ya it is... Off topic: What does /thread mean? |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 597 Joined: 13 Dec 2008 | Sewers... eugh.
It's an expression used after an opinion is expressed, when the poster believes their opinion to be true and superior. Basically it means 'end of thread'. |

"Close Thread" The '/' means end or close. Basically "I have given the best answer, no need for any more discussion." Although it's probably used less arrogantly than that, that's the gist of it. So /sarcasm would be used to indicate that the previous statement was sarcastic and everything afterwards isn't. |

Don't be a dick, /thread makes you look like an idiot. World War 2 happens to be my favourite setting. My least favourite is anything boring and brown. Fallout 3 comes to mind. |

Paperboy Posts: 35 Joined: 2 Jul 2009 | WORLD WAR 2, for the love of God, stop with WWII, it has been in so many games, its sooooo F*****G BORING and the fantasy theme(you know... the one with...wizards,thieves,knights...) |
Copy Clerk Posts: 108 Joined: 2 Jul 2009 | I really can't stand the setting in most Final Fantasy games, or JRPG's in general, if it's not some cutesy land full of happy furry animals and rainbows, it's an absurd mashup of sci-fi, steampunk, fantasy, and all kinds of stupid stuff. Bleh, not for me. Edit: And I really don't see why people hate WWII games so much, I know there is a lot, but personally WWII games are some of my favorite. They're so freaking epic. |

... May i dare ask WHAT setting you like then? |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1981 Joined: 5 Jun 2009 | Official "Worst-Setting-EVAR" is Warhammer 40000. It's so over-the-top and grimdark that it's not even funny. But JRPGs come in as a close second. |

It was a joke. Jesus. 'Least I didn't go "FIRST!". And World War games I find completely unimaginative and brings nothing insanely fun. If you play one war game, you played them all, just with different graphics. |

I don't know, there is still some untapped resources for WWII games. Personally I'd love to play a WWII game taking place in Finland when they fought off Russia. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 2484 Joined: 17 Apr 2008 | hmmmm... impart from World War II? (due to it being overused) I think the potential for a REALLY IMAGINATIVE setting (like, say, a dream world!)... but the development team is crap. that setting would probably annoy me most because of the lost potential. |

Meh. War games aren't even that gory. Now No More Heroes....that was a great game. |

Warhammer 40K is so hyper-badass and GRIMDARK that you kind of have to approach it like parody. The presence of Orkz kind helps in viewing it that way. I guess I'm saying that it's so over-the-top that it IS funny, if you look for the humor in it. I'll second the World War II motion. It wouldn't be so bad if original takes on the theme weren't so uncommon. It's almost always European Theater as the American or British forces. Hell, it was a notable change to be playing in that same theater as the RUSSIANS. That's a pretty low standard for variation. Personally, my favorite WWII-themed setting version is the Wolfenstein series. |

There are still unused World War settings, The Saboteur looks pretty good and a game based on the setting from the movie Defiance would be awesome. |

Each of us has a preferred setting for his game( not talking about genres). Be it WW2, present day, futuristic, fantasy, western, steampunk, whatever. But what do you consider to be the worst possible setting ; do you consider it bland, boring, over-used, under-used, speak your mind.
Guess i should say one to, hmmm ... japanese fantasy, just like below said, final fantasy horrifies me
