Wolfenstein: The New Order Gameplay Trailer Plays Soccer, Shoots Guys

Wolfenstein hero B.J. Blazkowicz has nowhere to run to, baby, and nowhere to hide.

Wolfenstein: The New Order continues to intrigue with a new gameplay trailer that isn't quite enough to push me into the "definitely going to buy it" camp, but offers enough to hold my attention and keep me wanting more.

The shooty bits look pretty exciting, but it really all comes down to the narrative element. The trailer, and those that have gone before it, make the game look like it's going to have a pretty strong story, but of course that's what they're intended to do: Show off the game at its absolute best and play up whatever parts are most likely to make it stand out.

Mixing the grim, serious business of Nazis - even if they happen to be Nazis From Another Dimension - with one of the best-known anthems of the 60s is certainly eye-catching. Will it translate into a good game? I don't know, and thus the hesitation. But even if I don't preorder, I'm certainly going to keep paying attention.

Wolfenstein: The New Order comes out on May 20 for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Right so a dark serious storyline that revels in the ridiculous nature of its setting. One that has a sick sense of humor. And energy weaponry to kill nazi mechs.

Yah.
So.
Actually looking forward to this one.

Am I wrong, or did we see we see some kind of laser/welding tool used to cut a hole in a terrain obstacle, to make a make-shift gun-port?

Oh... daddy likes

Yep, you can do that all right. Fire lasers through cover. Seemingly counter-intuitive, but ice cool nonetheless.

I've missed shooting Nazi's so much, I can't wait for this game.

This one seemed a bit darker then it should (for a game that seems so dumb in concept) but I was suprised to the amount of new story content that wasnt already shown in the other story trailers, like this could have been a trailer for the sequel of that game story wise. Since this is single player only it may be quite a lenghty game.

This game has been very interesting since the first time I saw footage of it.

Can't wait to play it now, I bet it's going to be awesome!

I see that being useful actually, I think they just did it with the player's own cover to show the mechanic up close. Even then, I might not be able to get a clear shot at some point, so rather then run out of cover to get a better shot, I can just make a glory hole ('cause I'm gonna fuck shit up) in the cover I've got and use that.

That is true...and that's really what embrasures are for. The maximum of firepower with the minimum of exposure. The gun does seem to make sense the more I think about it. I wish other developers made lasers that interesting.

On another note, I want to use that gun a boss fight with Mecha-Hitler (or Mecha-Successor of Hitler, given Hitler himself may very well be dead by the time the game happen). And I actually want to use that laser to expose a weak point, or rather, make a weak point.
