idea for that new exciting game mode experiment is maxplayers+1?
Eh...

I thought they'd go more crazy like breaking away from the "team A vs team B" paradigm by adding team C or something like that.

If you're big into League of Legends maxplayers+1 is actually a pretty big deal.

Need more 10 lvl 1 Baron kill modes. Custom fun rules are where the cure for boredom is at, like ultimate bravery or escorting the Soraka bot matches. You need max 9 friends to pull them off though.
