| Prince of Persia Gets "Epilogue" DLC
First Fallout 3, now Prince of Persia. Seems you can't buy a real game ending for 60 bucks these days. "Epilogue," which will continue the storyline of Prince of Persia after the end of the game, will be released on February 26.
Set directly after the events of the retail game, "Epilogue" will "develop the relationship between the Prince and Elika following the end of the game and will give additional narrative elements," explained associate producer Jamal Rguigui to IGN. In addition to extending the plot, the DLC will add some new tricks for both the Prince and Elika, a whole new location for that dynamic duo to explore, a new enemy and possibly even a higher level of challenge for the players who found the game a bit too much of a cakewalk.
Elika gets a new power called Energize, which grants her the ability to reconstruct destroyed areas of an environment for a limited amount of time. Meanwhile, the Prince gets a new attack to use in combat called Sprinting Clash that basically does what it sounds like: triggers a dramatic sprint attack where the Prince and his opponent run at each other and clash weapons.
Speaking of enemies, there will be a new one to go along with the new area in the DLC, The Underground Palace. "The Shapeshifter is an enemy that takes the form of two of Ahriman's most fearsome Lieutenants, the Warrior and the Hunter," Rguigui explained. "Though their physical form is familiar to our heroes and the player, it will requires a particular strategy to defeat the Shapeshifter, rewarding the player that takes advantage of the new sprint feature exclusive to the Epilogue."
One of the main criticisms of Prince of Persia was that it was too easy, that the acrobatics and combat just felt like glorified quick-time events. Ubisoft isn't totally unaware of these complaints, and seems to be trying to address them with this DLC. "What hardcore Prince of Persia gamers want is a challenge and some of them found the game too easy," Rguigui said. "We understand this. Seeing such feedback, our vision and intentions with the DLC coincided with their comments quite well."
"Epilogue" is scheduled for release on February 26. Ubisoft didn't reveal any pricing plans, but this sounds like a pretty hefty update, so expect to spend a week's allowance of Spacebucks for it.

| I love this game genre, enjoy playing through Prince of Persia right now, so I'll be getting this, especially since they're making things a bit harder, which is a good thing for this game. The Shapeshifter sounds a bit uninspired though. |
| I like the story between the Prince and Elika, so I'll just wikipedia the plot later. The game just didn't do it for me for my first foray into action/platformers. |
| I hope they don't overcharge this, since you're basically PAYING to see the end. |

I personally agree that the Shapeshifter is nothing more than a Frankenstein cross between half of the current bosses in the game. However, I wont be buying this DLC because it looks to me that this is the kind of thing that really should have been released with the original game. The release time is too close to the original shipping date to have been worked on after production, so I'm betting that they probably finished it during production, then pulled it out to make the full game cost an additional $10. |
| So god damn annoying. I mean the game was average to me and I like the relationship and I will admit the ending PISSED ME OFF. However, this is one of those times where DEVELOPERS SHOULD NOT LISTEN TO YOUR FANS!
They could move on and work on another game. This game was not meant for the hardcore but the collectors and completionists. I am really hating these microtransactions. I also hope they will make this available on all three platforms(360,PS3 and PC). |
| I really hope the "New or extended endings" as DLC doesn't become a get out of jail free card for shitty endings in games, although that seems to be the case. |

Given the amount of red tape and QA etc that console releases have to go through, though, there likely was a period of a few months after they could no longer make changes to the game but before it was actually released. So it's not an evil moneygrubbing tactic, it's just efficient use of resources. |
| This is getting ridiculous. |
| *starts to pull out his hair*
FIRST THEY DISGRACE THE PRINCE, NOW THEY WANT US TO PAY FOR MORE OF THIS SHIT!!! |
| Think PC gamers will have to pay for this? I have to pay extra for the Fallout DLC and my friend didn't have to. If this isn't free I'm not getting it. |
| Why do they do that? Finish the god damn game and then release it. Don't release it and announce DLC about 3 months later were we get stuff which could have been in the original game. |
| The new boss is basically recycled old bosse. Although the original ending may not have been satisfactory, it was definitely an ending. The new attack sounds like it's tacked on what we already have, and in general this feels like it's an addendum, not something stripped from the original game. Also they're supposedly making the game harder, which I doubt would be (easily) possible if it was all old content.
In short, I don't believe this was stripped content. That doesn't mean it is, or isn't worth the price; we don't even know the price yet; just that it doesn't seem like an "unclock stuff already on the disc" kind of deal. If you didn't like the game, there's no reason to buy the DLC anyway. Like I said, I do like the game, so I'll reserve judgement until I played Epilogue. |
| harhol: This is getting ridiculous.
I have to admit harhol has a point, it seems to much to ask for a completely finished game these days, DLC used to be for new maps or guns or stuff like that, now it's just to end the game you already paid for, Is an ending too much to ask for? |
| The fuck? Seriously, is selling game endings for extra money becoming the industry norm? What the fuck happened to releasing a finished game, and leaving it finished? |
| Keane Ng: Meanwhile, the Prince gets a new attack to use in combat called Sprinting Clash...
For some reason, I read that Spinning Cash. |
