Ok, so we all have opinions on which is the best/worst game, but which is the hardest? The most obnoxiously difficult, the most likely to see a pile of broken controllers at the bottom of the wall opposite?

Myself, I vote for the original 'Z'. I could only get to level 3, but then again I was about 10 when that came out so incompetence might have come into play!

I always struggled with Space Invaders....

Tetris, could never beat that game.

Hmmm... Probably battletoads or when i first tried to do GTA III minus cheats.... took me years

I made a game where there's about ten pages of controls such as "FSF-CNTRl=Summons ice demon level r43".

Then when the game starts you instantly died. All the comments were people flaming me, lol.

Battletoads, Bayou Billy, Zelda CDI, The Lost Levels, but E.T. for Atari is a special one. It's so shitty, after just playing it for 10 minutes a person can lose their will to live. Absolutely 0% effort was put into this game, no innovation, it was just a quick cash-in, which results in a soul-crushing and painful experience, by all means I implore you avoid this game at all costs.

I swear to Chuck Norris, The Guy has got to be a sick euphemism for Chuck Norris, as seriously only Chuck Norris could get through all that.
I'm not a Chuck Norris fan, but in this case, seriously, it is the only appropiate thing to describe just how hard this game is. STAY CLEAR AWAY FROM IT UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO START THE MOST PROSPEROUS ERA OF VEIN SLITTING IN YOUR LIFE.

Note: If you already slit your veins, you are bound to certain doom through decapitation if you play this.

Nah it's hard but can be beaten with persistance. Personally I can't get to the 2nd boss but loads of people have finished it.

Or some crazy Japanese games, like several shooters that make Touhou look tame and some ASCII art platformers I saw.
And rom hacks of games. Some of the Super Mario World ones are just insane.

I have yet to beat it.

I forget the name of it, but it's one of those Japanese "bullet hell" games, with a really complicated title.

I do know one thing for certain... apparently Ikaruga is classed as the world's 3rd hardest game. I recommend to everyone with either a Dreamcast, Gamecube, or Xbox 360 to try it. It's hard but fun.

Pac-Man. May sound stupid but I just cant get past the 8th level without losing all of my lives.

Seconded. I Wanna Be The Guy wasn't as hard as people made it out to be, I have beaten it, and many people have beaten it, so it is definitely not the hardest game. My friend who has that Ninja Gaiden was always complaining to me about how incredibly difficult it was, so I have to agree on that point too.
