Hearthstone Meets Game of Thrones in Fan Made Crossover Deck

Hearthstone Meets Game of Thrones in Fan Made Crossover Deck

An enterprising fan has transformed 31 Game of Thrones characters into cards for Blizzard's Hearthstone.

At this point we feel safe in saying that Hearthstone is pretty danged fun. Not that we're expecting this to be any surprise to you. Heck, chances are you're probably playing it right now and you're just using The Escapist as a distraction to keep you entertained while you wait for your opponent to make their next move.

You know what else is fun? Game of Thrones. Granted, the HBO series draws its entertainment value from a slightly darker, bloodier pool than Hearthstone, but the fact remains that they're both addictive fantasy properties that draw their fans in and never let them go. In other words, they're perfect candidates for a cross over.

Enter Imgur user GameofStones who recently uploaded a custom deck of Hearthstone cards based on characters from the Game of Thrones television series. Featured among the 31 cards are prominent characters including Arya, Daenerys, Jon Snow and, of course, the king of all cool Tyrion Lannister.

The cards themselves are built from a hodge podge of properties, many of which are based very clearly off of the characters as they're portrayed in the show. Joffrey, for instance, comes equipped with a Battlecry ability that enrages his minions. Arya, meanwhile, gains +1 attack whenever a friendly minion dies. This is all just for fun, of course, but it's still neat to see all of these characters boiled down to this basic form. Take a look at the deck and let us know what you think and which are your personal favorites.

I WANT THIS IMMEDIATLY. *ahem* Yeah, I've been playing Hearthstone and watching Game of Thrones for the first time lately and I definitely like both... seriously, I WANT THIS NOW!.

EDIT: I just love how useless the Sansa card is, pretty much like how she is xD
Also it would've been hilarious if a boar would be Robert's only weakness :3

Are you kidding, throw down a defender of Argus on Sansa for all the laughs.

I'm guessing if Dany was in there her's would be the summoning of the dragon eggs.

I'd love to play this crossover.

This one and the Diablo one were very well made.

The Hound:
Enrage: Take control of all chickens in play.

Laughed so hard I almost shit myself.

Also, Jorah is sad, even in card form.

Click the link and you can see all the cards. Dany's 4 mana 2/2 battlecry: Summon 3 dragon eggs. (which are 0/1 deathrattle: spawn a 5/5 dragon)

Some of them are pretty funny, though some were stupid and some were stupidly broken.

My psychic powers prevail.

So what I'm guessing is as a Warlock drop Dany on turn 5, then use hell fire to clear the board get three 5/5. Ah, such broken power.

I'm gonna take every chicken in the room. Then somebody's gonna die.

Where's the Podrick card? "Remove all female attackers from play. Enrage: If Tyrion takes damage, gain +3 Attack."

Let's just nerf these cards for fairness shall we.

