Gone Gonzo Posts: 1440 Joined: 19 Jun 2008 | Holy fuck me, I'd rather not thanks, especially if Bethesda have anything to do with it. However, I can imagine a perfect world where Interplay (and also the true Black Isle group) had not been shafted, and Fallout 3 & 4 were in development by a company who had gamers as their best interest, not the bottom $ line, and were interested and cared enough to give us quality sequels to franchises that we (by we i mean anyone with a sense of taste and an understanding of what gaming is really about, by which I mean anyone under 23 with an IQ over 115). In this day and age though, and after the poorly coded and pathetically enacted "game" that is Fallout 3, I'd rather that everyone involved go suck on a loaded 12guage shotgun. I hate all of you, for taking what were the gems of my youth and turning them into the shit of today. Especially you, Michael Bay. [Edit] I'm sorry, I went to see Transformers 2 tonight, and after the latest raping of my childhood to make quick bucks with that 2 and a half hour piece of shit, I'm feelin' kind of rant-y. |

You know what would make you feel better? a hug. *offers a hug* |

Sadly, isometric is a thing of the past (Or Turn-Based Civilisation styled games) and you can only push it so far. Oh and there won't be a "Fallout 4" anytime soon. Beth has a nice cash-cow called downloadable content (Why must you force me to download it! DAMN YOU, good sir)
If you went through the story you would find out (It also explains why there are mutants around... Although I'm yet to see a reason why they congregate around Parliament though) |

Shit, yeah. I forgot that. Although I still believe that the American West is the best place for Fallout to be set. |

Cutting myself off there, and ya know what, you're 100% right. After the brutalising my youth got tonight, I really do need a hug. Thanks :) |
Muckraker Posts: 327 Joined: 26 Mar 2009 | Bethesda has planned fallout 4 and 5, new vegas is being made by the guys who made the first 2 but with the fallout 3 style gameplay so i think new vegas is the one to look forward to. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2057 Joined: 10 Nov 2008 | I just want traits back, and not getting a perk every level, so we have to create specialist characters instead of having characters that are masters of everything by level 12 or so. Also, intelligence should affect dialogue. |
Press Junketeer Posts: 451 Joined: 27 Jun 2009 | Rich person with a top hat, monocle and biplane. The monocle is a weapon though and obviously when flying said conspicuously red plane they have their aviator's goggles on and music that refers to world war 1 for no apparent reason. Half mutants e.g stick your hand in the goo and you get a deathclaw's hand and nothing else. Also maybe a Vault tec magician's alchemy kit? S.P.E.C.I.A.L. playing more of a part in character. Something purposefully dramatic e.g the possibility of repeating humanity's fall, or learning from it by releasing an untouched military base's unlaunched nukes or turning it into a fusion power station. Please please PLEASE!!! include the following jokes for a robot to say: What's a scientist's favourite past time? Nuclear fission! What does a scientist use to freshen their breath? An experi-MINT! What's a scientist's favourite pre war chef? Gordon RAM-sey Also we need more Sticky. |

Intelligence doesn't directly affect dialogue in real life, though. I know plenty of people who are doing degree-level sciences and computing, and yet they aren't exactly charismatic fellows. |
Muckraker Posts: 256 Joined: 23 Aug 2008 | Bethesda is making it along with people from interplay, its set in vegas. |
Paperboy Posts: 41 Joined: 1 Jul 2009 | They are making another fallout, its not called fallout 4, its called fallout new vegas. |
Muckraker Posts: 256 Joined: 23 Aug 2008 | yeah but intelligence was better when setting it to one made you a dribbling retard incapable of speech. There's no real negative impact to low scores in fallout 3. |
Muckraker Posts: 256 Joined: 23 Aug 2008 | also strength should affect appearance. I hate how everyone in F3 has the same body. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1106 Joined: 13 Sep 2008 |
If you read the thread, you'll see that it's not a sequel, it's a spinoff.
I see where you're coming from, however charisma should stay as the defining factor, and intelligence allows for further improvements rather than just occasional speech checks. |

They made a huge mistake changing the character/combat system. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 4950 Joined: 22 Feb 2009 | Fallout 1 and 2 fans are just assholes. Seriously, I haven't met a nice one. Therefore it's a simple test of character. I like the third, and the I think the first and second are okay. Therefore I am god. Thanks for you time. |

That's true, but it added a degree of humour to the first two that was sorely missing from the third. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1457 Joined: 19 Jun 2009 | I think Bethesda g.s. is currently making TES V,and that will be the best single player RPG game ever created (or just best rpg game ever, screw mmo) ,so i cant wait to be back in Tamriel. And Fallout 4....well i didnt like Fallout 3 that much,i still played it and own it but meh,not too crazy about it,will proly be a nice game but im counting the days before: Half Life 2 episode 3 |

Nah. I think Fallout is what it is because of that weird, twisted view of Americana gone weird. |

If it was turn-based, I would fucking kill myself. Even if the original Fallouts were turn-based, I am used to F3. That's where I started. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 612 Joined: 8 Dec 2008 | Well I hope it isn't the same people who made Neverwinter Nights Two or Knights of the Old Republic Two. Both those games were unfinished messes that were far far worse than the original. I hope they've undergone some drastic changes in the intervening years or all those fanboys that keep crying about how Bethesda fucked up Fallout 3 (which I don't understand btw, I played 1 and 2, and frankly I liked 3 BETTER) are suddenly going to have something to actually complain about. |

Sure! Only issue I have is with the name; "Fallout Xtreme Beach Volleyball" would be catchier. I want Bethesda on the project. This would be right up their alley. They are no strangers to the tropics, having done the gaming classics known as "Pirates of the Caribbean". And in Oblivion they proved themselves masters of character wardrobe variety; I'm sure they can offer a great selection of bikinis for your role-playing character to wear in FXBV. |

Of course intelligence affects dialogue. An intelligent person is capable of understanding and perceiving things (implications, logical consequences, hidden meanings) a stupid person is not capable of understanding or perceiving. Therefore the intelligent person can talk of those things, and the stupid person cannot since he doesn't know they exist. It's like adults and children sitting together at a dinner table, and the adults talking with each other about something. Not a specialized field - this is not a question of knowledge - but something the children have all the necessary knowledge to talk of. Yet, unless the adults pay attention to the children, specifically try to involve them and explain things in detail, they cannot readily follow the conversation or participate in it or even recall the key points later. This is because of the difference in intelligence. It's no different with intelligent and stupid adults. I have sat at tables where one half of the table has an animated conversation going on, and the other half stays mute because they simply cannot think of things at that level. Charisma should have more to do with how the NPCs respond to what you say. A charismatic person might get away with saying something rude - the NPC might interpret it as humor or something - while a non-charismatic person might get beat up for saying it. A charismatic person might be able to persuade someone into a business deal by appearing more trustworthy than a non-charismatic person. Et cetera. |

Why? It was a world-wide apocalypse. Could be good for at least a spin-off.
