Majora's Mask 3D Limited Bundle Includes Skull Kid Figurine

Nintendo has unveiled a new Majora's Mask 3D limited-edition bundle for North America.

You may recall back in November 2014 when Nintendo unveiled a snazzy collector's edition for its upcoming 3DS re-release of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. Unfortunately for North Americans, it was sadly confirmed that the collector's edition would only be releasing in Europe. Thankfully, Nintendo has revealed that it has no intention of leaving its Canadian and American customers in the lurch. The company has announced that it will be releasing another special version of the game for North America.

Launching on the same day as the game's regular version, the newly announced "limited-edition bundle" will include the game, unique packaging and a "detailed" figurine of the game's antagonist: the Skull Kid. No information was included about the exact dimensions of the figurine, but it appears in pictures to be a bit taller than a standard 3DS game case. The bundle, altogether, will cost $49.99 (standard versions $39.99) and is already available for pre-order.

Or it would be if supplies weren't already selling out. While we haven't scoured every game selling retailer on the internet, both Amazon and GameStop have listed the bundle as being currently unavailable. Amazon, in a statement, confirmed that "the first batch" of the limited edition bundle has "sold out already." Honestly, we're not that surprised. While some took issue with its structure and deviation from the classic Zelda formula, Majora's Mask is remembered by many as one of the best things that the franchise has ever produced. In other words, there's an audience for these kinds of extras.

Heh for once, US and Canada got a good limited/ exclusive edition for once as I would rather have the figure than the pin!

Wish I had learned this sooner it's already sold out on Amazon for pre order

I went to preorder the special edition as soon as I saw this story, and then I read that it was already sold out.

Get faster Escapist >:(

God damn it Nintendo. I'm signed up on your newsletter to be told about these things. WHAT'S THE POINT IF YOU RELEASE IT UNDER THE RADAR AND DON'T TELL ME?!

Yep, it's gone already. Even Google's clairvoyance has failed.

Though, I'd rather have the European edition. I'd don't really have safe spots for figurines right now, and something about putting a malevolent creature, that can pull the moon towards the world, on a shelf with a good view makes me uncomformtable. Come on, Nintendo, just make one bundle for the entire world. You are pretty much the only company I would buy a special edition from anymore.

(Though it is pretty dirty to charge almost twice as much for a bundle with just a poster, a pin and a steel book as a figurine that's taller than a 3DS case.)

And it's all sold out thanks to fucking scalpers. Apparently people are bragging how they preordered 2-6 of these editions. Isn't that nice, those who work or can't check the internet a lot get screwed over. It's like the limited edition PS4 for the 20th Anniversary of Playstation again. Why did they not limit this to being one per customer at places like GameStop I'll never know.

Edit: Hey guys, GameStop just "suddenly" managed to build together a new bundle, The Ultimate Limited Edition. And here's the kicker, after taxes and everything it turns to being close to double the price of the original Limited Edition. You know, it's times like this that make me remember why I stopped shopping at GameStop. I hope Nintendo of America sees this, because this is honestly rather sad, almost as much as that Xenoblade Chronicles and Metroid Prime Trilogy reprint they tried pulling off as being people selling them back to GameStop.

Here's the Ultimate Limited Edition

Edit 2: And the Ultimate Limited Edition is now sold out it seems. This means that the only remaining place that will have this bundle is Fry's Electronics, which hasn't gone online as of this time.

I wonder if Australia gets a cool bundle. I don't own a 3DS but I am strongly considering getting one for when Majoras Mask comes out as it is my favourite game of all time.

Here's the Ultimate Limited Edition

All they did was jam the "collector's edition" strategy guide in with the original limited edition, inflating the price. I could 100% MM in my sleep, so I don't need, not want, a guide. Thanks, Gamestop, for saving some copies from the scalpers, just to do it yourself.

I love how they didn't even wait a day to start putting this bundle together. Apparently people were calling GameStop about preordering and they said that people would have to wait till tomorrow, and now we see why. Even better, apparently scalpers on SlickDeals are saying that GameStop will allow you to return the guide...giving GameStop more profit. So no, this isn't safe from scalpers still. >.>
Hell, on SlickDeals there are people bragging how they have between 3 to 10 copies of the limited edition, and are prowling Fry's Electronics for when it goes live there. So yeah, any person who legitimately wanted that statue and the game get screwed over again by scalpers. I hope Nintendo sees what GameStop is doing and decides to go to different stores in the future because it's just sad to see this.

The whole bundle only costs $50? Huh. How expensive will the game be on its own?

I mean, I'm going to get it anyway, since Majora's Mask is my favorite game of all time, but still...

$40 for the regular retail at this time.

Though do expect the bundle to show up on eBay release day for $100+ :\

Pfft, only $100. You are thinking too low my friend. And all of those are for the preorder only, in which by the time the game actually comes out and the bundle ships to the original person, then it'll probably be passed the 45 Day period in which you can actually cancel the order or ask for a refund. Ironically enough, GameStop's own scalping scheme is cheaper than eBay for right now, but who knows how long those new "Ultimate" bundles will last.

I put a plus there. Don't think I can't see ahead >.>

My mistake. I did not see the plus at the end. I wonder if eBay will ever update their rules to not allow preorders to be sold ahead of time if the person doesn't have the actual item being sold. I mean, they eventually changed their policy when it came to selling souls after that apparently became a problem.