Olenna Tyrell: 2/2 for 5. Battlecry: *ALL* creatures, except for Olenna, lose 3 attack.
Varys: 2/3 for 3. Stealth. At the *START* of your turn, Varys has a 50% chance at revealing a random card from your opponent. Cannot Attack.
Oberyn Martell: 2/2 for 5. Windfury. Destroy any card damaged by this minion.
Gregor Clegane: 8/8 for 8. If targeted, Gregor will attack *ANY* minion or player at random.
Margaery Tyrell: 2/1 for 3. Whenever this minion is targeted by an enemy minion, there is a 50% chance it will hit a different random minion.
Loras Tyrell: 3/2 for 4. When a friendly minion is destroyed, gain +1 Attack.
Brienne: 4/5 for 5. Whenever a friendly minion receives damaged from a spell, gain +1 Attack.
Sandor Clegane: 4/4 for 6. Taunt. Battlecry: Take control of all chickens in play. When Sandor is damaged, summon a 1/1 Angry Chicken.
Jorah Mormont: 3/3 for 3. If a Targaryen minion is in play, gain Taunt.
Dragon Egg: 0/2 for 1. Deathrattle: Summon a 1/1 Baby Dragon.
(for reference:) Baby Dragon: 1/1 for 2. At the *END* of your turn Baby Dragon gains +1/+1
Jon Snow: 3/3 for 4: Battlecry: Summon a 2/2 Direwolf: Ghost
Sansa Stark: 0/1 for 0. Can't be targeted. Can't be buffed. Immune to spells. Can't attack.
Tyrion Lannister: 1/4 for 4. Battlecry: Adjacent minions gain Taunt. At the *START* of your turn, draw a card.
Tywin Lannister: 7/5 for 8. Battlecry: Draw 2 cards. Gain +1/+1 for every Lannister in play.
Khal Drogo: 6/4 for 5. When Khal Drogo attacks *ANY* minion, its deathrattle does not activate.
Robert Baratheon: 7/4 for 4. Charge. At the *END* of your turn, Robert Baratheon loses -2/-1.
Stannis Baratheon: 4/4 for 6. Whenever your hero takes damage, deal that same amount to the enemy hero.
Renly Baratheon: 2/3 for 4. Taunt. At the *START* of your turn, Renly gives +1 health to a random friendly minion.

I think these are a little more fair to the game. Opinions? Modifications?

So, I was thinking, you could have Little Finger's whores be like the games version of Murlocks, and have Joffery have Battlecry: deal 2 damage to all whores.

Pretty clever stuff. Love the powers and abilities chosen, very well though through.

Also Hearthstone is an extremely fun game, just cant stop playing it.

Dat power level. You could feasibly get a 5/5 dragon for 1 on turn 2. As an early drop that would be BRUTAL and even as a late drop you can just suicide it in. It's either silence it or lose the game.

Sansa Stark: 0/1 for 0. Can't be targeted. Can't be buffed. Immune to spells. Can't attack.
Robert Baratheon: 7/4 for 4. Charge. At the *END* of your turn, Robert Baratheon loses -2/-1.

I'd change these ones a bit:

Dragon Egg: 0/12 for 1. Attack is always 0. Can only be damaged by fire. Deathrattle: Summon a 1/1 Baby Dragon.
Sansa Stark: 0/1 for 0. Play on opponent's side. Can't be targeted. Can't be buffed. Immune to spells. Can't attack.
Robert Baratheon: 7/4 for 4. Charge. At the *END* of your turn, Robert Baratheon loses -2/-1. Dies if Stonetusk Boar is played.

Dragon Egg: I feel the card might be considered useless at that point, Dragons are supposed to (eventually) be a threat in A Song of Ice and Fire.
Sansa Stark: I feel you actually gave that card a viable use. Being too useful doesn't sound too Sansa.
Robert Baratheon: Too specific. Doesn't really work to Hearthstone. Maybe this: 7/4 for 4. Charge. Battlecry: If a beast minion is in play, destroy this minion. At the *END* of your turn, Robert Baratheon loses -2/-1.

I don't play Hearthstone myself, but I watch Rhapsody's LPs, so I have a little understanding. Jorah looks pretty terrible. I think my favourite is Bronn, who is always controlled by the player with the most health, which I think is a pretty clever ability.

Playing Hearthstone is a lot like living in the world of Game of Thrones. Everything seems okay until, without warning, someone does something ridiculously, idiotically unfair and kills you.

Seriously, Hearthstone sucks balls.

Man, I have to say Stannis still seems pretty OP

I don't take the "metagame" of HS seriously, but it's really easy to get into and fun to play a few games in your off time

Consider the card, if you will, a pseudo-taunt, it's not necessarily a taunt card but it's effect is dire enough that your opponent will spend their turn getting rid of it, which due to it's low heath, high mana cost and tendency to be an automatic target may come across as "not worth having in the deck". Just like the real Stannis.

It seemed super fun until my opponents started dropping blatantly broken cards. Not even combos, mind you. Just single, isolated cards that almost instantly win the game.

Just my take on it, though.
