Anyways;

Recently I have seen a couple of things regarding new technology being developed for gaming. And that put me into the following trail of thought: "Where the hell are my 3D helmet / optic-nerve-gaming-suit / holodeck etc, that was promised to be released to the future consoles?" Yes, I know that it may be a while before we can jump into our uber gamingsuits and kill zombies by farting into a 300$ scentdetector. But the matter of fact is, now is the time for future consoles to develop something else than a 30button handcontroller. We have the technology damnit, why not implement it into the gaming experience?

Here is a couple of examples I would like to see put to use in the future consoles:

I think I'd actually Boycott it if it was called that.
I also think that the next Playstation needs to at leas tkeep up with the series with ever-increasing numbers on the end.

I think the next Playstation will be the Playstation X or something anyway. Just a hunch.

Well considering everyone is jumping on the motion control money train, and that Nintendo will probably go to HD next gen, the "playing field" as it were will be mostly leveled and it will become mostly a matter of brand preference. Also if the economy shapes up there could be a massive race to secure exclusives.

What the hell is wrong with all the new people coming to this forum and ranting all about Microsofts Project Nathal being the alleged "Wii-killer".

Please, bring some more FACTS to your claims rather than spewing out dubious opinions and presenting them as solid truth!

The FACT is that 'Project Nathal' (as it is called) is in its earliest stage of pre-alpha build and it will not be available on the market for years.
The unit as it is now has dubious functionality (it made an embarrasing presentation at E3)

The Nathal is new, unproven and unimplemented technology this far and fanboys like to act like as if the Nathal is superior in every way compared to the Nintendo Wii.

Fact is that we have not seen any solid live unedited footage of what the Nathal does in the clip you showed. It's a pre-made pre-rendered fabricated COMMERCIAL where the engineers show you what they want you to see. The fact is that the live tech-demo of Milo was closely monitored and only available for press at E3 and the engineers at Microsoft didn't allow the press-people to do what they wanted to Milo. They had to closely follow orders what to do to Milo from the PR-people and if any person did otherwise they would throw you out of the booth.

There's a lot of smoking mirrors to that video and there is a reason why they did not show a LIVE DEMO at E3 proving that the technology works nearly as good as the commercial shows. People should have learned by now that they shouldn't trust EVERYTHING they see in a trailer unless it is live non-target rendered gameplay.

My OPINION says that I find it difficult to take the Nathal motion-sensor controller seriously for any serious gaming franchaise such as Third-Person shooters, FPS, RTS and RPGs.

How in Gods name are you supposed to micro-manage a huge load of units with a motion sensoring controller? How are you supposed to control your character in first person? How are you supposed to control a hack-and-slash third person in an RPG with that? These are answers that Microsoft don't want to answer. As a matter of a fact is, the Nathal to me is just another step towards the casual gaming audience, one of which Microsoft wants a huge slice of. I can already see a million "party games" being released for that thing, getting slightly less dignity and respect that of the shovelware out for the Wii already.

I for one do NOT want that on a my future console because I for one believe that you cannot control fast-paced action shooters accuratly with that.

I'm not saying that Project Nathal is shit, but for crying out loud, wait a while to see what it can actually do before claiming it being superior to the Wii.

If the PS4 isn't backwards compatible, I won't buy it unless it has good enough games.

Pc seems to me to develop at an individual rate, depending on what the consumer want in a pc. The Playstation and Xbox comes in a "package", if you will. Itīs harder to mod and tweak a console than it is to tweak a pc, and you with consoles you kind of "get what you see". Itīs what you want to be included in that console-package I want to hear, therefore no pc in the poll.

If they could play against each other that would be hilarious, some sort of league between all the systems is exactly what the fanboys need...
But that would need cooperation from all parties and would take away the business aspect of exclusive titles.

Plus its a terrable idea and gangwars would be started.

Id like the next gen consoles to have better graphics, more support for media, more support for internet related activities, and keyboard and mouse capabilities (nothing beats that for FPSs).

Wait.... I just described a PC.
Indeed if you look at where consoles came from and where they are headed one thing becomes clear: consoles have been and will continue to become more and more like PCs.

