Its obviously a common thought in this forum that PS3 could be much better, same as its equally common to note that it seems that FPS have a modern day "legal" requirement to be mostly gray, brown or terracotta.
Given that exclusive PS3 or Xbox 360 games are becoming fewer (I still really want to play Heavy Rain), all that this indicates to me is that PS3 is not currently hugely different to Xbox360 in terms of selection.
So this leads me to ask the question. Graphics aside, how do you think the PS3 can be improved? (i.e. what would you expect from PS3?)
Setting graphics aside there's not a lot that can be improved upon. It has the friends feature, achievement/trophy feature, a marketplace and all the other small things built into it. If Sony was to take something from XBL it'd probably get the fans and everything else to say 'they're copying' to cheapen it. To me the PS3 is fine; it plays games and lets me have fun.
By not being made at all! ZING! Seriously, I don't own a PS3, but I'm considering buying one. One of the major setbacks for me is, well, the games. The multiplatformers I already own for the PC or 360, and I feel like a few exclusives and a few DLC games won't be enough justification for a $300 console. If better PS3 exclusive games came out, I feel like I'd be more inclined to get one.

Objectively, I think you answered 99% of the forum's answer.
What I'd expect from a PS3? Goddamn backwards compatibility, that's what. But it was not to be, and Sony have already announced that the whole concept went down the crapper forever and ever.
More, better exclusives, or more reason to buy a PS3-integrated multiplatform game (perhaps exclusive features or something). Until then, I'm deeming the PS3 as a gaming platform almost completely useless.
I think that the PS3 is at the peak of what's possible of a console right now, and I'm trying to say that with as little flamebait as possible. I'd like to see more games come out on it, since the 360 walls at Gamestop always seem like they're twice as big as the PS3 rack
The PS3 would completely 100% dominate the market if it was cheaper. That's what it all boils down to, anyway! The reason that the 360 has a better online is ONLY because more people can afford to buy an xbox... that, AND it comes with a mic. So if the Ps3 threw in a mic and lowered it's price another 50 dollars, it would be the Jesus-Box.
Seriously, I don't have any problems with mine. It's better than my 360. It honestly, truly is. But I also have small hands. So...
>Cheaper >Mic Included >Different Sized controllers for those of you with big-clunky-bear-hands.
That ought to make the PS3 the number one system ever.
cloudywolf13: As a fanboy with an admitted problem, I'd say an FFVII remake would do the trick.
It's not going to happen. I hope you enjoy the Final Fantasy 6 remake, Final Fantasy 8 remake, Final Fantasy 7: Dirge of Cerberus remake, and Crisis Core PS3 port coming in the near future!

they just lowered the price by 100. you asking them to make it 200? thats way to cheap.

In case if your a little slow, I was joking.
What's sad is that there's a 75% chance of that being true.

Seriously, I think it's better that Mics aren't included when you buy the system. It really cracks down on the screaming/music playing tards everyone talks about on LIVE.
An improvement?... Because I know you can buy keyboards and a mouse to use for your PS3, I doubt you can enable their use during an FPS game. That would be an excellent addition.
A better controller is my only complaint. Really it's just the marshmallow like shoulder buttons and the insensitive thumbsticks. I'd very happily use a 360 controller to play my PS3.

thats one thing that will never change. and good that it dosent. I just dont like the 360 controller it feels wierd.

The triggers just need to be used enough, and it begins to feel incredibly natural. Do you own a PS3, and if so, how long have you owned one?
As for the triggers: I think it's more to do with their placement rather than with their sensitivity. Don't get me wrong, I love me some Dualshock, but they can be a hassle when jumping between the two consoles.
Well, Live had an install base already, and an overall more functional system in terms of unification. To overcome that, the PS3 needs to invent time travel. The OP's use of "terra cotta" and "brown" in describing modern games succeeded only in making me think how interesting a PS3 would look in either of those colors. Seriously people, some variety; I don't want a system that thinks it's KITT.
I'd also say "Make sixaxis controls that work properly" and "change the controller shape", but Sony's true zealots would disagree with me. Whatever, I'm not comfortable playing an FPS or RPG hybrid on PS-based controls.
Maybe update the controller for this century. I know lots of people like it, but that's probably the last reason I have not to buy a PS3 Slim. Dual Shock 3 is terrible for FPS games.

The PS3 had a leak of good games ...that was 2 years ago

I'm somewhat ashamed to admit that if that were announced, I'd buy a PS3 tomorrow...

Well okay that makes sense, I do have a PS3, but only for about a week and a half haha. So I'm guessing that's it. I still don't like the analog sticks though, they just don't jive with me when I'm so used to the 360's layout. I do really like the Dpad and the face button shape on the Dualshock though.

Indeed :D That's primarily the reason why I like to get fighting games for my PS3.
As for the analog sticks: They should begin to feel incredibly natural in no time at all.

To each his own. It's just a difference of opinion, as I'm guessing you play primarily PS3, while I have always been a 360 gamer until the recent PS3 price drop. I do like the face buttons and the D-pad, but I'm just at a loss with the analog sticks.
Considering the fact that both the PS3 and the 360 are pretty much watered down PCs I say scrap the 360 and let Microsoft stick to their PCs for gaming and Sony can scrap the PS3 and start creating their own line of gaming PCs. I mean people say they are as close to PCs as any consoles can get.

Yeah I am. but yeah like what hazy said, after a couple of weeks you will get used to it.

Yeah I guess, I'm just having trouble adjusting to the lessened sensitivity when sniping or trying to be very accurate with weapons. Like you said though, I'll adjust in no time at all. Oh and as I'm brand new to the Playstation, could you give me a quick list of your favorite games? I'm looking for some ideas, as I currently only have MGS4 and Uncharted.
