Not aloud, but I just talk to myself in my head. So I guess that would be a yes.

I'm not going to bother reading through the whole thread, but I can't possibly be the only one who wished there was a 'Only when swearing at infuriatingly tough enemies' option in the poll.

Being serious, though, I read out the text boxes in any games without voice acting and I sometimes talk myself through a particularly difficult section.

Occasionally. Well, usually it involves cursing or 'Oh c'mon, surely you can... you stupid character'. Sometimes I just find myself compulsed to talk to myself, make unrecorded, undocumented commentaries on sections.

If something repetitive or frustrating happens, I have a tendency do either "respond" (STFU, MOIRA!!!) or yell at the screen, respectively.

It is mostly profanitys. Try not to press the mic button if its just going to be a string of "rarrgh"s, seeings as it would only be my team that could hear it and they'd just laugh at me anyway :P

Im glad the person im really shouting at can't hear me though, it would only give them alittle bit more satisfaction at fragging me.

Single player I try and convice myself im talking to someone to feel less pathetic when I blurt out at A.I.

I swear frequently. I also berate myself when something goes wrong that I could have avoided, often quite loudly. Finally, I've been known to jump around with joy whenever I've finished a particularly challenging game.

Strangely, I only talk to myself when I'm playing with or in front of other people. It entertains. I guess that might be counted as just commenting tho...

Once, while Playing Gears 2, I found myself shouting at Dom:

"Take cover, you suicidal f**kwit!"

And once, in L4D:

"Save me, you bastards!" (it was my first time playing, and I wasn't aware that it was a very bad idea to shoot the witch in the back of the head point-blank with an autoshottie.)

And with frightening frequency, in Overlord:

"Kill for me, my hellspawned monstrosities!" *cackling*

Well, this depends. I usually yell at mentally challenged NPCs if they don't do what I want, I also tend to scream curses at enemies. A lot of the time on Xbox Live I have to put my mic on mute or I would get reported.

i talk to characters when the controls aren't doing what i want them to do, other than that, i swear at my teammates even when i don't have a mic.

also, when walking around alone, i tend to think about previous conversations that i have screwed up and begin muttering to myself what i should have said, anyone else? or am I just insane?

I talk to myself on a more or less constant basis whenever there's nobody else within earshot. I also talk to stuffed animals, shout at inanimate objects and/or NPCs, and just generally behave like a mental patient when alone. I actually like it that way, but not too much lest the Social Bunny show up.

Actually, that's usually a good idea. If your close enough it's a one hit kill.

It's less of talking to myself and more i'm talking to my Xbox, one time it froze on me so I yelled at to work then it unfroze.

anything I play...ANYTHING, I'll usually find myself yelling at the main character, a boss, an NPC who is proving to be insanely unhelpful, or just at myself for having spazztic hands depending on what I'm playing.

I also enjoy yelling at the camera...because bad camera angles are like the bane of my existence

...See...I do this too, but in the sense of, if I'm REALLY bored and there's no voice acting, I'll voice act myself and give everyone a different voice if I can...Citan Uzuki has a British accent...SHHHHH.

I only say something while playing video games if it's:

"Goddammit! Why the hell didn't anyone tell me there was a sniper?"

"Who in Bethesda Softworks came up with the fucking bright idea to create monsters that constantley match your level?!"

"How did he see through my spy disguise?"

"Fucking zombies. I'm going to beat the shit out of them as soon as I respawn."

I yell at the screen, but that doesn't really count, does it?

I talk to myself all the time while playing video games. It just adds some more enjoyment for me and for other people watching me.

I only talk to the game when someone else is playing, and I only do comedic commentary (a la Unskippable) for entertainment value.

I'm usually not playing alone because me and my sister watch each other game, so were always commenting on each other. But when i am alone i tend to make sound effects to weapons if there isn't one or little comment and rimes/phrases for repeated events like when i pick up a grenade i hum to myself "everyone's got naids naids naids" (naids- Grenades) all my friends do this now.

You are not alone, I talk to myself whenever I'm solving a difficult puzzle or fighting in a particularly engaging or hard fight.... often cursing either my enemy or my losses.

Of course. I am always yelling at the NPCs "GET OUT OF MY WAY" or "YOU'RE SO USELESS!" I'll even talk to enemies after they have killed me asking them why they did that and what I ever did to them.

Sometimes I'll talk to the NPCs in a game like inFamous. I'm playing the nice guy story right now and sometimes I accidentally hit a pedestrian (because if there are no enemies it kind of locks on to them) or step in a puddle with them, convienently electrocuting them to death. If this happens I usually say something along the lines of, "Ha ha, oops, sorry mister, are you oka - oh....you're dead aren't you...ya."