I think we need to start griping at ebay, Gamestop, Amazon and Nintendo. Otherwise, this could go on for another game or two.

If Sony is willing to come out about how they didn't like the scalpers selling Anniversary PS4's at 400% markup, then Nintendo should definitely take a firmer stance against the crap going on with ebay, Gamestop and all of the random opportunists lucky enough to notice the bundle before fans did.

You know, I'm rather disappointed it isn't a limited edition Amiibo as well. though that would probably add more fuel to the raging fire the lack of communication and supply Nintendo has caused with their Amiibos

I'm getting this but where's my Fierce Deity toy?

It would be nice to have, I mean the price isn't bad considering the game alone is $40
but it's sold out, so, I guess I don't need it :(

The price of that thing was really good!
Anyway, I don't want the figure or the pen or whatever. I just want the game. I think I'm just going to go ahead and preorder it.

50 bones?! I could totally buy that!
*finds out it's sold out*
...Fuck! If only I knew how the play the Song of Time!

Yes! All of this! In my face! Blblblblblblbl.
I'd even get this before getting a New 3DS, not only because it's limited edition but also because it has that Skull Kid figurine!

pearcinator:

We got the EU limited edition bundle, It was exclusive to EB games and their pre-order stock is already sold out.

Eh, skullkid is cool, but I don't need a figurine of him, he's not that big a deal. I'd rather just get a figurine of Majora's Mask itself to hang on my wall or something.

FPLOON:

You've met with a terrible fate haven't you?

Sorry, I couldn't stop myself.

Fuck these limited region collector's editions, I wanted that Figurine to sit next to my fatty Dorf, but because I live in Europe I can't get it! (At least not without paying a ton extra for something I probably can't even use... Forgot if 3ds was region locked or not)

But that's assuming it wasn't already sold out of course...

They should cancel the multiple orders and say "One per customer per household."

Fuck, Gamestop cancelled mine at the store as I was doing the transaction. It was on the credit card machine and everything. Fuck scalpers and fuck nintendo for treating their products like this.

I really hoped these retards learned their lesson from the Wii fiasco. Guess not.

I have to say I'm pretty salty that they're not selling the figurine by itself - it looks pretty high quality for that price, and I would totally pick one up if they offered it by itself. We'd also have a lot less of this scalping bullshit.

I kinda doubt that a buy limit would have realistically stopped scalping, but it might have been worth a shot. This is why Nintendo Japan does a lottery style selection for their limited edition stuff.

Yeah that is definitely the most bullshit thing to happen by far, especially if you were in the middle of a transaction. Honestly if Nintendo were smart, they'd release the Majora's Mask figure in large quantities to screw over the scalpers, but we all know that's not gonna happen. They should at least come out and say something about this, because otherwise it makes it look like they don't give two shits, which is a possibility too.

It's times like this that it makes sense that Nintendo of Japan does this. And yeah, the limit probably wouldn't have stopped all the scalpers, but it definitely wouldn't have gotten this bad that's for sure.

I used to love SlickDeals, but it's honestly become a cancerous den of vultures. It used to be about sharing deals with one another now it just has people prowling around and gutting the best deals to make a profit from other members. And the sad part is that people on the site swing it around like a badge of honor when they buyout an item. And the worst part is that when hard to find items are in stock somewhere they downvote the post so it isn't seen because they're protecting their inflated prices.
The delicious irony is that when Best Buy's preorder hit slickdeals people started getting banned from BestBuy.com because they tried to order multiple copies but bestbuy had a 1 per customer limit. Sadly the system is completely shot to hell because of these guys and it went from PreOrder to sold out in 5 minutes.

Edit: Talked to a Best Buy rep on the phone to see if I could somehow still get one, they said they are cancelling order en mass because of all the people trying to buy more than 1, said to keep refreshing as the preorder stock is slowly being refilled. Managed to snag one. Also a great deal because GCU cost is $10 off.

I'm still waiting for the day you start to see the Mario amiibos hit the bargain bin, I've been on a hunt for amiibos with pretty good success and I cannot tell you the absurd overstocking of the main Nintendo cast is. Seriously damn near every store is pretty much lined with Mario and Kirby. If you thought Marth, WiiFit, and Villager was a debacle wait until release day hits for Rosalina and Meta Knight. Rosalina got bought out pretty much instantly, I saw some people posting screenshots of their email with 15-20 preorder confirmations. And there were some rumors of people hearing that store employees were buying/planning to buy out stock before it hit the shelves. Some of these stores really have no idea how to handle this stuff and that's going to be an even bigger mess.

This. Seriously. Blows my goddamn mind how a company that has been in business this long still doesn't fucking learn.

Lucky. I'm waiting for the preorders to open up so then I can get one for myself. Honestly, this is who situation, along with how Amiibo's have been handled, really does not inspire confidence from Nintendo of America to me. And the fact that apparently this is a complete non-issue in Japan and only a minor one in Europe shows that Nintendo of Europe and Nintendo of Japan are at least competent enough to prevent something like this.

Yeah, I've been dissapointed by NoA in the past year. The way they handled the platinum reward this year, the way they handled the Smash demo, then the amiibos and now this.

Mayabe I can get a $100 gift card from Gamestop ffor what happened. Cause that was the equivilent of some jackass taking stuff out ofyour cart while you're waiting in line to check out.
