What is apprent is that you sir are a Jackass of the highest standard. He posts what is his opinion, and although it is wrong, it is not worth that type of reply. If anyone is worth being called a troll, it's you. |

Several things about this paragraph tell me that you are doing it wrong. |

You know folks IF someone makes some cotnrollers to console ho basicly is mouse and keybord the yes it can be better! But as it is today PC > consoles for rts, a console controller is simply incompitable |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1230 Joined: 9 Apr 2008 | If you prefer them on console, more power to you. I'm not going to ridicule you for being the only person in the world who thinks so. You're just the only person in the world who thinks so. Which is fine. It just will be very, very lonely. But hey, we all have our quirks. Saying that they look better on console is a little bit of a weird statement. Unless you don't have a gaming PC, there is really no support for this hypothesis. The only way I could explain this is if you are referring to consoles being on a TV, but you can put your computer on a TV just fine. Basically, if a console looks better, then that is because you aren't doing something. If you have a huge TV in one room, and a 800 Mhz processor computer in the back room hooked up to a 15 inch monitor, that's not a matter of the graphics on one looking better then the other, it's a matter of your choice of platform, and how you treat each platform. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1536 Joined: 4 Feb 2009 | Everyone should lay off the OP. Hes not a troll. There has been no "Ur PC licks Balls" style comments. Ive not seen FTW anywhere. I am primarily a console gamer, although I used to play a lot of PC games. For me the console controls have come on in leaps and bounds for FPS's. Now that we have moved away from carrying 10 weapons I'd prefer a controller. 5 years ago I would never have believed I'd one day say that. RTS it is still wanting though. Endwar worked because it used the mic. If more go this way then console RTS's will get better. Graphics are better on PC if you have a gaming rig, not everyone can afford a gaming rig. I could afford one but with a young son and famiily I have other priorities. My xbox will do fine. |
Press Junketeer Posts: 410 Joined: 11 Jul 2009 | So far most RTS's are all designed around the concept of micro management. It's always been an integral part of the genre, especially in competitive play. The problem is you cant really micro on a console. You need to have the mouse and hotkeys to be able to quickly micro your units. IT just doesn't work on consoles. That said, there is one console RTS which actually does a pretty good job on it. Brutal Legend. It actually circumvents the micro problem by mixing in action elements into the gameplay. If your not familiar with it, basically you control your hero unit as you would in an action game, and then give orders to your army. You can do special attacks and buffs etc. Interesting bit is you can take control of individual units in double team attacks, essentially letting you micro that unit... it works really well, and essentially keeps the traditional macro management elements from RTS's, capturing resources, building units, "select all, attack move" type stuff, and substitutes the micro elements with action elements... |

Muckraker Posts: 334 Joined: 3 Sep 2009 | Hm...I've really only played RTS games on the PC, and they're pretty good. If oyu know how to do it, one game I have you could beat a skirmish mode in about half an hour to an hour by going through the same routine. The problem with RTS games is all you need to do is make millions about millions of basic infantry and march them other to the enemy and watch them die while succeeding. That's the most rewarding thing is seeing all my troops getting killed off. |

First off, yes, you're right. The op is just fine. He is expressing his personal opinion and experience in a polite way. I tried to express my perspective in an equally polite way. Some people are being overly sensitive, and its a shame. However, there is a fallacy in your argument about not being able to afford a gaming rig. The thing is that these days, even if you own an X-Box, you still probably need a new computer every now and again, unless your living under a rock. If you were to tack on the price of an X Box, controllers, and Live on top of the price of a computer you need for everyday use anyways, then you have a pretty decent gaming rig. I dare say that in the long run, you end up paying less for games on the PC (Bioshock for $5, Orange Box for $10, and lots of other special deals come to mind). This isn't an argument for PC being better, its an argument that it all comes down to your own personal choice of play style. |

You'll end up shoving the thumbsticks up your ass in anger. I mean the closest RTS on the consoles have gotten to being good is HaLO WARZ, and that's a fucking Halo game!........that sucked ass harder than the third one. And it didn't even have Master Chaf in it. User was banned for: What happens if you inject a cat with bleach?. (Permanent) |

Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 972 Joined: 22 Dec 2007 | RTS can't work on the console, it is horrible, but the two you mentioned are terrible in my opinion, well Red alert 3 to the rest of the sires, and Halo Wars is RTS for dummies |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1520 Joined: 3 Sep 2008 | The RTS can work on a console its just never been done, too do one properly requires a completly from the ground up mechanic, the point and click excel spreadsheet style of PC RTS is never going to work on a controller. |

On the Record Posts: 6234 Joined: 10 Aug 2008 | What kind of drug are you on? Of course PC RTS are better. It's all about the controls, and RTS were basically MADE to have a lot of controls which work very well and precise with keyboard and mouse. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1165 Joined: 13 Sep 2008 | The only RTS games that I EVER liked on the consoles were Populous: The Beginning and Red Alert: Retaliation. Keep the rest on PC. As for you, OP,
are both, terrible, TERRIBLE examples of RTS games in general. |

Not to mention the fun. |
Beat Writer Posts: 192 Joined: 29 Mar 2009 | I feel that when done right, an RTS on a console can work well. The problem for most console RTSs is selecting specific units. In battle for middle earth 2 on the PC, its much easier to select a few units in the back of your army for a flanking attack. While on the console, its harder to do that. Menu navigation in game is much easier on the console cause usually the menus are assigned to buttons or easily selectable stuff. I have more RTSs on the PC so I'm better on the PC. That's probably the only reason I choose them over console ones. |

You seem to be as big a fool as the OP is. :/ He made a blanket statement with no evidence to back up his point. You really are as dumb as he is. Well, maybe he is just ignorant, you on the other hand are just stupid. |

Organic? You're complaining about a PC interface not being organic compared to a console? Play Supreme Commander and then tell me that. The tactical zoom is more organic than anything I've ever seen in an RTS, EVER. And graphics, do- OHHHH OK YOU REALLY HAD ME GOING THERE FOR A SECOND GOOD JOB ^_^ |

I am trying to imagine how horrible your computer must be. For it to be worse than a console, and you still play games on it.... I am just not feeling it. |

I've only played a handful of RTS games, but they are much more suited to the PC
