They have undying love with all of their families and race and what they have is theirs. In space they are slow but purposeful, and immediately able to reinforce any planet in their collective. I also like the Necrons in Warhammer 40K. They're a bit similiar to Terminator, except without the emotion bullshit. User was banned for: Poll: The Internet Ruined Gaming!!!. (Permanent) |

Dude's out there sticking it to the Nazis, hiding in brothels and actually smokes, which is rare to see in anything these days. Add to the fact that he's actually based on someone makes his character even better. |

I love that video. Bla bla bla, Mr. Freeman. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1258 Joined: 22 Dec 2008 | Emus. They're just...Oh wait, this is games stuff only...>_> I've always liked the character designed in Final Fantasy III on the DS. They're bad 3D models, but they way they're designed, they're kind of cool. Then, in design, there's Master Chief. He just looks friggin' cool. Or at least he used to, until I played Halo and realized how much I hated him as a character. Yes, Big Daddies are awesome. Zoey from L4D, as well. The way she's put into pretty dark environments in a middle of a zombie attack kind of draws the eye to her. Not because she's sexy, but because her outfit and personality really contrast what's going on. |

I loved the overall feel of the Half-Life 2 enemies, especially the Striders. Also the Big-Daddy's are one of my all time favorite characters, be it from films or games, because they have so much character for something that has very little narrative or actual emotional background. For me it has to be SHODEN from System Shock 2. Just downright unique. |

Ahem. May I direct you to the original Helghast. As to my pick for best designed character? I...honestly have no idea. |

Or the Dog from fable; nothing too complex but so loyal and loving you have to revive him instead of millions of innocent lives/a million gold |

Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 766 Joined: 9 Jun 2009 | soverign. he's(?) a big ass ship thats part of a breed that is only there to bring about the end of civilisation over and over again! that and he looks really cool and has a really great death. |
Beat Writer Posts: 135 Joined: 16 May 2009 | The Arbiter is a nice pick for this. He has motivation that is well characterized and I actually liked playing as him better because well I felt bad when killing my allies as the Arbiter but as the Master Chief I found all the death cries of the marines most amusing. Another nice pick is the entire monster catalogue from Silent Hill 2. You don't have to grasp the fact that they symbolize James' torment to get that they're fucking terrifying. But once you grasp the concept the clarity and they're fucking spookiness coincides with their symbolism so well that it gives you shivers. But my particular favorite pick is CJ from San Andreas. He's got a troubled past and no interest in fixing up his future whatsoever. He spends most of his game sticking it to the man, whom you are destined to hate the moment you first hear Samuel L. Jackson's voice, and does so (to quote Yahtzee) "with admirable gusto." But with all this wrong doing the wackiness of situations and explosions to rival a Michael Bay movie you can't help but agree and grow on CJ. |

In my opinion, the Striders and the dropships/gunships are special mentions of wonderful design concept of synths (life forms turned machine). But I gotta give it to the Big Daddy. Big Daddies would be a simple bodyguard concept. But being present in a game in past time and in underwater setting, I just loved the design of these monstrosities, especially the Bouncer-type.
