Muckraker  Posts: 290 Joined: 4 Mar 2009    | This was tough because I was torn between TF2, HL 2, Portal, and L4D because they're all great games but I decided to go with Half Life cuz Portal was too short, they're abandoning L4D, and I have the Xbox version of Team Fortress 2 (so I'm fucked out of that deal) but the Half Life series has always been fantastic. By the way if you want to get technacle its VALVe not Valve i dont want to be "that guy" but just for future refrences |

But after 100.000 dead zombies i tired a bit. Portal was fun, but REALYYREALLY short. Valve seem to have the annoying tendency to not tell the story to the END. Counter Strike Source: Well.. yeah.. a few hours every odd month is ok. Team Fortress 2: BEST. SHOOTER. AVAILABLE. Really... i can't stop blowing dudes up as a demoman.. holy crap i am nearly at 70 hours as demo alone... and countless more with the other classes. DAMN addiction *g* |

That's like saying Left 4 Dead isn't a VALVe game, because they accquired it. VALVe hired the CS creators. Cliffe and Le became VALVe employees. Under VALVe CS and CSS continued to develop and evolve. AND WHERE IS HALF-LIFE 1 ON THE POLL? |

Garry's Mod wasn't made by Valve, Team Garry made Garry's Mod, they just use Valve models and maps and textures, that's why Valve gets half the profit of Gmod. |

HL classic did for FPS what Starcraft did for RTS, brought their chosen genres the respect of the masses. Anonymous Source  Posts: 9 Joined: 17 Apr 2009 | For me, it was a tossup between TF2, Portal, HL, and HL2. TF2 is just plain amazing- I love the idea of separate classes. Portal was awesome, fun, and challenging- it was also just long enough to stay fun without dragging on or getting boring. Half-Life(1) was, simply put, nothing short of a revolutionary FPS for its time, and is still a wonderful game (Of course, that could just be the nostalgia factor talking). HL2 was an adventure- Ravenholm, Nova Prospekt, the Citadel, I loved it all. I found the narrative to be particularly enthralling as well. On the other hand, I have to disagree with MiracleOfSound- the allies' AI needed improvement (Excluding Alyx's AI, which was great). When a grenade was in close proximity to my rebel team mates, they would practically CLUSTER around it. So FRUSTRATING! However, the game was still entertaining even with that problem. In the end, I had to go with HL2. I just enjoyed it more than the other games. |

Well this community is very Portal-Centric. So much as insulting it counts as instant death in most circles, which although solvable by a Pheonix Down, can inflict serious harm on your overall Forum XP.