And for those of you who want minimal loading times.... that would imply installation to some internal storage with faster fetch/read times than the DVD drive... sound familiar? ANOTHER FUNCTION OF PCs. muahahahhaaa.

ohh right, sorry i misunderstood, then i would like to see a console with anti-aliasing, why doesn't the ps3 have anti-aliasing? its riculous Ģ300 for a console and Ģ300 for a hdtv and i dont get anti-aliasing? i hope the ps4/xbox720 comes with this most basic of graphics improving mechanic (even basic ASCII character have been anti-aliased)

I will buy the console I think has the best to offer in terms of games and online services primarily. I don't want to see cloud gaming or a total shift to digital distribution. I love having an actual game, box and manual.

So here is what I want and dont want nicely ordered

Do Want
- Loads of gaming options
- More RPGs
- Improved D-Pad (360 gripe)
- Cool interface/dashboard with lots of skinning options and choices
- Emphasis on huge numbers of gamers in a single game (say 100+ in FPSs or 20 Drivers in Racing games)
- More single player experiences
- More freebies (everyone loves freebies)
- Tournaments and Gamer TV (Streamed from dash of online games)
- Better options with Friends lists
- Much improved Dash speed (Xbox 360 gripe, dunno bout PS3 or wii)
- Friend or Gamer search for gamers with similar interests in gaming as you
- Fully Backwardly compatible with all previous consoles
- Improved reliability and quieter overall.
- Small and sleek console
- Shift to solid state media (Disk drive for backward compatibility and DVD/Blu-Ray playback)
- Huge internal HDD with option to expand externally
- Media player in-built with ability to play a wide variety of media types.

Do Not Want
- More FPSs
- Total shift to novelty controllers
- More QTE
- Cloud Gaming and shift to digital only distribution (even if its only on "Key" games)

For a start, I'd like to see them built on an architecture that's not a bitch to program for. (Yes I mean you PS3) Then perhaps developers wont be so reluctant to spend a bit more time on games for that platform, sorting out glitches and outputting 1920x1080 resolution.

I would also like to see some pure servers for the online gaming service. (Yes I mean you Xbox Live). I still find it fucking stupid that we have to pay to use a peer to peer network for our Xbox online gaming service. It fucks up royally when you're unlucky enough to get a host with a crappy connection, or if the host quits you have to restart the god gamn game. If Live had it's own servers then I would completely understand the charges, but charging for peer to peer is a fucking rip off. Oh and before anyone says "quit whining you're too poor", I'm not poor, I've got my year of LIVE sorted, I'm just not happy about paying for something that should be free.

Also I would like to see more creativity in games. If I see another greyscale shooter *cough* Gears of War *cough* Killzone 2 *cough* then I'm going to destroy something. If you don't include the fisher price piece of crap known as the Wii, it seems like 80% of the games on the market now consist of this repetitive monotonous greyscale shite. Originality please devs?

Bringing me onto Nintendo... how about some real fucking games?? Not this fisher price crap wii sports, or this fitness crap that only improves your posture and if you class it as a real work out you're a fat bastard! "what about metroid prime 3?" whoop te doo another shooter... it's average at best... "what about mario galaxy?" great, a nintendo console has a decent mario game... never seen that before... The fact remains Akuma, that the PS360 fans and fanboys alike will believe what they want to believe, about a console that they hold no respect for. Notice that the majority of console affiliated people will not post something like 'The PS3 KILLZ the 360! Blu Ray etc etc' because they actually hold enough respect to not flame each other that savagely. But they hold no such respect for the Wii, and have no problem plastering all kinds of negativity onto the console, as well as ignoring the positives, even if double standards are in play.

Console fanboys jumping at the prospect of their own motion control while bashing the Wii's just proves this. After years of saying motion control is garbage, when their console of choice gets it, it's the fucking second coming of Duke Nukem.

Wasn't the playstation x the name for the very first playstation? Or psx or something.........i've seen that used instead of ps1 sometimes anyway......

I was incredibly upset when i found out the boomerang design wouldn't be the controller design for the ps3 so next generation better have it. Think about it if you get pissed at a game and throw the controller it wiil come right back to you no damage... as long as you catch it.

I don't think graphics have to go any further, I mean look at Gran Turismo 5, I put up a comparison and my friend wouldn't see the difference if i had put the box away, he was flabergasted. I was astounded by those graphics. Truthfully i don't think graphics matter all that much, look at the orange box, thats like a 5 year old game or something and yet i still play it because it was so fun.

I'd like to see more 3D platformers, personally. But then, that's probably just me.
