Whenever i play Left 4 Dead singleplayer i have this strange compulsion to start talking to my A.I teamates. Am i the only one who talks to myself when you play games?

I talk to myself when doing something really difficult whilst gaming.
I don't do it all the time though, the last time being when I was doing the Deal Ending on GTA IV.

Oh I talk to myself in more than games. Like right now I'm talking to myself what my response would be to a possible response I might get on another comment.......what?

Most of the time, yeah. I'll also read out the dialogue if there isn't any voice acting.

Yeah, all the time... My friends always start laughing at me when I speak to the character I'm playing with. "GO THERE! Good boy, I'll give you a cookie later, WTF DON'T DO THAT! Who are you then?" etc. It's embarrassing sometimes cos I just can't stop talking, plus I always talk in English when I play and that annoys some of my friends a lot.

Whenever A.I is involved I always talk to them. Whether it be L4D or RE5, I always talk to them.

I don't just talk to myself when gaming, I talk to myself ALL the time. Whats crazy is that it usually doesn't relate to the game I'm playing or whatever it is I'm doing, I actually have conversations with myself. Should I be concerned?

Aside from the "WHAT THE F*@K IS WRONG WITH YOU" or things like "GODDAMMIT" I don't really talk to myself during gaming. I definitely do online though. But I'm not sure if that qualifies as talking to yourself.

"Cīmon, you can do it. Just dodge and strike, dodge and strike. Watch out for that flying bugger. Noooo! Why canīt you jump, for christīs sake."

Yes, I do talk whilst playing, but not to myself. I like to give helpful tips and constructive criticism to the player character. After all, we are a team.

Yea, I talk to myself ALOT in games, either criticizing myself , the A.I, or other people with my unique brand of mixing whatever swear words I can come up with at the time and mixing them together (I'm kinda renowned for it in my gaming community) and I talk to myself around the house a lot too, for example, If I have forgotten what I went downstairs for, I'll have a go at myself for forgetting.

A bit, mostly I shout at the people in-game (NPCs or other players online).

Its more yelling at my computer or tv when playing WoW or halo

When I die I usually swear. Does that count?
Or when something wierd happens I usually go like 'oh, shit'

aside from frustration or snide remarks...well not really
but interesting thought, cuz now that I think about it...

Hell, I talk to myself when I'm NOT gaming let alone when I am. I've taunted many a boss and even got in trouble one time for yelling at my DS when at Church (more specifically pulling up to the Church parking lot to volunteer for a summer event but it still counts) when I yelled at the ungrateful shopkeeper in Portrait of Ruin those that have played the game will probably know what I'm talking about.

I talk to myself all the time, mainly asking myself where something is, where am I supposed to be, how someone/something is a jerk, screaming at whatever I'm killing (ye-hehehehehehe! Not so tough now? DIE MOTHERFUCKER DIE! AHAHAHAHAHA!). You know, stuff like that.

By talk do you mean swear compulsively like a Alzheimers ridden Teurettes sufferer ?

Then yes, yes I do.

Yes, but only to yell about things that happen.

I talk to myself anyway.

Well its more like I'm talking aloud even when I'm the only one in the room. But yes I do talk when I'm playing games.

The thing I'd like to point out, though, is that I never yell at the game, or players in it. I'm a pretty laid back kind of guy, if I get killed in a videogame, I usually just shake my head, shrug it off, and try again. But then it's probably because I'm used to getting my ass handed to me in online games.

When i play driving games i allways say what im doing e.g. break, Gas, Gear Change, Hand brake.

I get pissed off and yell, when I can't complete some irritating part of a game. I also talk to myself while playing horror games.

There's nothing there, there's nothing there AWWWWW JESUS F*CK!

Yeah, but I talk in small spurts of comments like Ha ha sucker,or what did you want me to do, or okay, let's go over here, over here and there.

I speak with the spider on the wall instead.

I don't talk to myself, I constantly berate the troops/AI for constantly misinterpreting my orders.

I sometimes go "grrrrrr" when things go bad, but never carry out a conversation.

I sometimes tell my AI teammates to stop looking at the birdie in the tree and start shooting the damn Nazis.

Other than that, not really.

Totally. I even "roleplay" in single player games... like saying "hey, sup?" to bystanders in Fallout 3 when I walk past them :P
Then I realise what I'm doing and I feel ridiculous.

I say "Are you shitting me?" to myself when I lose, if that counts...

*raises hand* I do.

When I'm using a laggy computer and it bugs out and I turn the game on again to find out that I have died it MAKES ME SO FRUCKIN' MAD!!!!!!! I just scream at my computer till my face turns blue and usually that relieves the stress.

Always! Usually to tell the NPCs to get the hell out of my way, occasionally a "where the hell did that rock/wall/whatever come from" and in the case of Half Life 2 it was "I've ALREADY fucking reloaded!"

"God dammit"
Most common words that leave my mouth

ZombieNeith:
I'll also read out the dialogue if there isn't any voice acting.

Oh, phew, thank goodness I'm not the only one who does this.

And yes, sometimes I'll talk to myself when I'm gaming, particularly if I'm struggling at a section.
