I see what you mean, but I think you're only referring to the people that are vocal about how their style is right. For instance, I consider myself a console gamer simply because most of the games I play are on consoles, but I'm not one to insult PC gaming. It's okay to have a preference, it's just annoying when people get all crazy over it.

I kinda agree with you but I think it's good to have civil discussions about why each is better at what it does. For instance, I'm replaying Half-Life 2 on Xbox 360 and I'm really enjoying it, but for a multitude of reasons Team Fortress 2 absolutely blows when you play it on console.

I think in both cases it's because the analog stick controls force you to play at a more deliberate pace, where as a mouse and keyboard allows you to play up to speed with your reflexes. So in single player I'm more likely to not speed through and ultimately I enjoy the story more, but in multiplayer I get frustrated that I just can't play at the same level as on the PC (I won't get into how sorely 360 TF2 needs updating)

Even so, I would play only FPS or RTS (if I was made to) on PC and most other games on PS3.

Consoles will never be dynamic enough to properly run an RTS, or be responsive enough to beat a PC when it comes to FPSs, but consoles are better for racing games and flight sims in the area of "Tilt to go move, button to shoot, everything else is automatic".

Neither will ever edge out the other.

Anyone who can should use both for their respective strengths.

I agree, and in a perfect world everyone would live at peace, but I believe that there are people that need to justify their purchase by saying it's the best... I'd have all platforms if I could, but I can't so I have a DS lite and a 360... They're not better or worse than anything else, I just prefered them (and the DS has Pokemon lol)...

I was like it when i was 8-12 but that was with my brother about the ps1 and ps2 vs N64 and gamecube. Now my main consoles are a psp and a 360 and on occasions ill buy a pc game. The brand of either console or pc or whatever doesnt bother me anymore. Its merely just im having fun playing this. I think i soummarised my thoughts to gaming in one phrase, Wow lol.

Personally I just ignore them. You should as well. It makes life a lot quieter and less annoying. Your taking these people way to much attention and when you do that, it just feeds their ego, and they get louder and more abusive.

This doesn't make PCs better, this just makes them better for me.

It's just a matter of choosing what flaws you don't mind (or, if you're rich enough, choosing both.)

Depends where you buy your games. Ebay makes console games about the same as PC ones.

Anyway, I realise that gaming rigs aren't as expensive as people make out (to maintain at least) but it is fairly expensive to get started. I just don't have the sorta money for that. Consoles make it easy as I don't have to upgrade for 5+ years (depending on how long the gen of consoles last) and even then its cheaper to buy a console than a good gaming pc.

I like to think of myself as a hybrid gamer. The ultimate being within the gaming 'race'. I play PC games and console games (that being all three consoles in this generation) and I don't bitch, moan, scream, shout or cry about which of the three consoles is the best and how my PC could eat your PC. Once people realise that it doesn't actually matter how you play your game, only that you do, and you enjoy it, then the world will be happy.

Well, During English class, we had a few of these 'Idiots' pipe up saying XBox beats everything else.
This led our teacher to a most interesting resolution:
Debate it.
Every side prepared their speeches (There was PC, XBox, Wii, PS3 and Undecided/Didn't Care) and debated it at the end of the week. It was meant to be fun, but repercussions have continued to this day. And the debate was back about April.
But, all in all the class ended up Voting for the most convincing Side's debates and PC won.
We all loved it and respected each other's opinions an in a civil manner, determined who the nerds in the classroom were...I mean gave our opinions on consoles.

Honestly, I agree with First Poster. No side is wrong. Every console/Platform has its ups and downs and Titles and ones it doesn't but in the end it's all about preference and money.

All this coming from an Avid PC lover kinda nulls the whole thing, doesn't it?

Seriously though, the eternal feud over superiority between console gamers and PC gamers is more of an object of slight amusement around where I live. Or at least in my age group. I play games both on my computer and xbox (though lately I've been forced to use more and more xbox since A) my gf has entrenched herself on the computer and B) my trusty compunion is from the age before primeval so the best I get is Civ4 and even it starts lagging after the industrial era) and I enjoy both as well. I like playing on computers more - maybe because I grew up playing on them - but then again I love consoles because it's simply easier than arm-wrestling with your computer about every single thing you might possibly ever want to do.
I don't think anyone really wants either one gone but it's fun to jest about the subject.

Why not play both?
One theory is that PC gamers are scared shitless that console gaming is going to make everything completely commercial, eat computer gaming alive and thus detroy modding and everything that is just fine and dandy on the PC side of the gaming. Console gamers as a group on the other hand aren't any tech wizards and therefore not familiar with the amazingly diverse array of possibilities computers offer for their gamers. Also PC gamers are a formidable front to approach as they take their own field so seriously and have in early childhood mastered the secret techniques of the techno-ninjas.
So what I'm saying is they're both afraid of each other. Obviously.

Besides the groups are split for a reason; consoles generally (GENERALLY) apply to more casual gamers, where as PC gamers are more interested in tech (because we need to be).

Woah, an upgrade every month or two? I upgrade one part a year, then a couple more if others start to show their age. Even then, upgrades aren't really that important.

My 8800GT graphics card is starting to get old now, but it runs just about everything fantastically. Ant that's without overclocking.

And no, I haven't insulted a gamer for the platform they use. Might have something to do with the fact that I am both a console and PC gmaer, but nevertheless. There's no point. If you're happy on the platform you're on, just enjoy it, and don't bitch about the other console.

I generally play the 360 more, simply due to sharing a PC. but have no real preferance.
